Damn, I ordered from Amazon for $104 with free ground shipping. Ordered the morning of the 23rd. It's getting here by this afternoon, the 24th!! That's the fastest shipping EVER for anything I've ever purchased.

The paddle buttons are good and nice, but when you are trying to do a hard turn while down shifting, my left hand seems to always be in a strange position and it's hard to down shift, so I just give the shift knob a quick hit down.

Yeah amazon is real fast at shipping this product out. I ordered it a few days ago and the next day it was already being shipped. I recommend getting it from them highly. Here is a link for it

I did a search through this thread and couldn't find anything. But can you calibrate any of the Logitech wheels in GT4?

As far as I can see so far...the answer is NO!
You can only re-map what buttons do what on the wheel itself....but no 'calibration' option found so far. (Can't beleive it wouldn't be anywhere else but under options but heck...I could be wrong! :)

Hopefully this doesn't get lost in this massive thread:

Is anyone else having issues at startup with thier DFP? It's happened to me twice now (out of 6 startups) that the wheel does it's self-caliberation but the buttons and controls on it won't work. The dualshock next to it still works but I can only get the wheel to respond aftrer a handful of "unplug it from the PS, count to 10, plug it in, repeat" repetitions. All the connections are good and everything else seems fine but this is concerning me a bit....

After playing GT4 with the DFP for 3 days, I have decided that its not for me. I put back my DF wheel and its much better for drifting and general car control. The DFP is going back to Futurshop.

The DFP is a nice wheel, very well made, but the 900 deg steering in the wheel makes it very hard the recover from a spin. As an example, playing with the Yellow Bird RUF on the Nurburgring was a nightmare. Once she starts drifting out of control, its very hard to catch. If you catch the initial drift, the wheel almost always snaps back in the other direction violently. Usualy ending in a spin. I was a lot faster once I hooked up my old DF wheel. Controlled drifts are a breeze now, and feel even better than GT3.

I tried the wheel in 900 and 200 mode, no difference. The wheel will still countersteer using the full 900 deg on its own. And the FF makes it more difficult to turn than in a real car. The 200 deg lock-to-lock of the DF wheel is much better.

Conclusion; stick with the DF wheel, because newer is not always better.

dont give up man.,, just cus its didnt come to you in the 1st few days doesnt mean you should give up. Have you seen the video with Stefan Roser "AKA Dr, Drift"? and how crazy his steering work was with the yellowbird on the ring?

What race did you win to get the yellowbird?? I just got the game wendsday. :) Drifting doesnt seem that hard to me.

Yes I have seen that drift vid and I can drive like that with the DF wheel. The DFP is just frustrating. I'll keep the extra $200 in my pocket and stick with the old wheel :) .

*I got the yellowbird at the Boxer Spirit race in proffessional events.

the force feedback on my DFP isn't quite as strong as i was expecting. after playing the GTR demo with the feedback all the way up GT4 feels pretty weak. does anyone know if GT4 defaults to the strongest feedback? i've gone through the options and couldn't find anything, just put the wheel on simulation mode and didn't notice too much difference.

Ok. Well I just received my DFP today and MAN! this thing is awesome! I've never had that much fun in a driving game, peroid! And this is GT3 I'm talking about. I can't even immagine how fun and addicting GT4 will be when I get it on the 1st of March and make myself a proper wheel stand. Now I'm all jittery and excited. Oooh...I wet myself. :boggled: :D

Have you tried steering by controling the car more with your throttle and breaking control? that also might be part of it. Depending on the car, the steadier or the more agressive your manipulation of the throttle is, the easier drifting is. Oh well, ur decision to take the easy way out and use 200 degrees :)

I bought GT4 right on the 22nd, also the DFP, and though its a lot of fun using it, its really difficult for me to use. I always end up 5th or 6th in a race, but when I use the ps2 controller, its a breeze. Will I just have to master the DFP? or jus stick with the ps2 controller for now? (though its very fun using the steering wheel)

hi, for the past 2 weeks i've been reading reviews and looking forward to the dfp, but i went down to the pier today and played some game called ferrari f355 challenge and i didn't like the feel or the way it played. Can someone tell me if the dfp is an improvement over this and arcade games in general?

thanks

I dunno.. I'm used to playing it with sim games like Live For Speed, RIchard Burns Rally, and GTR.. so the DFP in gt4 isnt that hard for me to control. But i guess if you only used to PS2 racers it mightbe a bit disheartening at first when you try to drift and the car snaps back at ya for not countersteering smoothly

took me about 4-5 races to get the hang of the wheel, now i run better with the wheel. the brake pedal is the major advantage IMO. or getting a high tourqe rear wheel drive car and being able to feather the gas. dfp = f'yeah!

I am so incredibly uncomfortable.

Love the wheel with GT4, but can't find a good spot for the wheel. Right now I've got it clamped to a coffee table, and I can only play for about an hour before by back is completely cramped and in pain.

I don't have the space in my family room, nor the desire to clutter it up with a huge rig to hold the wheel.

I'm stumped. I've looked through a lot of this thread, but not all, and I just don't know what to do...

Here I've got the game I've been waiting for years for, and I've only been able to play it for about 4 hours so far, instead of the 15 or 20 that I would have liked to. :(

Major bummer

i don't know if anybody has posted this yet, but has anybody drifted with the wheel with a stock car?. I just bought me a logitech dfp the other day and i'm looking for a great stock car to drift and on a great map. I'm not "pro" with my Levin right now, so in order for me to drift better, do i really need to buy every drivetrain parts? Any suggestions guys?

a plain BMW M3, an s2k or one of the rwd muscle cars are pretty easy to drift. you either want something light, or something with decent power or a combination of the two. I havent found any Silvia S15's in the used car lot yet and those should be driftable stock. I havent tried the s14s yet either. I just got the game wendsday. Make sure your using n1,n2,or n3 tires also for the cars.

If space is an issue, here are a few options to consider:

1. BRD Gamestand
2. Capitol Die Cast Wheel Stand
3. Ash Design's Game Stand

Hope this helps?

EDIT: The cheapest option is #2...at about $50 US dollars....and does fold up quite nicely....where as only #3 does NOT fold up....

also, i watch a lot of best motoring videos, and they help me decide on which cars to buy. The Subaru wrx STi ver. III has a nice bit of oversteer, plus its really cheap and pretty powerful. Very fun to drive just like the Drift king said when compared to the ver. V.

man this thread must be the hottest gt4 topic right now. I also love the wheel and bought it because of this forum. Thanks again for people talking it up and it very well is worth the 105 bucks i spent to get it. IF anyone else wants to get it, I'll give you the link i got it at. GOod deal.

Thanks Again

Dude-

That TOTALLY helps. I could do #2 out of 1/2" baltic birch plywood in a heartbeat, and it would be small enough to fit in a closet :dopey: ... My back thanks you.

Right on.

Guys, I'm looking for a brand new racing wheel, and watching many pics of your gt 4 cockpits, I realize that lots of people from the community uses Logitech's Driving Force Pro. Do anyone use another one, or is the only true choice? Thx for the info.

It depends on what you want to do with this wheel (the one you want to buy). The DFP is compatible with the PS2 and PC.
It has the possibility to choose between 180° and 900° on your computer using the latest driver from the wingman team.
In GT4 it calibrates itself automatically.
So yes, the DFP is the best choose (personal opinion). The only problem is the pedals (potentiometers). But there is a way around that problem.
Order the outright pedals from FREX (compatible with the DFP) and you problems are (I think and I hope) solved.
Unless you want to spend a lot of money,
you better wait until BRD releases their professional multi turn wheel, the speed7!
Will be only compatible with your PC unless the guys from BRD keep their word and make it also compatible with the PS2 AND Xbox.
