i reccomend all of you guys who own a DFp and have a decent computer to buy richard burns rally. I'm currently using 439° of lock for my wheel with that game. A bunch of cool cars and mods have been released.
more recently Subaru WRC 05, Xsara WRC 05, and Pug 307 WRC 05. And the Tarmac sim mod.
check out the pics

Or, you could play it on PS2 like I do :D

question, i got a dfp when gt4 came out, when i use the steering wheel it sounds loud, like with every turn i make it makes a rubbing sound, is this normal? Or is it suppose to be silent and then just make noise when it rumbels?

You can lubricate it with some auto lubricating spray such as WD-40, RP7 etc. It will get rid of most of the WRRR WRRRR. You can also smear some Vaseline on the rack as well if there are some clonking noises there too.

Its good for PS2, but its better for PC. Tarmac mod... 2005 spec rally cars. And you can set the DFP to whatever lock you want. i got mine at 540.

Here's a vid showing a bit of what i'm talking about. This is what a rally sim is supposed to look like 👍
its a vid of the the 2005 spec WRC SUb STi on Japan wilderness tarmac

I use paddles to shift and the stick as handbreak.

To answer the question above. No. Even the japanese version has the shifter on the rght side.

Yeah, you can set the lock on the ps2 version as well (in increments of 45 degrees (22.5 on both sides)).

I'm sure the PC version has better graphics and all, but at least the gameplay on the ps2 version remains perfectly in tact. Of course the mods would be more fun for the PC...but I don't have a powerful enough PC, plus my gaming setup is infront of the TV :D

I have a DFP, and since I didn't enjoy rallying with GT4 I purchased "World Rally Championship". Unfortunately, my DFP doesn't work with the game! And the website for BAM! doesn't work.

Does anyone that uses the DFP have the game? Does it work for you? Did you do anything special to make it work? Tia for your help.

Pete

ps. Also: what is the best rallying game for the PS2 (USA)? Colin McRae? What version should I look for?

Yeah Richard burns Rally is good, a 'Real Sim' tho which makes it hard to get into.

I much prefer WRC4 - its a lot better looking and a lot easier to get into.

The DFP works a treat on both games :) .

I think the Colin Mcrae series is absolute pish!! Too arcadey for my liking. :yuck:

PMGOLF: I own WRC (PS2) as well and the DFP works great on it!

IMHO, WRC is better then CM3, which is the only version I have of that game at the time being! It's a shame that the other versions of WRC never made it to the USA!

Based on what I read, it looks like the Colin McRae, Richard Burns and World Rally Championship (after the first one) games are only available in Europe. Is there a difference in PS2's between the US and Europe like the NTSC vs PAL difference in DVD's? If not, maybe I can get one from a European website. It sure would be nice to have one that works with the DFP.

Thanks!
Pete

[ Just read your post, Simracedriver. I'll keep on tinkering with the DFP to see if I can get it to work. Thanks!]

For somebody who had Driving Force and now has DFP. I am upgrading from my current crappy wheel and can't decide on DF or DFP. Is DFP worth almost double the price of DF? Why? I'm not crazy about the vibrating, at least on my current wheel, so I'll probably turn it off what ever wheel I end up getting..

bbgred, it doesn't vibrate ... and this is coming from someone who went from the MCII to a DFP ... didn't want to spend the money and wasn't too struck with the idea of it vibrating madly; in other words, I had exactly the same thoughts as you.

Truth is, though, the wheel RESISTS your movement in a way a real one would when turning at speed at the likes. In fact, if you have ever driven a real car, it is AMAZING how the DFP simulates tire traction (and loss of it).

The first time I used it and ran over a rumble strip, the wheel judders perfectly, but not only that, when the wheels lose traction with the road the DFP becomes suddenly easier to turn ... you can feel how much grip you have on the road beneath you.

The only time it ever does anything close to 'vibrate' (and it's never as mindless as that), is when you're either at high speed down the likes of the straight at Le Sarthe and you hit lots of bumps one after the other, or when you rally ... but even then it's a 'judder' as the wheels hit bumps or lose traction in different places ... exactly how a normal car would be.

Man, it is worth every dime ... and that comes from a girl who really, really didn't want to spend the money. Now? It's the best addition to the GT4 series without a doubt and I wouldn't play another driving game without one ... it enhances the experience that much.

There are two USB ports on the front of your PS2. Others have had similar problems because they don't have the DFP hooked up to the most left-hand USB port (depending on the model of the PS2). Have you verified if you have the DFP connected to the correct port?

hell yeah I have it on the correct usb prot. it only works on the top one. but still it doesnt....this is bul****....logitech...man... :grumpy:

my dfp doesnt even calibrate anymore it just blinks the left green light and the right light is still green....what bul****
Hi, I'm new to these forums. I found you guys in Google when I was looking for help with my wheel.

I'm having exactly the same trouble. It doesn't even calibrate. One day it was wroking, the next it does nothing.

The left light flashes while the right one stays on. Then if I turn the wheel a bit the left light goes out, but the right one is still on.

I've unplugged everything and powered down etc etc. Still no luck. Any help would be great.

Ok ok, I found the problem... One of my power boards under the desk was kicked out of the wall. Power helps **** work! I feel dumb, but I'm happy I'm back in action

Make sure your power is fully plugged in. I had the same problem before. This SHOULD help. If it doesn't work then I don't know what the problem is.

Hmmm, Koly, now you really got me thinking :scared: , as I have already 2 different wheels and struggle to explain to my wife why in God's name I really need another one...

I might order it then ...even tonight.... 👍 hmmmmm.

Try this here to find a retail store that's close to your location....

Hope this helps?

Well , you're in the same boat as a lot of people in Aus waiting to buy a DFP. Unfortunately Sony can't seem to get any more of them, a shipment was supposed to arrive in the country 31/5, not sure if it did since retailers haven't received their stock yet, might take a fortnight to reach the distributors though. Don't bother communicating with Logitech Australia, they have nothing to do with the wheel, as far as they're concerned it's not their product. Since Sony decided to independently import them and given the amount of returns they probably got, one couldn't blame them if they outright refused to sell any more of them.

The wheel is over priced anyway, if I had to buy another one from scratch I'd just import it from somewhere in the US, that way you could get one for cheaper (less than $AU retail here, and that's INCLUDING shipping costs), and you may be able to gain Logitech customer support in the US who will apparently send you a brand new DFP without having to return your faulty one, should the need arise.

The whole situation makes me sick. It's such a shame. Poo to Logitech on this one.

Thats dissapointing to here. I mean I love Australia, but when it comes to gaming we always get shafted in one way or another.

Perhaps you could recommend me a good import site that would ship a DFP to me here in Sydney.

If you've got a VISA card try ebgames.com. I've bought from them before, haven't checked their site in a while though. Beware, they take a while to ship your stuff because they have to wait for ID verification on your overseas VISA card.

Else try lik-sang.com , they have a bank in Aus so it's convenient and they ship fast and cheap.

You should be able to find a DFP on eBay in the US. Just be sure to get a receipt.

It might be worth waiting another 2 weeks to see if Sony gets more stock, 'cause once they've got stock you can claim warranty through them if there's trouble.

Yeah, there are a few local online stores that are claiming stock to arrive on the 13th, though I have called 4 different EBs nearby that cant confirm it.

It's worth it ... I have the MCII and you CANNOT compare the two. The forcefeedback - not vibrate - twitches the wheel in your hand when you hit bumps or rumblestrips, it tries to turn the wheel against you when you take a corner or spin off ... in other words, it accurately - and to a variable degree - simulates the front wheels and whatever resistance they may have on whatever surface they are on.

I would not drive any other game unless it had a wheel like the DFP.
