Hmm, the problem with brake on GT4 with the DFP...Does this affect all the games you use the DFP with?

I read that this is quite a common problem, due to the construction of the pedals and is easily fixed by taking it apart and adjusting the "pots" or something.

Bought the wheel today from Burwood EB. Last one in Sydney!!

Kick ass piece of machinery.

My times with GT4 suck (10min mark with M3) but drifting with this thing is insane.

last time i checked, the M3 could get around the nurburgring in under 9 minutes. I cant remember my time but i got around the ring in 8:02 with n2 tires and a Acura NSX type r without trying much so i'm sure the M3 isnt much slower.... :dopey:

I feel like a broken record... but i really suggest buying richard burns rally also. It is an amazing rally simulation. Nothing else comes close.

At the moment Ive only been playing GT4 and tested it out for a bit with LFS and GTR just to check if I could get it working on the PC.

I do have RBR but have yet to install it, due to insufficient HDD space.

Anyone know what the options for the DFP mean?? As in active steering, power assist and the differences between amatuer, pro and sim in steering type??

I have the Japanese version so I have no idea what they mean.

ATM I am using NO active steering, NO power assist, SIM steering type and strong force feedback with 100% set on the DFP.

Hey, glad to see you found a DFP.

Active steering = tries to prevent you from losing control by manipulating the wheel for you. It's subtle but definitely do not use it. It's sucky, unrealistic and constitutes cheating.

Power assist = simulates power steering in RL by reducing rotational friction when you want to turn the wheel quickly. I have this on because it does not affect force feedback strength and helps if you get sore arms. Since most road and racing cars use power steering I don't consider having this on as cheating.

The amateur, pro and simulation settings dont affect the DFP, they are for the Driving Force wheel only.

Have fun!

Oh and be sure to try out RBR with 540 degrees steering, it's a hoot.

My DFP is dead :(

Whenever it is turned abot 180 degrees so that the GT logo is upside down it makes a really horrible cracking sound and sometimes gets jammed WTF has happened to it??
It's not even my fault, happened when my brother was randomly turning it whilst watching T.V :irked:

Good news is i'm getting a whole new one for FREE, gotta love the logitech people!!! Even without a receipt. The took serial numbers over the phone and my name and address, and basically said that they will order me a new one:D. Strange thing is that when the new one arrives they want me to cut the USB plug off my old one and send it to them in Switzerland!! I figure there's nothing they can do if i don't but i think i will just to be safe.

I must admit i'm glad to be getting a new one as after ALOT of miles across GT4: prologue Toca Race Driver 2 NFS:U2 and of course GT4 i'm sure the force feedback must've gradually became weaker. It'll be intersting to use a fresh one and compare.

Logitech RULE!!

EDIT - I have RBR on PS2, whats the best in-game wheel set up for it for when i get my new DFP?

Ok guys...first post in a while, but i need serious help.

i bought the dfp a really long time ago, like about a year ago. I tried using it but the setup in my room didnt permit me to clamp it down to anything, but all was fine with it from what i observed, then i took it off to colege 2000 miles away and when i got there, it acted different then when i first got it. the wheel didnt auto calibrate and before i could get to an actual gt4 race, the thing would die. OH! i noticed, theres one ac port thats empty. Oh darn i left the damn power chord at home. parents never sent the chord in the mail. got home and the chord was right where i left it. went to a friends house who already had a sweet setup for wheels to use on a huge flat tv with monster cables and surround sound. my heart was pounding the whole time i was settin it up, i was pumped. then once all the proper things are plugged in, it acted the same as the second time. it doesnt auto calibrate, and the wheel itself never works. the buttons on it to navigate the gt4 menus work for a limited time but shortly after, die out. when i do go to a race fast enough with the dpad, the dfp outline diagram on the bottom of the screen shows up but the wheel and pedals dont work. VERY frustrating for a talented drifter.

CAN ANYONE HELP ME?

thanks for listening to my rediculously long post,

Ted

Perhaps it's just broken, if It's still inwarranty then phone logitech and they should replace it pretty easily, see my post above ^.

Also make extra sure that all things are plugged in properly, power, USB and pedals.

Hey 911_gt3_rs, instead of destroying your old DFP and sending it to Switzerland, can you send it to me instead? I'll pay for the shipping, plus a little extra for your effort.

You're so lucky to get that kind of service from Logitech, here they just tell us to bugger off and wait.

About RBR, the best set up is 540 degrees, and wheel linearity "on". It can be insanely difficult at times but highly realistic, great fun and rewarding 👍

So,can anyone answer this question:

The DFP is compatible with the PS2 AND PC?

It works fine with PC. I use it when playing GTR. I must say the force feedback seems to be stronger with GT4. (Could it be because I spend the most track time on grass in GTR)

I have a question.

Will a UK DFP work on a US unit?

I'm guessing the only issue would be power supply? But if you get an adapter (Radio shack sells them pretty cheap), I wouldn't have thought that there would be any problems.

Heck, the power adapater that comes with the US DFP does look like anything special ... I bet you wouldn't even need to get an adapter, but just buy a new power cord/unit.

Perfect. Exactly what I needed to know. Thanks.

Oh and I have been testing the wheel out with RBR and GTR last night for some online action.
Brilliant.

Great wheel this ... no problems at all so far after a few WRs races here ... and that means it's taking a beating ! As it's maybe 100 laps a week of practise ... but the DFP stands up to it all. Used my DS2 a few times last week, but back on the wheel again now, makes it so much more fun to actually make it feel like driving a car ...

Hmmmm... interesting, i've just used it on GT4 and it still works pretty well except for the weirf noise, only thing about your offer is i'm a little anxious about screwing logitech over, i have plenty of USB cables which i could cut the plug from broken Minidisc players the one on the wheel has some sort of number on it, so they might be able to tell - no deal i'm afraid.

Update for anyone in Aus wanting a DFP: the shipment is now officially delayed until September, still no guarantee on that date either.

Good news though, for anyone wanting to claim warranty on a DFP they already bought, Sony's technicians are now repairing them and sending them back to the retailier.
