Andy

Sorry to hear you're laid up again, but at least it's at home and not in the hospital. No Candy-Stripers though . . .

Enjoy those meds, and don't get up too soon, or JR'll call ya a schmuck again!

Best,

Joe

Evening chaps (or whatever the local time is for you.) I just came back from the rather involving task of changing the rear drum shoes on the back of my car. Luckily, rear drums on cars are way different from the rear drums I'll be working with on my new job, working on Semi trucks. I just got hired about 2 days ago and I start on the 12th. I work 40 hours a week at $8 an hour, so I'm pretty happy. Just wanted to share my fortune with you lot. ;)

Cheers,
Corey

Hey guys, thanks for your well wishes, they're very much appreciated. Several years ago I was hanging out at a small GT forum with a close group of guys (8-10) of us from around the world and we would talk sometimes about GTP as a very big site but not much "love", very impersonal. Well after hanging here for the last few years I'm here to tell ya that there's plenty of comaraderie, friendship and "love" despite it's size. I've met many good friends here and consider it home. Thanks again everyone, you're great (mind you I'm still on some pretty heavy narcotics) and It's wonderful to compete with ya'll and I've found some wonderful friends...yeah JR you included, even Neil :). I best stop before I start sounding like a little teenage girl!! I may be too late already.

Hey Neil, how much of a difference does the new tube make? Do you find 16:9 a bit getting used to, it sure was for me, and I really think that GT4 feels different running it on a PS3, anyone else notice it? I'm using a Samsung 32" HDTV with the stereo speakers under my VRC (virtual racing chassis) so the sound rumbles right below me.

Not really thrilled with GTHD so far, but with only one course and a handful of cars it's hard to give a good evaluation, but the graphics are fantastic. I"ve had the PS3 since Jan.1, but didn't use it until about a month ago when they finally added Force Feedback. But what's really neat is that your laps are automatically uploaded and posted online on the PS3, you can also view the top ten replays for each car. This will be a great tool when GT5 comes out and everyone can watch everyone elses replays. If there's any cheating going on in GT4 we won't have to worry about that in GT5.

PS: I'm still waiting to get the GTHD website with the 10 email accounts, the deal should be completed soon, I still have 4 or 5 email accounts left to give away, my closest friends(you know who you are) are already in the works. I'll keep ya posted.

👍 Hamilton .. led the race like a seasoned pro and kept his head .. when all the rest were losing theirs .. a thoroughly deserved win 👍

Alonso does not enjoy Indy .. lets see how he handles the pressure :nervous:

Massa didn't need the rain to make a fool of himself 👎

Ouch!!! I feel tired. Driving for LMS at Sonoma with my Altezza and also testing my Historic 787B...

Apart from these two, still testing a few cars from the Gentlemen's Agreement Series... This is getting tough!!! :ouch:

I'm still thinking if I'll enter Jetboy's new series, I'd really like to!!!

BTW: everyone's invited to join Gentlemen's Agreement Series at the short race series sub-forum, if you're interested ;)

re: Delfino's post above--don't read it if you don't want to know who won the F1 race in Canada yet.

DUDE! Nothing personal, but I haven't finished watching this yet and I scrolled by and it was impossible to miss!

Everyone needs to check out this thread:

(I don't know how to make this work yet, but I wanted to put it out there)

Thanks,

Joe

Hi!!! To hide text, just type: [ spoiler]text in here[ /spoiler], without the spaces inside the parenthesis.

Have fun!!!

My apology Chollo .. i wont do it again .. i woke at 2.30 am to watch the race live .. have long been a fan of LH .. and couldn't help to share some joy regarding his 1st F1 win 👍

If i'd known you hadn't watched the race .. i would have held up .. i'll check with you 1st in the future :) { he has many more victories ahead of him }

No prob, Delfino, it happens. :) I usually catch it live, but I've been doing the 7-day work week thing lately ...

👍 to LH for a solid drive.

Anyone know if Le Mans will be broadcast in the US this weekend?

EDIT: Found it. Looks like SPEED channel will be broadcasting the event.

My wife HATES Lemans weekend (and Sebring, Daytona 24 . . .). She's probably going to the beach. 👍

Can't say I enjoy all of the horse training stuff she watches either. :indiff:

Speaking of LeMans, and this question goes out to all who are in here, how are you planning to spend the weekend watching it? With friends and/or family? By yourselves? Have special party plans for it? And are you figuring in plans to see the USGP @ Indy as well?

This would make for one extraordinary GT Party Weekend if we were to all get together in person! ;)

Me too. By myself most likely - for all the races.

Now, next year for Le Mans, it would be amazing if we could all meet at Le Mans. Might get a package deal - still have to start saving for it now.

Pretty much the same here - by myself - camping out on the rec room sofa to get glimpses of the overnight action. And if I know the SPEED TV crew, they'll probably have the Radio LeMans audio feed on to suppliment the TV feed during the overnight(LeMans time) hours.

@ ERacer: I dunno how much it'll cost for this planned get-together to be completely pulled off. Any ideas? MY guess it'll be in at least the US$800 - 2,000 range.

Also, I was thinking we should be on the lookout for any PlayStation 3, GT-HD and/or GT5 advertisment signs on the Sarthe circuit during the race. I wouldn't be surprised if we get to see such a thing this year. ;)

General admission tickets are from Euro 55 - Euro61 which includes the weekend + test day. Prices for the Grand Stand are not listed - have to call as it depends on the Stand. So, the real expense, besides the refreshments ;) would be airfare and lodging. Round trip airfare could be USD600-700. Have to check out lodging - probably sky high prices for that weekend around LeMans.

check out www.lemans.org and click on English flag on right, unless you parle vous francais.

Camping is the way to go for Le Mans guys!

Not that you would get much sleep mind you, the party goes on all through the night, as does the racing of course.

I'd be up for a mass-meeting of the minds next year. We'll have to work out the details.
Though it'd be a lot cheaper for me anyway, only a few train journies (including the Chunnel)

That has me wondering if there is a place or two near the track that specializes in camping equipment rentals? For me, it would be a logistical pain to pack a load of camping gear onto the jet for the big hop across The Pond for the big race weekend. Also, does the LeMans website have anything as to Group Rates?

From what I can see on the website, if one person joins the Club 24 thingy(which costs 13.5 euro), he will then get 15 euro off each ticket he purchases from 4-6 tickets.
Plus each ticket gets club 24 special priviledges like access to a cheaper bar, special viewing terraces, showers, descent loo's, etc.

As for camping equipment, all you would need is a tent, a doss-bag, roll-mat, and spare clothes.
Myself and my best mate are maybe gonna go in his van next year, and we take all the luxury stuff like a gazebo, BBQ, lights, music, genny, seating, tables etc, etc!

As we usually go (to watch the bikes) in a group of 10-12, we have a lot of 'group' gear that makes things more pleasant.

We'll have to plan it right, and sort out the details. But I am confident that it's not an insurmountable problem for a load of us to meet up at next year's race.

Neil

You call that camping ? !
Geez :( sounds like a hotel with wheels :)
You're getting old mate ! ... just toss the thing on the ground like in the old days... or in my case.... tie myself to the trunk and branch of a tree up about 6-10 meters ... now, that's camping ! LOL

Hey, hang on a bleeding minute!

I'd be happy to do that bud!
Just like you, been there done that!

But we usually have females with us, and there is no way they would put up with a poncho, 3 sticks & a bit of para-cord for a shelter, a gore-tex bivvy bag, and a knife & spark stick. Like I used to do it if I was on the bike.

Plus, it's really nice to sit down on a chair, with lighting and a chilled beer, after a hard day's spectating. And the loverly air-mattress she insists on taking is great for my back!

Yeah, I give up! I'm getting old!:grumpy: :(

Neil

Oyi !
I couldn't help but give you some there mate :sly:
It was too easy of a shot not to take :dopey:
besides, I'm just jealous there chum - that you could even consider going 👍

I know you've been there, done that, have the t-shirt
and ya, it bites getting old !

As my elderly neighbor said to me "Andy, getting old ain't for sissies"

@GT3Emperor

Man, I've tried to figure out your avatar, but just can't get it, don't seem to have the right drugs or something :)

But it's driving me crazy (_er), what is it?

Saw this in our company's garage this morning. I ran into my office and asked a co-worker to follow me out with her phone-camera: Ford 427 Shelby Cobra.
