I'm going to hold out as long as possible before the 13th to try and see if we get a concrete English release date. If there is nothing new by early december then I'm preordering.

Good idea, think I'll do the same. When GT4 came out in Japan I bought a Japanese PS2 and GT4, so I had it about 5 weeks before the US release. Then sold the PS2 on Ebay with the GT4 disc and only lost about $30. Well worth it.

My view, for what it's worth is......

ALL PS3's are region free, so is the software (just doesn't mean they will make it multi-lingual from the start)

So........if you can (or are willing to learn which box is what, by trial and error) get the Japanese version from the Sony shop using your Japanese account (assuming you have a multi-national credit card, or a Japanese one)

Yes you will get it before some of the other guys, but that is negated by the fact that most of the guys you want to race against, will NOT have it, so you will not be able to race against them anyway.....'till they all get a copy!

Oopps?

Am I playing devil's advocate again?

Neil

Lady and Gentlemen, I would like to proudly introduce you to my lovely baby daughter, Grace Claire-Louise!

Nice try Neil, no, I'll get it early so I can have some practice so I can stay somewhat competitive with the likes of you and those other guys!!! I should actually get handicapped because of age....JR too, and Neil you're not that far behind buddy:)

How's that?

In time periods between download dates or Age gaps?

Don't you start sassin' me about age there good buddy! You already get a +4 second handicap in the WES! Just because you are a mate (So no-one thinks there's any bias going on! You understand,.....Don't you? )

So don't go making it any worse for yourself by calling me an old fart like you and J.R.

Jeeze!

Old Gits can't half get defensive when age is mentioned! Am I right?:)

The reports I saw show Feb 08 for US release so I went ahead and ordered from Play Asia. Release date 12-13, then 3 -4 days shipping, $69.50 total. Could have saved a few bucks for 10 -14 day delivery but patience is not one of my virtues. Now for the G2 cockpit....I wish but I think I'll wait till after the holidays and see if my checking account has any money left...doubtful.

Sorry man a typo, supposed to be G25: Here's some info

Sit down, turn off the lights, and crank up the sound. You're not playing games anymore; with the G25, you're racing.

Features:

Choose exactly the right gear for the turn, or select Reverse with a realistic 'push-down' action. Leather-wrapped shift knob

They run about $250.00 which really isn't bad.

Oh, the G25 wheel. I thought you were talking about a new cockpit design. I'm looking at the G25 wheel also, but that wheel won't fit in my current cockpit. So, looks like when GT5 comes out I'll be shopping around for a PS3, the G25 wheel and a new cockpit. Time to start saving.

The guy that I bought my cockpit from "Bob Earl Racing" sells an adapter for the G25 wheel. Go check out his website:bobearlracing.com.

Think I'll order the G25 wheel, the hell with waiting. Just got confirmation of GT5 Prologue being shipped from Japan on or before Dec 13. It would be great to get the new wheel and GT5 at the same time. It'll be my Christmas gift to myself.
Hey Phil, Bob is a real nice guy, was a pro driver back in the 70's and 80's, won lots of big races, Sebring 24 hours is the only one that comes to mind. He wants to use my critique of his cockpit for his website. Maybe he'll give me the shifter adapter:)

Sebring 24 Hours? :odd: I think you mean the Sebring 12 hours as I sure don't recall a 24 hour race at Sebring.

I must have added in driving time there and back. Actually I haven't been to Sebring for 20 years. It sure seemed like 24 hours to me :)

EDIT: Ordered Japanese GT5 Prologue, then figured I might as well order the G25 wheel and an adapter for the shifter for my cockpit. Should be all set.

EDIT 2: Just in case anyone is looking to buy the G25 wheel, PC Nation is the cheapest price at $247.79 which includes free 2-3 day Fedex shipping.

EDIT 3: Ordered wheel yesterday at PC Nation and it's being delivered today...talk about fast service!!!

If anyone is interested in a DFP wheel just PM me. I have 2 DFP's and am going to keep one of them as backup to the G25.

Thanks Drew for the offer, I have been meaning to get back to you. I think, however, that i'll stick to my DS2. I would like to try the wheel, but i know i don't have time to re-learn to drive...which is what that would be sadly. I might end up with a wheel when GT5 comes out and i end up buying my PS3 though.

I'll tell ya Chris, once you get used to the wheel you would never go back to the DS2. I don't even remember how to use a DS2 since I don't play anything other then GT. You just have so much more feel for the car with a wheel, going down the Mulsanne straight in a race car you can barely hold onto the wheel with the Force Feedback on. I can't wait for the shifter adapter for my cockpit to arrive so I can hook-up the G25 wheel and start using a clutch.
If you change your mind Chris I'll be glad to ship it to you.

A G25 down here costs around $500.oo ! .... still want one though .

Dels waiting for GT5 before getting a PS3 .. and i'm going to build my own cockpit .. maybe then the G25 will be a better a price .

I got the G25 for $247 with free overnight shipping. It arrived 21 hours after I ordered it online.

I just got a taker on the DFP so it's gone guys.

Thought i'd post a pic .. to prove Neils hint works {and that i can read english}

The Aussie Racing Car combines current racing technology and performance in a one-design class where all cars are mechanically identical with strict rules in place to maintain that position. 4 different body styles cater to the liking of all tastes. Classic Ford and Holden body style for the nostalgia buffs and Falcon and Commodore body styles which replicate the V8 Supercars…. and all in approximately half size The drivers skill level is the determining factor for winning contention in Aussie Racing competition.

Cars are constructed on a purpose built steel tubular space frame chassis with integral roll cage construction designed and approved to stringent engineering specifications. The lightweight composite body is a faithfully designed caricature of its full size counterpart featuring opening doors, boot and lift off front section. Powered by a 1.2 litre 125 BHP twin cam 16 valve engine that revs to 11500 RPM. the performance is exhilarating. The 450 kg all up weight provides an incredible power to weight ratio that allows the little machine to rocket to a speed of well in excess of 200KPH The Lap times achieved are staggering, at Oran Park for example the cars lap within 6 seconds of a V8 Supercar.

They feature fully adjustable suspension geometry, huge brakes and controlled competition tyres that produce extremely high grip levels. The drivers experience behind the wheel is akin to the thrill and excitement normally only experienced by V8 Supercar or Formula Car racing drivers. All cars are hand built in the Aussie Racing Car facility and supplied ready to race.

The cockpit layout is purpose built and functional. The racing seat and five point racing harness holds the driver firmly and comfortably in place as the incredible cornering g-forces rocket the car off the corners. The steering is light, fast and precise with only one turn lock to lock and requiring minimal steering movement during racing. The sequential gear lever falls easily to hand up close to the steering wheel and the carbon fibre dash displays the necessary instrumentation. The chassis design incorporates simplicity in suspension adjustment to cater for all drivers likings including castor/camber, sway bar, roll centre and ride height etc. brakes have simple front to rear bias adjustment.

Fantastic pics there Marty! 👍

You can see the whites of their eyes!

Though I would suggest re-sizing future pics to around 800x600 for those of us without ADSL.
Load times would be awful otherwise.
Also, you can put multiple pics in one post too, but practice makes perfect and this is the right thread to practice in.
Seems I have opened the flood-gates with my 'how-to' :)

Neil

:idea:Another suggestion I can make is to have thumbnails to the images that you have so that people here can click to see them if they so choose.;)

And for the sake of asking Marty, where and when were these pics taken? I'd say the Bathurst 1000 race, but I'm not certain...

Yep .. i'll re-size these images when i get the time {this week} .. and will get around to posting multiples on the same thread / thumbnail option is a good idea , and now that i know its possible .. will use it in the future .

Pictures taken at Oran Park Raceway {Sydney Australia} .. 17th August this year . Taken from the spectator area , because it's damned hard to get a photographers pass {working on next year's race as it will be lthe last ever race on the circuit .. Australian V8 Supercar Series}

Bathurst is a very hard circuit to get decent photos .. to do so you need at least a 300mm 2.8 lens along with a press/photographers pass/accreditation .

::sigh:: Another Austrailian track bites the dust.:guilty: Oran Park is an interesting track to race on given how it's configured. Only thing is that the crossover bridge comes after a more agressive uphill ascent compared to say Suzuka. Anything on how that track will be replaced in the Sydney area? I think there was talk about building another track in the Sydney area and maybe giving it a similar configuration to the original Oran Park, but I'm not sure.

As for the camera, what did you use? Dunno if it was one of those 35mm digital cameras, but I imagine it was given how those photos came out. As for me, I have a Sony CyberShot. Though I haven't had a chance to use it at any races yet.:embarrassed:
