You mean the coverage, right? So I didnt miss it yet? :dopey:

No, unfortunately, the "real" race is done, and DC is home drinking tea and eating effing scones. I'm sure there'll be replays available so you can watch the "event that all the world can participate in" over and over again as many times as you want.

Quick question guys, I haven't had the chance to turn on my PS3 yet, I'm in NYC, are we getting the seasonal event and is it live yet or is it just in Europe?

I watched the event live online and I'm not 100% sure yet as I haven't watched any replays but I think DC cut the first left 3rd gear corner, the one with all the stripes on the left. If I recall in the pre race lap walk, Brundle said that your not allowed to cross that line, which would mean DC gained probably .500 sec just on that section. anyone else have a thought on this?

Well havent you all been busy!!!!! 11 pages!! This has to be my most successful thread EVER.

Seeing as I am home already due to living down the road from the venue I will update you all in some sort of attempt to keep people happy :)

We all met outside the hotel again seeing as this appears to have become the finalists meeting place and had our role call taken again and this time we were actually signed up for the days events. Much to a few peoples amusement we were told that there could very well be a breathaliser used on some people due to the fact that some people had gon a little heavy on the drink the night before. It really shouldnt make me chuckle but, if you are going to be silly and drink to the point of being drunk why on earth would you think they are going to let you drive a £200,000 car the next day? Strange.
We were frog marched, and by frog march I mean casually walked over to Mercedes again. We were taken up to the 1st floor and signed in once again however in exchange for our signatures we were given a lanyard and also had our driving liscences taken. We were devided into 3 groups and sent off to do various tasks. "What was your first task fraggle" I hear you all screaming. it's funny you should ask as I am just about to enlighten you all. Off road driving and stuff. You really would not believe the angles that the ML will go to when driving up and down not only stairs and also if you find yourself stuck and the only exit is up or down a 40 degree slope. Long story short the off road bit was brilliant. After the offroad section it was time to scale a flight of stairs and make my way to the "pods". Pod 6 was mine. I can only assume that the time i set was soo blistering fast it couldnt register on the console and instead decided to throw up a 1:17.5 This is a terrible time and I geuninly wish I had practiced more than I had. The way it was done was our fastest time was taken from our first 10 minute run. then we would have a small rest then run another 10 minutes and our 2 fastest laps would be taken from the second run giving us three timed laps over all. This is the point where I was knocked clean out. My heart ache was short lived.
I went down to the bottom level and a lady approached me. I was asked to follow her and go outside. I was shown to a Mercedes C36 estate. "Do you want to go on the power sliding track or just go straight to the main track?" "Straight to the track please. No, Can we do the power slides thing first?" I fired the car up and we moved into position. "When ready move out onto the track and drive round it" I moved ontot he circle track and was told "put your foot to the floor and see how easily it breaks traction" With a V8 gurgle the back tires span to life and the back twitched a tiny bit. The smile on my face grew. I moved to a point of driving around the cirlce then thought sod it and gave the car another boot full of right foot. Suprise suprise the car span and I kept a little bit of throttle on to keep the wheels spinning in a desperate hope to drive the car out of the spin. I gave up on this idea once the car progressed into the "its going backwards" situation. After that I was a little bit more careful but rest assured I span it again. After a few minutes of this the instructor suggested we move onto the north track and do some laps. Sadly due ot the first spin I had done on the car the power steering fluid had boiled and the power steering had simply stopped moving which made the wheel feel like it weighed about a million tons. With this wonderful failure also came a fairly high pitch whining noise. The instructor got ontot he radio and another car was brought round for me. The next car is a car I genuinly have been in love with ever since I saw my first one. The Mercedes C65 salloon. I was in heaven. Whilst i love the estate the salloon is nothing short of pretty and powerful!! You get the same V8 warble and even better looks than the estate. In many ways I prefered this car to what came next. After 4 laps or so the instructor said to me "Come on, let's get you in the SLS" With my nerves on edge and my heart racing I walked over to the maroon SLS sat in the parking space near the track. I handed my camera to the lady who had been keeping an eye on the unused cars. She agreed to take some video of me and also some pics of me going around the track. I sat in the seat and once the instructor was sat next to me he said i could move into position. I did. We let 2 cars pass then he said when you are ready you can enter the track. With a MASSIVE V8 woof I floored the throttle and with a smlight chirp the car rocketed forwards toward the first corner. At this point I was a little taken a back and lifted off and crept around the first corner. By the end of the first lap I was tryign to push the car ad my little heart stopped with every boot full of V8 I gave it. I could go on about this all day but for now I will move on.......... Watch this space for the next installment no doubt in the next 24 hours but for now due to my serious lack of sleep and very full day I am signing off from this blog for the day............

DC is home drinking tea
I always thought his drink of choice was chin and tonic?

Just did the Seasonal event - it's not too bad. I found a slight dab on the handbrake can buy you a ton of time in the first corner!

Trust me, DC cut a LOT of corners. Had they of been as strict with him as they were him then he would never have come close.

The penalty for even nudging a white line in the seasonal event is ridiculous! Its also glitch somehow for me. when the time goes red for me it dosent go away. I tested it by taking down a cone slowly and then driving around in 1st gear and never even close to full trottle, keeping inside the lines. After 3 laps it stiull hadent goon away -.-

They were REALLY strict about the rules. If more than half your car went over the white line then we had 5 seconds added to our times. Even if the game didnt discount our time they added 5 seconds. It made it much harder as most people couldnt use the lines they normally do in the game.

Does anyone know if you live in the US but have a UK PSN account, if you can access the season event? Thanks.

Just a heads up, last time I looked the fella in first managed to cuts large portion of Chicago without being penalised...

I see wy the did it but I still think the red time should go away after a clean lap, tho I heard it wont what ever you do. so starting over and over again gets kinda repeative.

Just go on the leaderboard, click his name and save replay... then watch it :) I think he went through the tyres but instead of rounding the corner sorta straight lined it.

How'd you guys get to do this?! I'm serious I live in the US and I don't see it anywhere?

Wow, DHolland broke the 1:15 barrier. I'm currently on 1:20, but I break the wheel out tomorrow. :D

Currently ranked 20th in the world with a 1.17,838. First is 1.16.5xx... Penalty's are a lot harsher, driving is harder. Gold= 1million CR

So by that at 1.17. 53 at the event wasn't too bad.
At the event we had judges sitting just behind us we were told much more than half the dials over the White line was a 5sec added to that lap time(EVEN if the lap didn't go red).

How annoying was legard? He made the guy who won lose concentration and crash. What a fool.

Well done to you though.

Yeah, they did the same thing for the GT5 portion of the SLS Sig Ed comp for us. Makes it sooooo much harder to not be able to use the white lines like normal.

It was a LOT louder than the qualifying round sometimes I couldn't hear the car even with the headphones on.
Note to self next time ask to turn up headphones before race..... Oh wait next time LOL.
