Feel for those not able to take part, I watched the coverage from work and now can't wait to have my own turn tonight! The simulation was very well matched, i thought the GT5 players were going to own for one reason alone - fear. Coulthard crashes, major off and no recovery (probably). If we crash, no biggy and no side effects apart from 1 lap ruined. Its very easy therefore to find the limits of each corner since you can venture beyond it without regret.

coulthard line did anhilate the lines of the circuit, however given that people are now beating him I don't think it has "ruined" the challenge at all (unless you were thinking every GT5 owner and his dog was going to be 2 seconds a lap faster than an ex F1 driver?).

To those able to access the seasonal, if you don't make it in your first 15 minute session are you able to have another go at it?

I like the fact if you hit a cone, even the last cone on the outside of a turn because the back end steps out slightly you get an invalid lap yet DC was taking racing lines that would completely wipe out a row of cones and its good

I managed a 1'17.305 in the 'available time' on my sixaxis with no sound. I'm pleased with that! I see the seasonal is available until the 26th so I may just dust off my wheel. I'd like to see what Maz can do,...the way he was talking he should show DC how it's done.

Incidentally, I have now golded it - 1'17.900 - and, to confirm, there is a 1m credit reward, no XP and no items beyond that. I've also noticed that if you invalidate any lap in a session, every subsequent lap is invalidated, so you'll need to restart.

Yes, it is. I've noticed that traction control adds a lot of understeer, but with TCS off, the SLS is extremely tail happy, especially with comfort tires...

Why does everyone need to get the gold? If it was easier then it wouldn't be a challenge! i haven't even attempted it yet but know silver will be an achievement for me. Besides, the gold time is over a second behind DC in real life. I was expecting them to release it after, with his time setting the bar for gold.

Ahemm I should have said. The standing start part was a reply to a post about it being faster than the Stigs time. And the reason it is faster is because there is no such thing as a standing start on the TG track within the game that PD made called GT5.
