The Metal ThreadMusic

For the Adam D fans out there...

Wrote the album this song is off when he was in hospital having back surgery and it was touch and go he would ever play in a band again... Jesse Leach on vocals too. I like it, but i think KSE can do no wrong :)

All of the bands on the top half of this page suck. How do you listen to that crap?

Amazing album...

And since Emptysoul loves German bands so much... How about another unappreciated 80's Trash band.

and something new...

Here I am to promote another german Metal - Band.
Leave some thoughts

Never got into Megadeth that much. Sure, some songs are quite cool to listen to, but I could never listen to the voice of Mustaine for more than 10 Minutes

Dude I love you :) no homo
But yea HSB is such an amazing band. I am really in love with their single "Endzeit"

@r2nyGT5: Oh yeah. HSB are very atmospheric for Metalcore - Standarts.

@Prosthetic: Sodom are great. Saw them live 2x now, Onkel Tom is such a nice and relaxed guy to talk to. But I still prefer Kreator more.

@jdmyo93: "Endzeit" is a great Song, one of the best Album from them "Iconoclast".
Like them a lot, not only because they're german :D

Let's see, Megadeth, Meshuggah, Mnemic, some pretty recognizable bands there, some at or near the fore front of their genre. If you think all of them suck, I have to question what you're doing reading a metal thread. Here's another "crappy song" from a "crappy band":

Im a huge thrash metal junkie, I like Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Testament, Pantera, Overkill, and Exodus.

You might also like Voivod and Nuclear Assault. You can also try out Municipal Waste.

I had an awesome idea for a Metal Movie. No, it wont be a corny rockband flick. Just hear me out:
Scene:
Set sometime in the future. WAY into the future.
A Desert landscape, concrete rubble can be seen sticking out of the floor. An outline of a deteriorating city in the background. Several travelers and hunters roam looking for water and food. One of them trips over a hard steel box in the floor. He opens it, and inside contains metal magazines from almost every decade.
*Cue Judas Preist - The Hellion*
As the open each book, the camera pans across over the images of guitars, metal album covers, Metal bands and concerts.
*Roll opening credits*
*fast forward time lapse video*
The camera zooms out to the surrounding landscapes. Civilization starts up again, old abandoned cities are resurrected, large structures of guitars, guitar picks, fret boards, Amps, and Devil horns rises around the land. The only thing that managed to survive the apocalypse from the before time was Metal VHS tapes and Vinyls (Lol)
That's the intro, then it would be accompanied by different genres of metal and revolves around the conflict these genres have with one another. A man was hired by a man in Metalopolis to bring up a deal to each of the other Metal Nations to have peace. However, he faces many dangers along the way, from zombies to robots (lol) each from a different part of the Metal Continent. The man then reaches the shores of Architectus city (Progressive metal), sails to Coke De Glam (Glam metal dur) (the city is situated out of mainland Metal) And sees from the large river of Coke De Glam, the city of Pop. And thats all I have at the moment. Along his journey you'll meet stereotyped metal heads including metalcore fans, black metal knights, etc.

I also like the classics of metal like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Aerosmith, AC/DC, Van Halen, KISS, Thin Lizzy, and more. Also some current bands are great like System of a Down, Slipknot, Disturbed, KoRn, Killswitch Engage, Hatebreed, Mastodon, Five Finger Death Punch, Godsmack, Bullet for my Valentine, Atreyu, and especially Avenged Sevenfold.

While I have no problem with you listening to them.. bands such as Aerosmith, AC/DC, KISS, SOAD, Slipknot, Disturbed, KoRn, Godsmack, BFMV, Atreyu and A7x are usually frowned upon in this thread. Just a forewarning.

AC/DC is ok, Kiss is fine aswell, A7X's first few albums were good, then it just sucked. Bullet For My Valentine isn't that bad either. Everything else though sucks.

errrrrrrr.......is Bullet for my Valentine real metal? I like their songs :D and I'm not talking about their new album Fever. The Poison will always be their best album

It is metal, but compared to other metal bands, they are WAY at the bottom. If BFMV is your first metal band, its a start.

I can't stand KISS with a passion. There is nothing metallic about there music, nothing that makes you want to stand up fight off a army. No motivation.. its just... there. Background music. I will admit I've had a friend showed me a few early A7x songs and they weren't bad. And I have an infinite respect for Mike Portnoy so I give the band a pass.

It has metal influences but I find them way to bland. They don't really have there own sound and I find their vocalist to be an insult to metal.

Agreed, one of the first bands I listen to that got me kick started was Tirivium. They have a few good songs but other then I find them very meh now. The other being Children of Bodom but I don't find them as so much an insult as lets get really drunk and play really loud. One band of the genre that I still listen to very often is DevilDriver. I in fact really enjoyed their latest release Pray for Villains which I found be a very enjoyable album if you can get around the bad song titles.

A buddy of mine dropped of an Eidolon album today....The Parallel Otherworld. I knew of Shawn and Glen Drover becuase of their time in Megadeth (Shawn still in the band, Glen played in it for about 3 years). I have to say I was quite impressed with it. It's progressive but with some definite mid to late 90's Testament influence.

^Not bad.

Mike Portnoy (ex-Dream Theater) announced on Twitter he's working on a project with Russell Allen (Symphony X). Both my favorite drummer and favorite singer working togheter, can't wait!

That should be interesting, will have to check that out. Dream Theater is going to regret not giving Mike a break and pretty much firing him. They have lost so much crediblity and are going to receive a huge backlash from fans, regardless of who's behind the drums (unless it's Neil Peart). I saw them live when they opened for Iron Maiden on their 2010 US Final Frontier Tour and Mike was an absolute beast 👍

What do you guys think about this:

I usually don't like vocals like this, but theres something about the music that I love that no other genre has done for me...
In the video version, they changed the song and vocals, and it sucks. But I'm referring to the music.
I'm also a fan of Tesseract and Vildhjarta, something about these prog bands, maybe its the atmospheric tone...

But where do you get the video id from, i have been putting the name of the band and the name of the song and getting a blank screen after previewing it.

See this link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NBfuLclYYlA
see the /watch?v= ? thats telling youtube to go to that video. The Video ID Is right after that, which is NBfuLclYYlA.
now, all you have to do is type this:
PHP:

Man, I don't mind listening to more alternative stuff, and I have to say, I often listen to bands like Disturbed and Flyleaf and stuff (I like to have some variety within the Metal/Rock genre, being it pure Metal, or Progressive, passing through Death Metal, Metalcore, Nu-Metal, etc). I listen to what I like, and don't care if people say X or Y are a disgrace to Metal or whatever. I didn't quite like the song you posted there and at first was like, WTF? Is this even Metal?. Being a bit too on the pop side, I respect you for bringing something quite different and as I good citizen and despite not liking that one song (the vocals alone kind of throw me off), I decided to search one more song by that band and I must say, I'm impressed. They're sound is so immense, and the riffs are kind of Messhuggy.
If the vocalist only growled or if he had a better singing voice, it would be perfect.

Most people say its 'djent' metal due to the similar sound to meshuggah. Periphery isn't bad, some songs are masterpieces. I guess thats what usually happens in Experimental bands. And the vocals, He does sort of growl, but yeah, the band would be perfect if it got rid of his clean vocals. If they do clean vocals, at least make it sound epic not airy lol.
Here is an awesome version:

and heres the song with no vocals (AWESOME)

^^The instrumental only version is awesome.

Anyway, as of lately, I've been listening to:

Soilwork latest album, The Panic Broadcast, and I must say, it's a pretty good album and much much better than Sworn to a Great Divide (they're worst IMO).

Stam1na latest album, Viimeinen Atlantis, is exactly what I would expect a Stam1na album to sound like. Pretty energetic and catchy.

Engel latest album, Threnody, is full of amazing and groovy songs, another great album

And now, just for fun, a little Lamb of God, :D
