No, Overkill got Take Up a New Profession cause Overkill sucks. Theres a reason they didn't sell millions of albums.

And why do you declare yourself the end all be all of Metal heads on the site but you listen to Machine Head?

I'm assuming the first bit is sarcasm judging most of your past comments as you seem to just spew **** out of your ass for giggles.

And I have never declared myself to be the end all be all... Unless your going to show me an actual quote this is more bs being spewed out. Machine Head as released some stuff that I like, and a bunch that I haven't liked. Simple as that.

Burn My Eyes was an awesome record, as was The Blackening, but the stuff in between was generaly sub par. Great live band though.

Yep, those are the two albums I like. They have a few good songs on there other albums with a lot of boring filler and lots of rap crap. But American High is a fun song. But other then that I would agree they are a better live band then anything else. I actually haven't listened to MH in a good while. Maybe tonight I will load some up.

Also would like to add that MH had there influences in the wrong places and The Blackening was a good turn around. I believe they are in studio this year so hopefully they continue to go back to there roots.

Prosthetic...in response to my post...I have to agree with pretty much everything you pointed out in replying to me. First off...my bad for making the assumption that nobody would really recognize any of the older groups that paved the way for the newer generations. Thinking that the average age of members to be on the young side was a poor oversight on my part. Which leads me to my next point...the main reason I did post those bands was due to what I thought would be familiar bands to the younger crowd. As far as KSE, I knew those guys before they all formed KSE...so, I still kinda like 'em...at least when Jesse Lynch was still in the band.
Sabbath-I love 'em, always have. I've always known they were doom.
I also agree with you about me saying to "look back a few years"...into 'look ahead'. Again, I was of the mindset that most members here were of a younger persuasion. Obviously, I was wrong. Another point..never said Overkill was good or that I liked 'em. Back when I was in high school, for some reason they were quite popular. I never really got into them, couldn't stand the guys vocals. And I agree about Metallica...blech. In my opinion, after Master of Puppets it was all bunk.
And as far as grindcore...hmm, well...yeah, it's all noise. But I cut my teeth on Napalm Death back in '89 so I've always liked a small amount of grindcore. Incidentally, kudos to you for appropriately classifying them as grindcore. I've never met anyone that has agreed with me on that point, ever.
And again, I agree that there are way too many bands out there that do try way too hard to be the nastiest, heaviest, most hardcore band around.
One more thing...nice quote from Rob Flynn. Great band. Did you ever hear him when he was playing guitar for Vio-lence? Back when Rob brought Phil Demmel into MH I was ecstatic. Those 2 are great together, especially live. They put on a great show.

Hope there's no hard feelings. I meant no harm nor was it my intention to try to school you about sub-genre's...you obviously need no schooling sir.
Thanks for the reply

I'm not exactly old, I'm 20. I'm still very young considering how long music been around. But I know the evolution of metal very well and how every decade seems to be a flavor. I have no problem with KSE I just don't like them. Never got into them but I listen to plenty of bands similar to them. And more power to you for knowing them.

As for Overkill, they have 4-5 albums that I really enjoy some of there other stuff is just more of the same with some good stuff here and there. They should be popular back then considering they were one of the first along with Exodus. But those two bands were more overshadowed by the Fab4.

And as for Robb Flynn and Vio-Lence, yeah I have heard of them. When I first got into thrash I took an extra liking to the local Bay Area thrash bands so maybe that's why I have a soft spot for MH. But funny enough when I responded to my first post I was listening to Vio-Lence.

I agree completely. Despite the fact the Big 4 are indeed great bands, the likes of Exodus, Testament, Overkill, etc. often get unfairly passed over. Personally, I think that Exodus, Overkill and Testament put out a much more consistent catalog. Aside from Slayer, the Big 4 had a period during the 90's where they all seemed to experiment and bring alternative elements to their music. Overkill's The Years of Decay and Horrorscope are tow of the most underrated albums of all time. Testament and Exodus practically wrote the handbook of Bay Area Thrash (with help from early Metallica, Sadus and Vio-Lence and such). Yet, despite an undeniably large contribution to the genre, they continue to be marginalized because they've never charted in the Top 40.

No I spew **** out of my ass to clear my bowells.

And I completely forgot about Machine Head's good albums. It's been a while. I just remember discovering the rap metal albums and never wanting anything to do with them ever.

And no sarcasm, Overkill sucks... Just cannot get into them.

Also, you sir remind me of one of my super duper metal-head friends (He has a Dimebag portrait on his arm, and he picked a pretty bad artist so I ask him if it's rob zombie all the time), and I argue with him all the time for the fun of it. I don't want you to take when I quote you as I got a problem with you or your posts (I just like to argue). Musical taste is completely subjective and opinionated, and thats why it's so fun to argue about. I mean, I have the wierdest tastes ever. One day I'm listening to Cursive all day, next day I'll fire up some Cannibal. Also, Metalheads have such a passion and are so easily fired up that it's fun to me.

And this song rips:

Also, for you open minded metal-heads wanting some technical music (that's punk based, wierd right?) check a wilhelm scream out. (language warning)

Jup, A Wilhelm Scream are really cool 2 listen 2 from time 2 time. :D

What about The Dillinger Escape Plan? One of the greatest in Modern Metal/Core

I haven't really dug into Dillinger as much as I should have. What I've heard though is great. I'm also pretty into Every Time I Die.

Speaking of things not entirely metal, I get pretty into the mathy stuff sometime. I'm a real big Converge fan.

Went to see them and the show was 20X more intense then any Metal show I've been to.

Also, Coalesce played. Which this song rules majorly.

Jup... If you like a little more tracky but still melodic Mathcore, than you should definetly check out TDEP.

Converge are god, no doubt about that. "Jane Doe" was one of the greatest Albums ever released in Core.

Agalloch are amazing! Isis also. Never listen to Textures before, but sounds quite interresting :)

You Guys know "Ulver"... that is pure chilling music!

You said this perfectly! 👍

Fair enough 👍 Hard to tell over text. I have a friend very similar to you except for the the fact that you have completely different music tastes. He gives me a hard time then I put on a Sabbath style band and tells me this is good **** and asks what it is and I tell him metal.

@Converge, Isis, Agallach, Ulver, Nearea 👍 I have all of em in my computer and Ulver is on my list of stuff to get.

They are, they used to be part of the countless meshuggah-based bands, however they slowly turned itself away from that and developed a unique sound.

some good stuff in that^. Though the vocals are meh. I like his clean vocals better.

Nearea is not bad, but the vocals aren't what I like.

And where does the current singer come from? Right! Germany!
Very cool band.... but I prever Dark Tranquillity and At The Gates more for Melo Death Metal :)

But Arch Enemy still owns.

Prosthetic-Sybreed are pretty gnarly, remind me of Soilwork/In Flames

r2nyGT5-Scar Symmetry have changed quite a bit from the last time I heard 'em..that's a sweet song. Might have to check them out again.
Textures are insane. I don't care if they're lumped into the Meshuggah-esque groups, they've a got huge balls-to-the-wall sound. Love it!
Oh yeah, thanks a lot for posting these vids guys, I have got to go pick these cd's up. They'll sound absolutely HUGE in my jeep.

Now this song here is a new one for the Guitar Zero games, and is from one of my favorite bands. Guitar work is insane!

I really love that mess of notes at :22, very chaotic. Sounds awesome. Lol Guitar Zero. How awesome would it be if a game like Guitar Hero was made, but using a real guitar? Something like a mic that is plugged into the game, and it can sense the notes your playing and on what octave. That would be awesome. You can potentially learn real songs that way.

Here I am to promote another german Metal - Band.
Leave some thoughts :)

Never got into Megadeth that much. Sure, some songs are quite cool to listen to, but I could never listen to the voice of Mustaine for more than 10 Minutes :D

:drool::indiff::guilty::drool:👍
My reaction to that song^
Seriously, that was beautiful and creepy and awesome and depressing.

Textures sound pretty good, kind of the same style as Mnemic

Not a big fan of Heaven Shall Burn. They have some decent songs though, but nothing that attracts me much. I prefer Caliban in that genre:
