Anybody ever heard of Sirens & Sailors?

Everybody who likes/loves Metalcore/Deathcore/Post - Hardcore or maybe some of you Metalheads should give them a try. Listen to them since 2 Weeks and I've stuck to this band/album.

And So I wanted to show it to you guys, and maybe some of you will might even like it :)

Thanks. 👍 I like some Metalcore, but not much Deathcore. But I found that band to be pretty impressive. They have a similar style to the disbanded Winter Solstice. Very cool band as well.

@Rolling Thunder, pretty great names there. 👍

Anyway, I've been discovering some really good bands and really good albums. Didn't knew In This Moment released an album in August. It's preatty impressive and probably one of the best In This Moment albums:

I would love to see her head-banging more, though.

Also, just discovered a girls only metal band today called Kittie. Aside from the obvious gorgeousness , they are pretty good if you ask me.

CARCASS!!!!

My favorite death metal band, bar none. Reek of Putrefaction was decent, Symphonies of Sickness was AWESOME, Necroticism as well, Heartwork was also AWESOME but Swansong doesn't really strike a chord with me. My favorite songs of theirs include Embryonic Necropsy and Devourment, Forensic Clinicism/The Sanguine Article, Arbeit Macht Fleisch, Hepatic Tissue Fermentation II, Inpropagation, Doctrinal Expletives, Exhume to Consume, Swarming Vulgar Mass of Infected Virulency, Incarnated Solvent Abuse, Cadaveric Incubator of Endoparasites... the list goes on!

Listening to this whole album is equivalent to travelling into the future and watch robots take over the world.

@RollingThunder: Nice Taste of Music!

@nickname: In This Moment ist quite cool. But I Liked the first album a lot more. But "The Gun Show" is a goddamn great song.
Kittie is an absolute No - Go - Band for me. But not because of the fact, that their all girls, but more that I don't like the music at all.

For some of you, who like Girls in Metalbands as Vokillist, i got 2 Bands for ya!

The First: IWrestledABearOnce - Mathcore - Band. Very crazy stuff

The Second: Cerebal Bore! One of my favorite Bands! Great Band and Music :D

Best metal bands, never mind, best bands ever in my opinion

1. Iron Maiden
2 =. Judas Priest 👍
2 =. Dream Theater 👍

And that's what i survive on :)

EmptySould, IWrestledaBearOnce is the definition of random, but being pretty epic at the same time. I love them. You may want to replace that video because of the you know what swearing.

Not quite a fan of Cerebral Bore, not a fan of the vocals here. Too low and too pig squeal.

r2nyGT5, Meshuggah's Catch33 is probably one of the best, technical and experimental Meshuggah album to date. I still prefer the latest, ObZen, because it's more mature while still carrying on the technical challenge, but Catch33 is a pretty close 2nd to me.

Oh I first heard of this band when they played with Winds Of Plague and Blind Witness. Sadly though when Kittie played, everyone left to the lobby and waited for the next band to play lol

For those of you that mentioned the all mighty Meshuggah...have you guys heard their single, I ? 21 minutes of " holy mother of god!!" Insane stuff!

Dude I crapped my pants when I heard "I". Long as hell! But its worth it =)

I've always loved Kittie. Saw them live about 9 years ago...they sound awesome. The newer stuff's not so great imo, but they're still a great band. Their older stuff is really raw and raging. Winds of Plaque is sick too. I love pumping The Great Stone War in my jeep...1200 watts of pure metal madness!! Makes my ears bleed, especially with the bass bombs.
As far as obZen...one of my favorite cd's ever. Like Nick said, mature but still very technical. I love the poly-rythms they incorporate. I've always tried to explain to people that they are an acquired taste. Their lyrics are also pretty...interesting. Nothing was also a sick, heavy cd, especially 'Rational Gaze'.

Holy crap man!! I think I just pee'd myself a little! That's exactly the stuff I look for. The last time I heard these guys, they sounded nothing like this! I'll be picking this cd right quick. The guitars actually on "Where Dragons Dwell" sound a lot like what I play on my guitars. You ever listen to Opeth? Same basic idea as these guys. Thanks for posting this!

Cool that you digging them :)

I listen to Opeth from time to time. A little too melancholy for my standarts, but still a great band, who plays great music.

But speaking of Opeth and Mikael Akerfeldt in particular; ever heard of Bloodbath? It's like a Death Metal - Superband, and Mikael was the Vokillist on 3 from 4 Releases of them. On the other was Peter Tägtgren from Hypocrisy.

Here are some songs of them:

And with Peter Tägtgren

I hate this whole "Genre - Thinking".... If you like a band, listen to them, it doesn't matter what genre this is.

no matter what you think, genres still exist and has an effect on what you listen to. To me, its just a name for different styles of music. If I listened to one genre, most likely, I'll be sticking to that genre. What If I want to discover new music that sounds different then the music i already listen to? Or what If i encounter a band that sounds different than the music i listen to, what should I search for to find more music like it?

I understand the downside to 'genres', arguments on which is which. Oh that isn't 'genre x' its more like 'genre y'. I too hate this. This is where you stick to your saying "If you like a band, listen to them, it doesn't matter what genre this is."

I tend to look at genres as a positive thing. Looking at the map of metal shows off how diverse metal actually is.

Sure, that Map is really something great, also that you can hear some examples of these Sub - Genres.

Also I agree with you, that genres do exist and have an effect, but I don't like them.
It's better for me to say: I Like At The Gates, Suffocation and As I Lay Dying.
Because then people know, what bands I like and most likely which genres.

'cause if you say: You like Melodic Death Metal, Brutal Death Metal and Metalcore, People think that I like the whole genre, and that leads to misconceptions, because I would never say, that I like this or that genre, because there are enough bad bands.

And in the worst case: If you say you like Black Metal; People also think (the educated ones most likely) of NSBM, so Radical Right - Wing Black Metal; or Nazi - Metal if you wanna call it like that.
And believe me, that's not good :D
Especially for a german citizen such as myself.

EmptySoul-good stuff there dude. One of favorite drummers is Tim Yeung from Divine Heresy....his blast beats are off the hook! Every time I play one of their cd's in my jeep I get my own back massage. I also love Gene Hoglan of SYL/Fear Factory and Raymond Herrera of Fear Factory. Good stuff.

Too much metalcore going on here...

Need more honest to goodness Metal here.

And probably my favorite Metal song of all time...

So much epic. It pains me to see such amazing musicians and song writers in the Metal genre get forgotten.

EDIT: I put the wrong Saint Vitus song up xD The right one is up.

Dude, just because a musician isn't mentioned, doesn't mean that they've been forgotten.
I don't mean to sound like a douche but, the groups that you posted...not really honest to goodness metal, sorry. With that I could say the same thing,"it pains me to see what people think of as honest to goodness metal". And if you really want to use a label, those groups have actually been dropped into the "doom metal" sub-genre. If you want "real honest to goodness metal", you need to go back a few more years to groups like: Exodus, Carcass, Anthrax, Slayer, Overkill, Pantera, Anvil, Megadeth and on and on. I know you'll probably disagree with me, that's cool, makes for a good discussion. I'm not trying to dump on your choices, but this is the exact reason I don't like labeling all the various metals out there with people. People get all riled up and defensive when someone questions another's choice of a label. When people ask me what I listen to, I just tell 'em "metal"...mainly because no one's ever heard of 99% of what I listen to.

They've been around since the 70's and helped paved the wave that Iommi and crew started.

Says the guy that is spewing crap names like Black Dahlia Murder, Carnifex, Emmure and KSE. Those are an abomination of a genre. If you don't think Doom is metal then I pity the thought of a self titled metal head that doesn't like Sabbath.

With that I could say the same thing,"it pains me to see what people think of as honest to goodness metal". And if you really want to use a label, those groups have actually been dropped into the "doom metal" sub-genre.

I know this.. I've been posting in this thread for a few years and there is no sub-genre of metal that you will ever teach me about.

You mean look ahead? All these bands came after. You obviously know nothing about what I listen to (look in my last.fm) Exodus is my favorite band of the 80's and I nominated Overkill for the voting of HoF which sadly dropped to "Take up a new profession" because everyone here thinks Metallica and all the crap they spewed is the end all be all of metal. Thanks social media!

I can agree with this. But I do have a breaking point. Grindcore is not and will not every be metal in my eyes. There is a few bands that I like but for the most part I think its just trying to hard.

No, Overkill got Take Up a New Profession cause Overkill sucks. Theres a reason they didn't sell millions of albums.

And why do you declare yourself the end all be all of Metal heads on the site but you listen to Machine Head?
