The Metal ThreadMusic

If it makes you feel terrible, which I don't know how it could happen. I would guess you were only into a couple bands that were probably border line hard rock or something. Most people listen to metal because no other genre were able to provide the energy, atmosphere and instrument sophistication that most normal every day rock bands don't provide.

A lot of people get into because it provides a scapegoat out of societies normality. You wanted that either because you hated the norm or you were looked at as weird, a freak etc.. so you embraced it and put up the horns in one hand and your middle finger in the other. Some people grow out of it and move on, but a lot of people such as me discover how effective the music is; and it becomes a drug that you need your daily fix.

At that point you discovered how Metal and can cope with every emotion imaginably possible, and that is why a lot of us don't listen to much else outside of metal because we simply don't need anything else because this is our perfect cure. Anger, happiness, melancholy, aggressive, submissive, dominant.. Everything.

@Silverzone: Converge is a good band, I reckon, but not quite my cup of tea inside the mathmetal genre. Sometimes it can become repetitive and tiresome to me.

@Thatman: Five Finger Death Punch and In this Moment are really cool bands to chill out a little. First In this Moment album is great and I used listen to it allot.

As of lately, I've been listening to allot of technical/mathmetal bands:

(masterpiece)

(epic)

(most random band ever, they're Danger in the Manger music video is the definition of random).

I know them, but not to well to say I am a fan. They are cool, they remind me of an Italian band called Sisthema, which I can say I am a fan. :D
Also, within the mathmetal genre be sure to check out [old] Ion Dissonance (Breathing is Irrelevant is a mind blowing album), Delinger Escape Plan, Into the Moat...

Yeah, Converge and Coalesce brought me into that genre. I went and saw their tour earlier this year together on a whim. The bill was this:

Converge
Coalesce
Gaza
Black Breath

It was a great show to say the least. Thanks for the reccomendations! I will be sure to check them out!

Trivium FTW!!!!

That's pretty much all i listen to is Trivium.Sure i like other Metal Bands, but the energy and lyrics these guys produce is top notch.

I remember when their first album came out and hardly anyone knew about them.I would be at home jamming out and people would come over and say who are you listening to?I would say Trivium, then they were like "who". lol

I got a lot of people into Trivium, maybe 20 people and they still listen to them today.

They are my favorite band of all time and i've been listening to metal for nearly 21 years now.

I'm putting together a playlist of workout metal songs. They have to have a steady beat, almost like a march. Below are a couple of songs that I have so far. If anybody can suggest similar sounds, that would be great.

Amon Amarth - Victorious March
Amon Amarth - Death In Fire

Nile - Wind of Horus
Nile - Annihilation of the Wicked

Krisiun - Refuse/Resist (it's a Sepultura cover)
Krisiun - Contradictions of Decay
Krisiun - Combustion Inferno ...ok, I guess that's like the whole Southern Storm album.

Invasion - Bazooka Kill
Invasion - Devil's Garden (Journey Through)

Totenmond - Der Misanthrop

Thanks in advance for any help, guys.

Just had a cathartic moment with Nile.

Came home after the chem lab final and basically had to get out all of my rage for this stupid ass of a professor that nearly ruined my lab grade. I'm the only one in the class with data that is correct and he called my lab reports weak because I didn't fill my data section with regurgitated procedure. God, I hate this guy. I think I have a concussion now. Might become a contusion if I don't get an A.

I like most all hard rock and metal....from Black Sabbath to Behemoth, from Metallica to Moonspell, and from Rush to Rammstein. But none of that new screaming emo or whining BS. My favorite is probably thrash metal, like Anthrax, Overkill, Testament, Megadeth, Slayer and Metallica. My favorite bands of all time are Iron Maiden and Megadeth. Rust in Peace is probably my favorite album of time. I've seen Iron Maiden with Dream Theater, Megadeth twice with Exodus and Testament the first time and Anthrax and Slayer the second time. Also saw Skid Row, Quiet Riot and my "guilty pleasure," Styx:guilty: The best thing about metal is that its following is a community, it gets commerically marginalized and the music is timeless. It doesn't lose its fans after six months like pop. \mm/ Up the Irons! \mm/

I like things from 80's, if it's unknown to most people, even better

V8 from Argentina is my deal right now. Latin America's first ever Heavy Metal band with kickass music

Well Im pretty open to listen to any kind of metal. Regardless whatever it is.
Right now listening to some old-school Cryptopsy :). All hail lord worm.

Metallica and Pantera count? Iron Maiden?

I am also really into Emmure and Chelsea Grin...

I believe so dude. Classic Metal ftw
Not much into Emmure, except there Goodbye To The Gallows is a great album, but Chelsea Grin is amazing. Stage dived so much when I saw them at Thrash n Burn Tour :)

Anyone see Metallica on the "World Magnetic Tour"?
Lucky enough to see them twice, The first time through Aus and the very last show of the tour in Melbourne.
Epic show, especially the last one, played for 2.5 hours but only the one track of Death Magnetic which I thought was strange but anyway.

Cheers

alot of heavy metal fans here so i thought you guys might like this:

Deflagration is a new band

also any progressive metal fans? (meshuggah, vildhjarta, Periphery, Tesseract?)

Any Maiden fans attending the Aberdeen tour date next year? I got my ticket and I cannot wait. A little high school graduation present for myself.

I'm a big fan of Skelotonwitch and Nocturnal Breed. I also have a question, Avenged Sevenfold is my favorite band, are they classified as metal?

I would consider them metal, more specifically, Melodic Metalcore.

I saw their tour list, they are not going to stop by anywhere near me. Do I really have to travel to Florida to see them? I live in NY

I would LOVE to go to a Chelsea Grin gig :P It must be insane!

Where I live, the majority of the radio stations play heavy metal and classic rock, so I get my share of good music. A good metal band I've been listening is a band called Sidilarsen, I think they're French. Also, I listen to a lot of Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Van Halen and other great bands.
