I'm still planning on hosting some practice sessions tonight. I'm not sure if our steward/broadcaster will be able to make it but hopefully he can jump in to get a feel for what we'll be doing. If he is able to make it I'd like to do a short dry run of knockout qualifying so we can make sure everything works out properly. It's not going to be anything complicated, but I want to make sure there's no surprises.
I'd also like to practice the manual grid line up. We will release everyone from the pits in the order we're supposed to start, all drivers will go through the first turn (Ste Devote) and park on the Beau Rivage uphill straight in the order they were released. The first driver released should pull to the top of the hill and park just before the Massenet turn, the other drivers will park in order behind him. Once everyone has parked we will start the race, if we stay parked in that order it should start us in that order. See attached image for clarification.
I'd also like to do a 10 lap race with both the F2007's and the F10's together so we can see how they fare against each other. They are very different machines but on this narrow and twisty track they seem to be very level with each other. I want to make sure they are as level as they seem though, there's a chance we might have to add a weight or power penalty to one of them to make sure they are on an even playing field. I think 10 laps should be enough to find that out, hopefully we can have 3 or 4 of each car on the track for good comparisons.
Who all is going to be up for some testing tonight? I should be able to have a room open by 5 or 6 pm EDT and will be available until about 9 pm so just let me know who thinks they might be able to show up so I can plan accordingly. Once we get these small tests completed I will update the OP with all the final details for the event. 👍
