Planning to make it.

Also will be on phone today arranging the steward/video broadcaster.

Hoping he makes it too

If you get ahold of him have him PM or email me so we can work out the details. Or text is fine too if he can't get to internet before this evening. I'd like to have him run through the broadcasting bit at least once before the actual event so he can figure out what he needs. Awesome that he's willing to do this for us though, I love the idea of GTP members being able to tune in to our race events! 👍

I'm still planning on hosting some practice sessions tonight. I'm not sure if our steward/broadcaster will be able to make it but hopefully he can jump in to get a feel for what we'll be doing. If he is able to make it I'd like to do a short dry run of knockout qualifying so we can make sure everything works out properly. It's not going to be anything complicated, but I want to make sure there's no surprises.

I'd also like to practice the manual grid line up. We will release everyone from the pits in the order we're supposed to start, all drivers will go through the first turn (Ste Devote) and park on the Beau Rivage uphill straight in the order they were released. The first driver released should pull to the top of the hill and park just before the Massenet turn, the other drivers will park in order behind him. Once everyone has parked we will start the race, if we stay parked in that order it should start us in that order. See attached image for clarification.

I'd also like to do a 10 lap race with both the F2007's and the F10's together so we can see how they fare against each other. They are very different machines but on this narrow and twisty track they seem to be very level with each other. I want to make sure they are as level as they seem though, there's a chance we might have to add a weight or power penalty to one of them to make sure they are on an even playing field. I think 10 laps should be enough to find that out, hopefully we can have 3 or 4 of each car on the track for good comparisons.

Who all is going to be up for some testing tonight? I should be able to have a room open by 5 or 6 pm EDT and will be available until about 9 pm so just let me know who thinks they might be able to show up so I can plan accordingly. Once we get these small tests completed I will update the OP with all the final details for the event. 👍

Brandon

if you open it 5 pm i will probarbly try to join but it is quit late in the evening (12:00 am) so i will not be there for long btw i have some internet issues so not sure if it will work:)

Sorry, I won't even be home from work until after 5, but I should have one open by 6pm. Sorry that it's so late for you. :(

I might be able to make it but not until later in the evening, depending on how long you keep the room open for.

I plan to be on Monaco for a bit. Gotta do a league at 8pm then be back on Moncao most likely.

I can have the room open till 8 or 9pm EDT, Owens can take over after that if there are still people around or more people are going to show up. I'll probably have all of my testing done before 8pm so Owens can make it to his league race, but there will still be open practice. 👍

I have a Monaco room open for practice and testing. Since we're gonna be doing some testing I'm gonna host it in my private lounge for now so I don't have to boot people. When we do actual racing we can switch to an open room if enough people want to.

See you on track!

Be right there. We ran out for pizza.

Well, we didn't have much of a turnout last night for testing so we're going to try again tonight if possible. Our broadcaster should be able to make it tonight so that's good, and I want to test the line up procedure as well as do a short 10 lap race. If anybody's going to be available tonight after 6pm EDT let us know.

Brandon

Got WSGTC at 4pm then free after. Would like to drive a cup of Joe later.

Got a bit of practice in last night with the T500 and F1's.

Capp Cup is running tonight, qualifying starts at 10pm EDT if you're wanting to get in on it. Deep Forest-Reverse, 18 laps. Mule is hosting tonight, but I'm going to try to make it if I can. Would like to do some Monaco testing/practice before that though.

Sorry to hear that akmuq. You're more than welcome to attend any tuning sessions or practice races in the next couple weeks if you want. Or hopefully you can make it to our next event.

We haven't decided on what the next event is, but the next big real world racing event after our Monaco race is the Daytona 400 around the 4th of July, so that may very well be the next ASRA race. We just did an oval before Monaco though, so not sure if we'll quite be ready to do another oval. We'll see. It would be a few weeks after the fact, but we could also do a LeMans race.......maybe 2.4 hours? Or 4 hours as was mentioned previously (length of 1 drivers stint in the real world) :) I think I would prefer that to Daytona, but I do look forward to running some NASCAR on the high-banks in the near future! :)

How about the 24 laps of Le Mans?
And we can do a classic race too!
That I would make room in my schedule for.

Sorry guys, I'm running a little behind but should have a room open in a little while for testing. Is anybody interested in doing some Monaco practice this evening?

Personnally I think there should be an ASRA general discussion thread to talk about ideas and announce races. And then make the race threads.

Also, I read about the streaming of this in the cappuchino cup thread. One suggestion: Have the onboard of the pole lap itself on YouTube after qualifying. By onboard I mean using the same view that's used on the F1 world stream.(the one that's just above cockpit with a better view of the track)

ok I am available for june 17 and 18 , I will join

my psn is reventon10

and my car is #8 F10 yellow top (felipe massa)

And why is the race being started with Racing Hard's only? Part of F1 is to leave teams to decide on which compound to use for different race strategies wether its for the start or any stop.

I'm assuming the damage is heavy because this is 78 laps and to make strategies very realistic because in real monaco if a driver gets away with a crash its usually a front wing damage which leads to an earlier pitstop for a wing replacement at the same time new tyre's. I don't like the idea of starting with racing hard's only at the start because teams actually use different compounds at racestarts.

The broadcaster can monitor which tires everyone uses, right?
You can say that they have to use so many racing hards, softs, mediums, etc.

Because there's no such thing as tire strategy in GT5 since there's absolutely no difference in wear rate between hard and soft compounds, only grip.

GT5 doesn't give us the explicit option to force drivers to use different compounds. The only way we can do it is by having the host change the restrictions after everybody has entered the track on the other tire. So either everybody starts on Hards and switches to Softs during pit stops or vice versa.

For the average driver there is a handling difference between the 2 compounds around Monaco. It's not a huge difference and for fast drivers it might not be that much of a difference. I figured bing on the Hards for the first stint would kinda shake things up and then everybody would be on the better handling tires for the rest of the race to start closing gaps. But we can switch it if there's a compelling reason. 👍

As for the replay's, that's a great idea but it's probably not possible. He will simply be broadcasting the "watch race" screen and all you can do is switch between different drivers. And it would just be a matter of luck as to whether he happened to be on the right driver when they set the pole time. I plan on having him broadcast the live timing screen during qualifying so viewers can see split times and lap times.

Oh that must suck bigtime because I made a thread about that before because the first few months of GT5 had differences in wear rate but it wasn't really accurate because the soft slicks were wearing like if it was almost supersofts in reality.

Ok, did I miss something or has the drivers list not being updated? did qualifying took place already?

But regardless of the hards I have no problem except for 1 thing

If this event allows Automatic , I'm not interested because there's no such thing as an automatic racing car I mean there's never an automatic F1 car and it won't exist , F1 car's dont even have ABS but anyway

If this event allows automatic I'm not coming.
Uhhh, actually about 5-6 years ago they were using pretty much automatic gearboxes...
But I feel the same way as you about it!

I hate the person who made the wear rate the same , drinking vodka or hardcore dreaming or something , clearly doesn't know what the hell he's doing.

Anyway I would join this event regardless of tyre rules.

I don't use instruments so I still have to practice on calculating my fuel for the 78 laps and how my stop strategies are gonna go.

Hard compounds at the start is a huge thing for me because I don't use instruments I have to find new braking points and I don't use ABS so the hards would probably lock up much more.

I mean I use the F10 first of all with No abs and no instruments and cockpitview and 10 Ffeedback , it's okay to see ABS or roof view or instruments , it makes the driver comfortable but I'm not gonna even consider racing others with automatics

F2007's are already an awful lot easier than PDi karts and I'm not racing against automatic F2007's for 78 laps and I'm sorry f1 automatic is not f1.

If you complain your using pad then too bad because your pad has shifters so learn and your already slower in cote with a pad anyway.

If this event allows automatic I'm not coming.

Call it sequential and there was never automatic but anyways it won't exist.

Stig , please update me with message / reply

Thanks

Don't worry Reventon. Just check the name of the organizers, "Authentic"

That's what they're going for and I sure wouldn't be around if what they were doing wasn't faithful to F1. I'm a huge F1 fan.

Btw, your name seems sort of familiar (even though yes I know it's a Lambo. but I'm talking about your specific handle) do you do any rFactor or GTR league racing?

Cheers

We wouldn't want anybody using an automatic but the game doesn't really give us any way to ban it. There is no option in the menu for "manual trans. only". We can view the stats on the room list and see that everybody is using manual and ask them to change if they aren't. I would imagine most of the people interested in this type of race would be using manual anyway, and for sure the fastest people will be using manual.

I'm not sure I know what you mean? Quaifying doesn't take place for over a week. I'll go back through the thread and make sure I've added everyone, I may have missed a few.

You can save the replay from qualifying and get the individual lap.

Qualifying will be taking place under "Free Run" conditions and you can't save those replays. I think we all know who will most likely be on poll (*cough*wardez*cough*) so we could just be sure to record one of his laps to post as a "lap with the poe sitter". I'm not sure if you can change to the roof cam view during free run though.

*Edit: Registration list has been updated, I had forgotten to add a few people. Registration is still open, the weekly qualifyiers will decide who makes the race.

Oh I tought it was under race conditions, never mind.
Also, retention has already got his name on the triple crown on the Monaco grand prix so he is extremley fast round here. I think he was like a minute or so ahead of second place in a 39 lap race. I can't entirely remember from looking inside that thread to get the Monaco winner.

So, revention vs Wardez.

Edit: Also, me and senninha had an f1 race before in a no-go series and we locked out front row by over a second when we discussed qualifying times with the 3rd place man. He was 4 tenths faster then me.

He didn't get away though because it was Monza and then people disconnected and quit because they tought we were cutting the chicanes.
Remember this was a championship on GTP as well, which highlights how fast senninha is.
