Fastest car from...:

Volvo V70R - 155MPH
v70rmw1.jpg

Fastest Ford:
FPV Pursuit Boss 290 - Top speed 260Km/h 0-100 in 6.5 sec
fpvmx3.jpg

So here's mine:

1. Quickest Ford.

My gangsta Mondeo wasn't quite up to it. But the Focus ST I found for the 5-cyl is my best bet. Top speed: 241 kph (149 mph). 0 to 100 km/h: 6.8 secs.

2. Oldest Toyota.

That thing, whatever it is. I think it's a late-70s Starlet.

I also found this late 50s thing... I was so sure it was a Toyota. I spoke with the owner and told him it was ncie to find someone who takes such good care of an old Toyota, only for him to tell me "It's not a Toyota, man... it's a Daihatsu" (aren't Daihatsu owned by Toyota?)

3. Fastest car not from the USA, Japan, Korea, France, Germany, Italy, Australia the UK or the Czech Republic
(this Volvo had no outside badges, so no idea what it is. Side question, does this Volvo have an I5 engine?

But I also managed to find a Tata!

and about a million Ibizas.

4. 5-cylinder cars
I got three different ones... yay!

Another pic of the previous Focus ST (night pics suck!). A Fiat Coupe and a VW Touareg R5. I don't know if R5 actually refers to the engine, but hey.

Bonus - Audi Q7 (1 point only)

Just updated post 794.

14 five-pot cars
1984 Toyota
Q7 bonus

I actually saw the same Rabbit twice in different parts of the city on different days. Almost posted it, then saw the coinciding number plates!

Sorry I forgot that I was supposed to post some new categories:

1) The Tortoise and the Hare - Fastest car next to the slowest car

2) Junk in the Trunk - The most overloaded station wagon/estate/hatch-back

3) Red Means Speed Mmm-Kay? - The quickest red car (0-60mph/0-100kph)

4) All That Glitters is Gold - The most expensive gold coloured car (Famine's GAP theory applies)

Bonus - E46 M3

e46_m3_front_big.jpg

Question, if I find a M3 CSL, does it count? And is it one point per M3 or one point just for finding a M3?

Fastest next to the slowest in top speed or in 0-60?

An M3 CSL counts and you only get one point no matter how many you find.

The fastest vs slowest will be judged on the top speed and is the difference between the two.

1) I don't think this will come down to a really fast car next to a normal car, I think it'll be a really slow car next to an average car. I've scoped out the slow one, just need to wait for something somewhat new to park next to it.

2) ?? Don't know if I will see this in a downtown scenario.

3) All the F-cars are packed away for the winter, so I am not expecting anything decent in this category.

4) As above, the expensive stuff is already gone. I did miss photographing a nice Jaguar XJ yesterday that could've been moderately competitive in this class.

Bonus - E46 M3
101-7.jpg

I'm currently not capable of being online long enough to review the entries to score them...

I shall ask daan to do the totting up for me and update post 1 with the new info.

1. Quickest Ford.
bennyrrr's GT just manages to see off the Focususes and the FPV truck

2. Oldest Toyota.
gashlycrumb's 1979 corrolla was looking good for the win but Diego's 1978 Starlet just sneaks it

3. Fastest car not from the USA, Japan, Korea, France, Germany, Italy, Australia the UK or the Czech Republic.
bennyrrr gets another point with his 155mph S60R.

gashly's V70R seems to have an AWD badge on it and that means it "only" does 152mph.

4. 5-cylinder cars - 1 mark per car, most marks gets the point.
exigeracer found 12 of 'em and gets the point

Bonus - Audi Q7 (1 point only)
chaser_fan
M5
exigeracer

Points
bennyrrr - 2 points
exigeracer - 2 points
Diego - 1 point
M5power - 1 point
chaser_fan - 1 point

And we have a draw. What happens now? 2 categories each?

Either one says the other can go or we have a bit of a problem. My guess would be whoever has the most amount of points on the overall leader board should make the following rounds categories.

I prefer 2 categories each, if any. Of course, benyrrr can't submit for his own categories... make sense?

After thinking it over, I can see how having 2 folk pick would cause problems, so I'm going to make an executive decision and give bennyrrr the "win" and therfore the opportunity to pick next weeks categories.

I gave it to bennyrrr due to his higher placing in the overall points table

Sorry, exigeracer. At least this gives you more chance to spot some cars.

I guess I should post catagories for next week? Possibly? Anyway, here they are.

1)Quickest 4-door Audi. I love R8s and 90 Coupes, but the sedans and wagons really turn me on. 0-60.

2)Quickest 911. Porsches iconic sports car has undergone many changes, but I want the fastest. 0-60 MPH.

3)Most fuel effcient GAS car as in PETROL. Notice I said gas, no hybrid, diesel, LPG, Natural Gas Hydrogen, electric, nuclear. Just the most fuel effcient gas car.

4)BUSTED! Get a picture of a car pulled over by a cop, one mark, doesnt matter if its a Ferrari or Kia, each pic of a car and the cop car gets one mark. Most marks wins.

5)Green means GO! Or slow. Slowest green car 0-60.

BONUS! Lotus Elise. 1 point. Only one no matter how many u photograph. Lotus Exige, 2 points, no matter how many you photograph

Gold Car Entry. BMW 530i. Original MSRP $41,100
GOld.jpg

Tortoise and the Hare. Lambo Gallardo and Toyota Sienna 196 MPH-110MPH=86MPH difference
lambo.jpg

We only need 4 categories and the bonus. You've got 5.

Also, can we please make sure that your cameras know the correct date and that the images you post contains that information (posting a thumbnail with a link to the complete, unedited picture is the easiest way). bennyrrr, Gashlycrumb & chaser_fan's images do not contain a date and therefore provide no proof they were taken during that week.

3)Most fuel effcient GAS car. Notice I said gas, no hybrid, diesel, Hydrogen, electric, nuclear. Just the most fuel effcient gas car.

I don't remember seeing natural gas powered cars.

I've been so busy with work this week and cars haven't been kind to me. Last week I could have demolished this week's categories, but I'm having to leave it to the last day this week, and I only have the afternoon off. Tension mounts! I'm liking next week's categories too.

gashly's V70R seems to have an AWD badge on it and that means it "only" does 152mph.

I got the top speed for it from:

Thetruthaboutcars.com
Extensive autobahn testing indicates that the V70R’s claimed zero to 60mph time is accurate (providing it’s cold enough for the turbo). The stated 155mph top speed is both attainable and effortless. And there’s no question: the V70R in Advanced mode will give the significantly shorter Audi S4 Avant a decent run for the money through all but the bandiest bends.

and

Yeah. Only problem is, you're looking at the wrong V70R. You've posted the (very rare) 1998-2000 model, whose engine was a 2.3-liter turbocharged 5-cylinder (236hp '98; 247hp '99; 261hp '00) and whose top speed was actually 141mph, not 155mph. From Swedespeed:

1998 European V70R AWD Automatic
- Engine: B5234T6
- Displacement: 2319 cc
- Output: 240 DIN HP at 6000 RPM
- Max Torque: 310 Nm (229 lb/ft) at 2400 RPM
- Performance/sec 0-62 mph: 8,1
- Top speed: 225 km/h = 141 mph

The manual's top speed was 153 (still short of 155, mind you) but North America only got the automatic '98-'00 V70R. So daan was right to not give you the point, but he had the reason wrong (all-wheel drive has nothing to do with it; as stated, all V70Rs have all-wheel drive); had you posted the current model V70R, you would've earned the point.

The site I used, www.parkers.co.uk, made the distinction between an all wheel drive and another version, presumably FF. The AWD version was listed at 152mph, the other version at 155mph. Another site I checked (can't remember which one) confirmed the 152mph.
