Um, what? Since when?

Oops, misread some search results without actually going through them. I had to check, Echo hybrid didn't sounds right to me either.

I thought all Canadian Smarts were diesels and they are, so I haven't been snapping them. Turns out the 08s are petrol cars, which I saw one of yesterday, but failed to photograph. Damn.

Haha! I'm sympathetic. Last week I saw the peak cars of half of this week's categories almost together. Tomorrow I bet I don't see either.

At least in Melbourne if I walk out my door and don't look both ways I'll be hit by an R32. Do R31s count as dual taillights even though they're in the one thingy?

Yes, they're acceptable.

Quick note - I've now returned from my hollibobs, but intend for the Scavenger Hunt thread to take a wee Chrimbo break. I would thus like to extend chaser_fan's categories for THREE weeks - from the 21st December through to a deadline on 4th January - allowing us all to get out and spot and enjoy Christmas/New Year festivities.

I have completed my Rainbow :)

I'll swap my Cooper S for this S5 as it is worth a bit more :) NZ$137,900

I'll swap my XR6 for this E Series HSV Clubsport R8 - NZ$77,990

Slowest Car with Four Taillights:

2)Quickest 911. Chaserfan

3)Most fuel effcient GAS car as in PETROL. Chaser and Gashly

4)Green means GO! Diego and Gashly, Axiam is slow, nissan is slow.

Chaser 5
Roo 1
Gashly 3
Diego 1
Exigeracer 1

Winners
1)Quickest 4-door Audi. Gashlycrumb and exigeracer tied with 4.6 secs. +1 each

Don't mean to be a party pooper, but I think the official 0-60 time for the RS4 is 4.7 sec which is why I was so annoyed that the one RS6 (4.6 sec) that I'd seen in recent weeks decided to show up the day before these categories came into play. If you're giving Gashlycrumb's RS4 a point can I have one for mine too...:scared:

BEST POWER TO WEIGHT

XC90 V8 = $49,300

scavenger_orange-123007.jpg

Cooper S convertible = $25,400

The Mini, which is purple, may look blue, but that's a combination of the snow on it and my camera. I took photos of several purple cars all of which came out blue, thanks to the camera. It really is a very nice shade of deep purple.

Total value = $274,800 (2,146,000 Hong Kong Dollars)

What's the best site people use for car figures? Power, weight, acceleration, top speed, etc?

I need a decent site to work out my power-to-weight winner.

I just Google.

If I'm looking for weight I'd look up 'Audi A4 2.8 Quattro curb weight lbs'. If I was looking for power, 'Audi A4 2.8 Quattro bhp'. Acceleration, 'Audi A4 2.8 Quattro 0-60 sec'. Top speed, 'Audi A4 2.8 Quattro top speed mph'. Always comes up right there on the Google page.

Getting a place in line. Pics later.

Is that drop top Porsche gray? Or is this just my lame ass colour blindness failing again?

Category 4 – Excessive Eighties – Fastest 80’s Road Car

I'm going to take a punt on this, just in case:

DSC_00011.jpg

Ferrari 348, introduced in 1989; however, I've no idea what year that particular car is. 171mph. Feel free to tell me to get lost if it's a bit dubious.

OK, thanks.

I thought I was on a bit of a winner this week, but alas. :( I forgot that value counted on the rainbow, and I thought it was quickest 80s car rather than fastest.

Oh well, I still have a hope on one or two categories I think.

Oh, haha! I thought that was the rule but for some reason it slipped my mind. I'll get me coat...

Rue

I wish it wasn't the rule.

Then I'd make categories like 'most Audi A4s parked at a fraternity house', 'most cars with Colorado license plates,' and 'most Audi A4s parked at a fraternity house with Colorado license plates.'

I think that's why they made the rule. :D

OK, I'm going to post my two potential entries before I forget.

As stated earlier, I competed in all categories, but my failure to comprehend all the rules means I was easily trumped.

Anyway:

Do 4 rear lights really mean ‘super’?

Nissan Skyline R32 GTS - Top speed 112mph

No matter how hard I searched for a GTE I couldn't find one. :banghead:

Cigarette Paper Challenge - Closest Parked Proximity

closeparkinggx9.jpg

This was taken at about 2am on the way home from NYE celebrations. I was going to walk onto that side of the road and get closer shots, but about 10secs after I took this one the owner came out of the house and drove away. :ouch: I've cranked up the contrast and brightness so you can see there is gap in there. :)

I hate to say it, but because that car has painted side skirts, it is most likely a 348 GTS, which went 1993-1994, rather than a 348 TS, which went 1989-1992. Differences:

348gts-082307.jpg

348 GTS

348ts-081807.jpg

348 TS

Now with that said, painting the side skirts was a common modification for 348 TS owners, and your guy painted his roof panel, so he was into modifying... so it very well could be a 1989. But it is unlikely.

Ha! I didn't even notice that was a GTS until you pointed out the paint job, Doug. If I had a 348 or 355 GTS I would definately do the same mod. Actually, the 348 is growing on me all the time. Apparantly quite the driver's car too.

Reviews about the 348 are never consistent - some love it, some hate it. The general rule is, as a first Ferrari it's a great car, but coming from another model it often leaves something to be desired. It's nowhere near as much raw fun as the 308 and 328 it replaced, and it's not the all-rounder like the 355 which replaced it. But, those who don't know any better (a group which includes me!) love it. :D
