Acura may be seen as a Luxury arm (albeit cheap, I think), but the NSX name would tell any motor sport enthusiast that the car would be coming from a very reputable source, despite its price. The same could be said with Nissan and its GT-R (Nissan is associated with cheap cars, but the GT-R namesake changes this.)
And anyway, even budget/low-end car makers can go a little crazy sometimes, and vice versa.
(VW had the W12 Nardo Concept, which contradicts the fact that they are budget cars, and Aston Martin had the awful Cygnet, which contradicts the fact that they are large, opulent grand tourers.
