That was some of the best racing we've had so far, great stuff guys. Both races were pretty much battle royale's between several drivers right to the wire. And from my point of view everything was as clean as you could hope for in such close quarters.

(Editor's note: @KingKlingeling won the second race by a nose despite what the results show)

Sorry for bailing, it was the last matinee of Guardians of the Galaxy and it was my last chance to see it again before it left town.

I'd love to use these cars again, ;) but I think we're doing FFs next? At any rate we've been testing them.

Yes, we're going to do modern street FF's on SH/SM at Autumn Ring Forward. The target is 1:29 and 112mph/180kph. Targets were set in a stock Premium Integra (04 I think?). At the suggestion of @Sjaak we're going to flip-flop the schedule and have the cycle start on Sunday and end on Tuesday, this way we have five days to get the next car(s) prepped instead of two. So since this was kind of short notice on the next cars we'll just do a practice session this Tuesday and start the race cycle on Sunday. 👍

realy great racing
my buddy called me after the races and told me It looked like watching TV :D
I never thougt 3 cars side by side are working in T1 :scared:
I definatly have to watch those replays and such a 3-wide-powerslide-exit-T1 picture has to be my new avatar

is there such a sheet with the available FF's already available ?
otherwise whats the oldest year for modern ? edit: I just went a page back , '89 or newer ,got it :D
I'll try to set up a car for my friend as well , do a lot of instructor laps and decide if it's already worth to let him out of the pits :D

I enjoyed the racing last night, was lots of fun, hopefully I didn't hold to many people up:)

Car was good too drive, though I just had stock suspension, which seemed okay:)

@KingKlingeling...

Ask and ye shall receive!

Short on time so I hope this screen dump will do?

Thanks Hobbsy. I don't think the Civic Touring Car is a street car though. :P

Good to see you on track again John. I try to keep my cars as stock as possible, so far I've basically only added power/removed weight. I try not to mess with the suspension or transmission so they still retain some of their character (just personal preference, you guys can add all the parts you want).

I've updated the OP with the current targets and car selection. We will begin the racing on Sunday this week so we can move to a Sunday/Tuesday schedule (which will allow more prep time between car groups) but I will hold a practice/testing session tomorrow at the normal time.

Very good list of cars hobbsy very helpful. My week is going to be busy so I'm not sure how much tuning I will be able to do and I'm also not sure how long it will take for me to tune a car to the specs especially considering the fact that I haven't hit my peak with the wheel. I know I can be faster with it and the more I practice, the faster I get which means I have to keep detuning the car :ill:

No worries. We will be at Autumn Ring which should be a very familiar track, hopefully that will help some. If you grab one of the cars towards the top of the PP range it shouldn't take much work to get one dialed in. And you don't have to be perfect, as long as you're consistently within a few tenths of the target without going over then you should be good. I'm generally only within 3-4 tenths most of the time, that's close enough to stay with the draft which keeps me in the mix. 👍

It's not the modifying really its the fact that I'm going to get better and then end up having to detune which is annoying

Great combo 👍,love the car-track combination.
Racing with cars close to stock power is really what I like.
With the last car selection and this weeks I must have bought more then 20 cars.
For now a Volvo,Ford Focus, couple of Mini´s and Peugeot´s are in my favourites

A European Tuesday practice Evening would be nice,I try to be online tomorrow or join if someone opens a room.:)

Gotta break a few eggs to make an omelette. :sly:

That's what my comment about Autumn Ring was aimed at, hoping that since it's a familiar track it will be easier to be consistent on it. Either way, you're welcome to join even if you're not quite spot on the targets (as long as you're not going under them).

I set the targets in a stock car and try to keep all other cars as close to stock as possible, I do have to throw some power/weight reduction parts on most of them but usually nothing too drastic. This is just a personal thing though, I like driving stock cars and I'm rubbish at tuning so it suits me.

Actually to be honest if I'm having a good stint, my consistency is actually better with the wheel. I think this is because its much easier to feel what I'm doing with the wheel and repeat the same actions lap after lap. Muscle memory you know. It's harder to feel what I did to make it through a lap with ds3. My consistency is still not where I would like it but I'm usually a few tenths around my average lap times. Whereas the controller times can be a good second or two different each lap. My control over the vehicle especially loose cars is not nearly as good as it was with the controller though. Yes I know that will come with time.

So, we finally get the Quick Match feature and supposedly SRF is forced on and boost is on............so it's pretty much completely useless. This company...............

EDIT: Has anyone with a wheel tried driving on the update yet? Many reports that the FFB has been borked for Logitech/Fanatec wheels. Sounds awesome.

I just hope they have not messed up the force feedback and wheel sensation with the latest update!

Quick match I can live without, unless they invent a filter to prevent me being matched with a bunch of morons who's method of negotiating corners is by bouncing of the car in front

Private lobbies is where you will find me(mostly)!

It appears that they have, but I think your wheel actually got better. It's the Logitech's and Fanatec's that got the limp-wrist treatment.

My G27 felt just fine last night on my first runs around Sierra. New track is fun, some substantial yumps but nothing near as dumb as Cape Ring.

The reviews are mixed, most say the strength is weaker but the fidelity is much better and you can feel things you couldn't feel before. But some say it's so weak they thought their wheel was unplugged. I personally like a strong feedback but I could sacrifice some strength if I can finally feel bumps and grooves and tire slippage and such. I plan on giving it a good going-through this evening. I am wondering if this will effect the cars enough that some of the FF's I have dialed in for Autumn Ring might need some tweaking.

Haven't run any FFs yet (apart from the 500 in the Sierra event, and I think that was SRF forced on? So it doesn't count.) Some have been saying that the new FFB really improves the feel when driving FF cars. I'm hoping so, because my number one beef with FF cars is that they tell me almost nothing about what they're doing on turn-in and corner entry. If they feel better, I might actually show up for the next two weeks. :D The combination of a drivetrain I despise and a track I can't stand in an FF wasn't filling me with happy thoughts. ;)

Edit: also I've been running my wheel on lighter settings every since I learned about clipping, so it's not as much a change for me as for some. 👍

Further edit: FFs do feel much better, I can get a substantially more solid idea on what the front is doing as regards grip. A little practice session has confirmed for me, however, that FFs at AR continue to be more a chore for me than anything and deliver absolutely zero pleasure. See you all at the next track, I'm sitting this round out.

I hope I have some surprises waiting for me then.

I spent most of last night honing two FF's for the ring (offline), so am planning to be online tonight testing them out further.

Hope to catch some of you then... If your not too busy adding gauges or driving round some fancy new circuit ;)

FFs are a chore to me at all tracks, but I figured if we just raced rwd's all the time people would complain. Gotta mix it up every now and then. I don't plan on using them often, but I wanted to give them a proper shake down. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, and I'd race tank cars at GT Arena if it meant I got to be on track with this fine group. 👍

Oh, and I crack myself up.

Oh god are you kidding me! I'm trying to learn the wheel and yet they change it! Ugh maybe it is better but I might as well be starting from scratch with the wheel. I honestly don't like the light feel. I like when the wheel is tight and harder to turn. Although on the bright side if you actually can feel more things it would feel more like driving which I've gotten used to and comfortable with at this point. So mixed feelings that make me want to do this :banghead: or this :). I'm excited to try out the track for sure but I probably won't be able to play at all today with all the annoying school work I have :grumpy:. But the worst thing of all, srf forced on?!! 🤬 What the hell?! Does anyone know if this is a bug? Because I sure hope it is

Oh and @BrandonW77 I could just imagine tank cars at GT arena   . That's just hilarious. I'd actually be down to doing it if everyone had a tank car. I have one

I believe this just applies to the quick match races, except the "professional" one where SRF is not on. But I believe all of them have boost on, which is rather dumb and basically ruins it for me.

@BrandonW77 the real question is, would you race them at Fuji? :sly:

In all seriousness, there has to be at least some modicum of fun to make it worth doing. If there was even one corner at AR I liked, it might be different. But I stand by my assessment the other day, for me the track is akin to the Hungaroring with all the fun bits removed. It's unbearable to drive on even with cars I enjoy! :D

I'll spend the time evaluating race cars for future parity categories instead.

Oh, and I crack myself up.
