Been a while since I've seen any videos for this sim, much has changed since last time and I love what I see 👍 Only niggle for me is I'm not really a fan of the upshift judder (for lack of a better term) that is present in the cars. They just don't sound right to me in the road cars and apart from the Formula A car and maybe some of the older cars (The Capri being my favorite), it sounds off on much of the racing cars.

Even tho others pointed out its limited, this is how it looks while driving :P

Watching this video, i'm wondering about the sounds of PCARS. This P1 sound from inside the cockpit is a tad digitized (not as bad as GT, but going into that direction), whereas the real car sounds a lot throatier:

Sounds haven't been discussed much as i recall, and as they are important towards the immersion i wonder how people that own PCARS right now compare them to other sims?

Wow that dump valve is insane! lol
(on the real video that is)

I've been wondering if this is because the players aren't lifting the throttle when they shift. Some games don't cut the throttle automatically, or the throttle cut ends before the clutch is fully re-engaged, causing the RPM to jump like that.

I can only speak for self, but I would say the sounds are not great, but good. A slight lack of throatiness almost across the board is my biggest gripe actually. The P1 is one of the worst offenders though, other cars are much better in that regard. In general, there are some cars that do sound great and some that do sound less than great. But all of them are several worlds beyond GT.

Imho RRRE is the undisputed king of sounds, then pcars, AC and Forza are all on a somewhat similar level.

You forgot the master of sounds on your list..Where is GT6? :D

I think the sounds are pretty good for most of the cars. Sounds are a big factor for a lot of people, with sounds à la GT5/6, the racing just doesn't feel right IMO

Hi
My Top 5 list of the best sounds of the Project Cars

greeting

I've noticed on this and several other videos, the dirt lying off the racing line. Does it affect the car's handling and grip if you would drive through this for overtaking or whatever other reason?

pCars sounds aren't all that exciting (even accurate in some cases). But they are ok when you put them against its competitors.

The BMW Z4, Aston Martin Vantage V12, Sauber Mercedes C9 and the Ford Capri thingy are the only ones that I find really convincing. The RWD P30 sounds awesome as well.

In regards to the sounds, I'm a bit concerned with some of the cars. Eg, the megane and a45 share the same sample, as do the sls and gumpert. Then there's a whole bunch of 4 cylinder cars that are currently using the exact same sample:

Other cars that use this are the caterhams, Mitsubishi evo and the junior ginetta. The sample is actually in the crew as well

Also the radical sr3s sounds like a 3 or 6 cylinder, and the gt40 is using a flatplane sample.

I've always presumed that these cars are using temporary samples and will be replaced, but it's really close to release date and they aren't getting updated, and I am concerned now. SMS Please update them.

We are just poking in fog too. Since we have no roadmap on anything we can only hope that certain things (samples, shifting sounds) will receive an update anytime soon. My best guess is that they are already working full steam on DLC cars and will only fix neck breaker bugs up until release.

That said, im overall pretty happy with the sounds (more than 120 different samples/sounds per car) and YT videos don't do them justice.
