When I was about 17-18, before I left Cali, I drove up the coast to Santa Cruz. I was actually on my way to see some friends in Felton.
I parked to look in the window of a car dealer at a then new De Lorean. As I was driving a 1962 Thunderbird at the time the dealer was very nice to me. Pulled me and my friend into the showroom and I got to sit in the DeLorean.
He really wanted me to trade that 'Bird in on the DeLorean.
Young and dumb? Perhaps. But I wasn't stupid!!

I also was blessed enough to have my very sneaky mother rent an interesting car for me to go to my senior prom.
After I spent the day detailing her Mercedes 280 sedan, I went to the prom in a chauffered 1965 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow.

clk-gtrs dont cost 1.2 mil....they cost a lot more.....

At production, they costed 1,547,000$. That was then, this is now. If the Roadsters DID cost 2.4, then it would be the biggest waste of money ever. Ever.

More info on the CLKGTR roadster. It wasn't even produced out of Mercedes OR AMG, but HWA, who is responsable for making the original coupes, and a lot of AMG's success in racing.

Of the 5 GTR Roadsters made, only one was avaliable to the public, and is on sale for a mere 1.5 million euros. Far from the 2.4 you quoted. The same place where it is being sold has other CLK GTRs including the one that won the 98 FIA season.

I got to see plenty of rare cars today - at a sports-car meeting ;-) Some of the cars I saw there was:
- Koenigsegg CCR (!)
- Lagonda Vintage Racer (!!)
- Lotus R340
- Ford GT40 Mk. II, right-hand steering (!!!!)
- Bentley Blower (!!!!!)
- Bentley Continental (could be any but the new GT)
- Lancia Stratos
- Morgans - four of them early three-wheeled models
- Plenty of Porsches
- Lamborghini Espada, Diablo and Countach
- Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale
- Shelby and AC Cobras
- De Tomaso Pantera and Pantera GTS
- Shelby GT350H
- Plenty of others

Wish I'd brought a camera :-( (well, I did, but the resoulution on my phone is crappy to say the least - if NSK, who arranged the meeting, upload some pictures on the net, I'll provide you with a link).
