OK, I hear you.

I think the game re-sets all quali after a certain amount of time which is why we are getting seemingly random grids, so lets do a track change at 20h15 gmt to re-set quali.

Many were wondering about the silence from Polyphony Digital about any new sizable updates to Gran Turismo 5, especially in the light of the incoming release of major competitor Forza Motorsport 4.

Some thought that something big was brewing behind the scenes, and those were probably right. Today Kazunori Yamauchi himself announced over Twitter that the Gran Turismo 5 Spec 2.0 update is coming.

GT fans, thanks for waiting… The GT5 Spec 2.0 update is coming the 3rd week of October, with DLC following a week later.”

No info have been given about what the Spec 2 update will entail, or what the DLCs will be, but every time the “Spec” term has been used in the Gran Turismo series, it always meant something big.

It could be a Merry Christmas for Gran Turismo fans, after all.

Oh golly!

There I was thinking that I would spend all my time playing F1 2011 for the next few months, but it now appears that the disk slot in my PS3 will be getting loads of 'traffic' as the GT5 disk keeps swapping with the F1 disk.

The Forza 4 trailers look good but I aint gonna be swapping the PS3 ;)

3rd week of October, but which year? 2012 haha ha? An upgrade will be nice though cause we seriously need one..... yawn. I dig the F1.... wow what a challenge, gotta be on your super A game just and feature. Great game!! But there will always be time for Gt5. I hope they get some Australian V8s going, that would be cool, and some new tracks, and improving the quali on the old ones. What does DLC stand for? Du

Im so happy about this!!! Cant wait.

Further evidence that this will be coming is that yesterday I was in Musica and found that the price for GT5 has dropped to R299.99!!! Its the same as with CNA and Look&Listen. Major drop in price so it can only mean one thing. The DLC is coming. Was the same with other games where the game prices dropped and a few weeks later, the DLC was released.

Forza is a good game but Im sorry it really isn't on par to GT mainly because of its physics. Also alot of the tracks looks like you are driving through the desert. Even on Nordeschliefe (On GT5 you drive though lush green forests and on Forza you drive through what looks like the Karoo) I have been playing Forza 3 alot and while it looks brilliant, the physics is just disappointing. It just feels alien and almost Arcady,

Hope Forza 4 is better but I don't see myself swapping GT5

Ah thank you Ally!! Cool! More real race tracks please.

Pleasure Canu,

Think they will be adding alot of old GT tracks like Apricot Hill, Twin Rings, Midfield (MY ALL TIME FAVOURITE!!) and Seattle. Not sure of the list but Im just hoping and praying that all the older tracks makes a comeback...

Jeez..... I don't remember any of those tracks. But I must admit I've ways been an F1 fan and I've only now started playing GT because I'm online. The only car I ever used to race on the older GTs was the RGT cause I love Porche! I'm hoping they incorporate some of the F1 tracks as well, and a different tire wear system. Actually I have a list the size of my .... of the things they could improve!

I was getting really frustrated with F1 2011. Not because of the game but because I chose to start my career with Virgin who don't have KERS...

That means that on the exit to corners the car in front of me uses KERS to pull a big gap on me and then I can't even use DRS.

So I was effectively doing a whole season with no DRS and no KERS and the AI cars were just DRSing my a55 on the straights so I stood no chance (unless I dropped the AI difficulty level - which just aint gonna happen!).

So I set each race to be only 3 laps long and rushed through the rest of the season where I accepted a contract offer from Sauber (who I am really hoping have KERS).

Now the fun is really going to begin :)

Haha ha....... I started the championship last night but chose Williams. I just did the first practice, doing laps on prime tires getting used to using the kers and Drs...... it's slot to think about on a lap! Then I slapped on a set of option tires to see what kind of lap I could belt out. I only managed 17th position. Lol. This is going to be quite a challenge!!!! Yes please!

One thing I really like is the build up of 'marbles' over the corse of the weekend. By the last quarter of any race, the marbles are so bad, you put 1 wheel off the normal racing line and you are screwed! LOL.

Unfortunatley they still haven't fixed the problem where the Ai cars are way slow in the first few corners. That is the only major thing that I can think of that still needs to be fixed. But, there is a work around. If you do quali on Prime tyres you WILL be way down the grid and after the 1st few corners you will make up a few positions and land up in a realistic track position.

With regard to DRS, you have to get your gearing right. Set up too long and and you have no acceleration so you will get dropped soon and have no chance. Gear too short and DRS is useless as you hit the rev limited on the straight. You have to get it just right.

The new Indian GP track (New Dehli) is average and I definitely don't see it becoming a classic.

Over all I can honestly say that, this is the 1st F1 game I have been this excited about. Usually I find loads of problems within the 1st few hours of getting it and then those problems haunt me for the rest of the games 'life'.

Well, I have only started this online racing with GT5 since the first series (Calsonic Cup) thank to Homes telling me all about it.

I don't think I will be getting the F1 game too soon, I want to enjoy the GT5 more.

I am already thinking of the next championship.

Sorry guys but I'm running out of stamina, can't probably keep going in the series. Please make the next one at least start at 7pm BST, and then it's possible for us children further to the east to be able to come...

LOL, bad stamina my ass... :D

Totally brought the car around the track as if I had taken adrenaline pills. Forgeddabout the last post, I'm gonna keep going now that the season really started

...But please someone already explain the sounds of a window being wiped mid-race o_O

Guys...thanks for a great race.

I have to say, big respect to Canu and Scale, before the pit stops, we were running so close, all three of us, it was so clean, a few bumps but absolutely fair.

If you guys have the replay, check it out, brilliant. Just a pity the stops separated us.

👍

Hey Guys....... wow what a great first half to the race! Great driving Scale and Driver101, awesome skill, wasn't worried about getting knocked off at all. Really tight but so clean, thanks!! Quali was tight 2, only got it by 0.004 over Driver. Now this is one serious tight championship!!!! Nice to c u up at the front again Carbon, Honda rules!!!!

Thanks for a really good race. That track is great for close racing. qsilver, will and I had a great battle too. 👍

Just a pity about the pitstops.

The top of the championship is so tight now. :)

Talking of the next series:
Now that GT5 'Spec II' is coming out, I think we should wait and see what features it will have. Maybe we can race on new tracks with new cars etc... Cant wait to find out what is in store.
