Hey Homes, Will is on leave, so I will probably be myself tonight, no worries though.

@ 101, I have an awsome little package that I can email you. It allows you to set up your PS3 as a proxy and the do all Dl's from your PC / Laptop. These updates run way faster than through PSN plus you have the added benefit of a restart. The package is Called PS3Prox Here is a basic overview.
PS3 Prox is an application that allows you to update your PS3 firmware aswell as update games via your PC.

You can also Install Playstation Store online games and demos via your PC.

Why use PS3 Prox:
1.) Once you have downloaded a Patch/Demo/Firmware, you have this file on your PC,
which will allow you to use this at a later stage, if for instance your PS3 crashes and get
a new one, you won't need to download these Patches/Demo's/Firmware again.
2.) Downloading via PC is usually quicker.
3.) If the download fails at any stage on the PS3, you have to start from scratch again,
downloading on your PC allows you to use a download manager, which even allows
you to pause the downloads.

Details of the new ballast system and race start proceedure have been added to the 1st page of this thread.

It is vital that you read and understand this before round 2 starts.

I just got a 1'45.3 at Grand Valley... good or bad?

By the way, that ballast thing is one damn good system. Just gotta make sure that every driver visits GTP to find out about this...

Carbon 1:45 is excellent. wish I was home practicing! You are gonna kick my butt with times like that

Homes you realy need to take action.
This is the 1st time that I complaint about bumping but I was bumped in every race up to now. You can check the last corner of the second lap. I even went of the racing line as I saw him being faster than me to try and avoid bumping.

As I can see we are trying to keep it real.

My question is: Isnt a disconnection like a machanical breakdown in real live? Never seen someone getting a calculated posistion for not finishing a race for any reason what so ever!

If you referring to my disconnection, I seriously don't mind not scoring any points, if it means keeping the peace, I am cool with it.

I was just happy I was running a good pace upfront getting involved in some awesome racing. I was on pole and tried my best to keep the field at a good formation pace behind. It was a great race for me, loved it, cant wait for the next.

👍

By the way, came to mind that a picture of the standings should be taken at every race so that if someone gets a time penalty, it would be super easy to spot where they drop in the official results.

Gonna be creepy at Trial Mountain... Word and Driver with regular weight and me in the 2nd heaviest car of the grid... Gotta get some good weekend practice to ensure a chance to keep up. Grand Valley was already difficult enough with equal cars.

hi gt fans, yes the race was good, i know i can complain a bit when i feel i was bumped, but i watched the replay and that indicated that there were no real prove of being bumped at the time, it just felt like i was bumped, but it turns out to be a touch at the wrong moment going into turn 1 on lap 5. so my apologies to scale and driver..

go flat out or go home

No worries from my side bronzo, I will always try my best to race clean, I am not a fan of balls to the wall driving, rather to race close and clean.

I must say though, this online racing can be weird at times. You will be close to the guy ahead and you know you are not close enough to touch or hit him, but then you will see his car get out of shape as if you have hit him, but from your side you didn't, strange.

Anyway...bring on the next one.

Here are the PROVISIONAL results form round 1.

There are still a few outstanding issues regarding penalties which I will look into, so these may change slightly.

Those drivers who told me they did not compete because they were still downloading the update get joint 12th position, so there is 1 point left unclaimed.

As you can see driverone0one still got third place when I averaged his lap times because he was disconnected.

Regarding the disconnection issue
... I think we have to use the system of assigning points because it 'levels out the playing field'. Some drivers in Europe and USA have really good internet connections and never seem to get disconnected while some drivers, particularly in SA seem to regularly get disconnected and the logical assumption is that it is because the internet connections in SA are generally slower and of poor quality. I feel it is important to try to equal out everyones opportunity and remove the discrimination caused by country or internet connection. I hope it improves as more updates get released.

Prize PP and bonus points - Watch this space for details of the prize PP and bonus points that will be made available for the next round.

Remember, the top 5 drivers get a 'ballast' (PP reduction) for next round as follows:

1 Scalebreaker -7pp
2 Carbonox -5pp
3 driverone0one -3pp
4 agentarenas -2pp
5 bronzosback -1pp

Disconnection:
No problem with trying and help someone to get points even after disconnection but its not that easy.

Some drivers are very fast but have to make 2 pitstops because of there setup. Other drivers are slow but can manage to make only 1 pitstop.

If someone gets disconnected on lap 5 , what do you do then? Was he on a `1 or 2 stopper? What whould be his lap times when he had no tyres left. Was he going to make a mistake if he was running the whole event?

There must be some kind of penalty for being disconnected to make up for all these things that could went wrong if he was running the whole race?

qsilver - Yes I agree that pitstop strategy does make a difference to someones average lap times, so where it is not clear from the replay, I do assume that the driver is on a high pitstop strategy and give the benefit of doubt to the drivers who do not get disconnected. It is difficult though because there are also things like when a driver is in the slipstream of a faster driver for a few (or many) laps, they are getting an advantage that makes their lap times faster than they would be without the slipstream. It is not an exact science but I try to keep everyone as happy as I can, except when they are driving like morons and constantly bashing into others.

bronzo - I am pretty sure that 1 or 2 of the guys who entered are not going to appear. I havent heard anything from JAYVEE, so if you can get your hands on a Denso Lexus, you can take his place and become team-mates with agentarenas. 👍

hey wordup,

cool i will be there,

any chance of me being in a NSX, as i have practiced many hours in this car, ARTA, i see no one is using the EPSON NSX either, so maybe i can use that?

regards
teuns

As a note, don't think europlayers are any 'safe' from DC's... I, for example, had a power cut midway through a GT5 session last evening.

Bronzo - I notice agent used an illegal car in round 1 ('01 NSX) so I will ask him if he can swap to the Epson NSX '06, then both of you team-mates use the same car...

hi worduphomes,

thank you for understanding, i will get an EPSON NSX for the race and start to practise with it tonight, sure it will be same as epson.

regards
bronzosback

Hope you are all familiar with the start proceedure for tonight???

Regarding penalties: Scalebreaker was found to have jumped a position before the 1st corner at round 1 (from 6th to 5th), so he has been given a 5 point penalty and is driving under caution tonight. The penalty would have been harsher, but in light of the fact that there was quite a bit of confusion on that formation lap, with the new drivers who didn't understand, I have been lenient.
This still means he is in the lead of the championship (by 1 point).

Regarding prize pp and bonus points - I have decided to use this weeks 'advantages' to try to redress the balance for those guys who could not finish the updates in time last week. Razzor and Petrolhead therefore get a 7pp advantage and the driver who finishes ahead out of those 2 gets 10 bonus points. Generous - yes, but I hope it at least lets them make up for missing the 1st round a little. Next weeks ballast and bonus advantages will be aimed at everyone, so keep a look out for details here.

Important:

I bought a headset to talk to you all before the race to try to control the start proceedure, but my mic is not that loud (even though it is set to max), so please go to options and change the level of your background music to very low, so that you can hear me speak properly when in the lounge. 👍

Doesn't really seem fair that drivers who simply missed the 1st round would instantly get a PP boost... it almost feels that everyone should have an equal chance for the title, when really it's the skill that should matter.

Dont worry carbon, it wont effect you guys near the top of the table im sure :)

As I said, next week there will be something for everyone. A little challenge shall we say :)

Waitwaitwaitwait. Precious question! Seeing as Trial Mountain's first corners are not exactly... well, tight, where can we pass when the race begins? Yeah, we probably get the explanation anyway in the race lobby, but I want it now :sly:

Good question carbon. It will be the 2nd corner. Or to be more precise, the sharp(ish) left-hand corner before the tunnel.

What a race.

Well done to Bronzo, you were seriously fast.

Homes - just a suggestion, I heard you say that you wont be able to make the next round, why don't we have a week break in the series next week and continue the following Thursday. After all you are the one organizing this.

I am ok with that

Well done to my freind bronzo and driver.

Wish I could be closer but I was 6th on quali and went out of the room. Homes then took a foto and give me 11th. When the race started I was 6th and had to wait for people to pass me to go back to 11th but they were afraid to do so. The slower I drove for them to pass me the bigger the gap was to the front.
When I passed the 1st sector the leaders was something like 13 sec gone if I remember right.

But it was great fun trying to catch up.

BAIE LEKKER RACE!!!!!!!

Sorry qsilver73, at the time I thought everyone was so close to starting the race, I just didn't want to annoy the majority by causing further delay.

Don't worry about me missing next week. willfred_1 knows how to control the room and save the race etc.

Just make sure you all send a friend request to him. He will be in charge for round 3.
