Don't worry about me missing next week. willfred_1 knows how to control the room and save the race etc.

Just make sure you all send a friend request to him. He will be in charge for round 3.

Looks like you're gonna be in trouble with the championship early on...

You dudes went hysterical when I told my age btw

Help

I am trying to decide what position to give to Allykh...

If you watch the following video, you can see he goes into the pits on lap 28 and then disconnects more or less at the moment bronzo wins the race, so I suppose he should get the position he was in at the time but....

The problem is that the race order list on the right of my screen is not correct and only starts to correct itself at the moment each car crosses the finish line. From what I can tell Ally was in 6th position when he went into the pits but how many cars would have passed him between the time bronzo won and when I finished (last)???

Sorry for the poor quality.

Hey guys, thanks for a great race last night. Well don to "Bonzo" as Canu calls him. Good race chom. Homes, I overtook Ally on the track before he DC'd. I think that I finished 5th, but then again I am not sure who was in front of me that DC'd. I was always around 5th to 7th.

sorry qsilver73, at the time i thought everyone was so close to starting the race, i just didn't want to annoy the majority by causing further delay.

no prob homes. I knew that i wont catch bronzo but it was fun working all my way up to 3rd. Thats new excl scale

Think Ally gets ninth, if you say he goes into the pits in 6th, you can see two cars pass him while stationary, then just before he disconnects, you see a third car come to pass and I dont think he would of got in front of that car exiting the pits.

hi race fans,

thank you for a great race, pity about the lag some guys were experiencing.

my pit strategy worked well for this track, pit lap 9 and 18. my best lap was a 1.17.8 but most laps were around 1.18.9

I had a look at what happened to Ally, it seems that he has a major problem with front tyre wear, so needed to pit on lap 28 as he was doing 1.34 lap times, he lost about 3/4 positions on that lap (lap 28) before pitting, so only homes were behind still, so not sure if homes would have caught him (2 close to call) , so to me it seems like he got 10th.

Ally you should really check out your suspension settings, maybe to much camber or toe, but on replay it looks bad, no tyres left in front after just a few laps. tell your engineers to sort it out...lol

had a drive around cape ring, hmmm it is going to be difficult. seems very technical, a with lots of places to lose it, specially on the circle touching the inside,

ok enough chit chat from me ;-)

looking forward to our next meeting with me on a 583 pp :-(

enjoy!!
Regards
Bronzosback aka "Bronzo The Rednose Pitbull"

Oh yeah, what are the standings? It really does seem likely that Bronzo takes the lead, but it's so confusing with scale's DC and all that...

i see that Ally went to pit but his pit crew would not work on the car as it was the last lap, so he had to finish the last lap with no tyres, so i think homes could have caught him. i still think DC is worth a penalty like a drive thru (20-30 seconds), surely you can not go flat out get into 1st and DC. and ending up being 1st because of your average lap times.

OK, here are the Provisional results:

Unfortunately for Ally, this one is almost impossible to solve so we have to give the benefit of the doubt to the drivers who actually crossed the finish line.

Regarding the disconnection averaging system - Yes bronzo you are absolutely right! The more laps you do the better for you. Poor willfred and petrolhead got disconnected right at the start so they get joint last position because of a lack of data. Obviously, if you fly out the blocks into the lead and pump in say 3 super fast laps and then get disconnected, you will never come first. You would probably land up somewhere towards the back of the results table (depending on all the factors). Once you complete more than about 75% of the race you are pretty safe, unless the guys behind you suddenly start doing faster laps towards the end of the race. Then obviously you would slip back a bit. It is difficult to police though. I spend hours watching the replay sometimes to figure out lap times etc and you cant rewind or fast forward the replay, so it can be torture lol.

mmmmm..... didn't notice Quiksilver pass me anywhere. Thought I came in second and by slotting Scale into first puts me in third.

Its all good though..only 2 points dif.

Mr Homes.
Why are you trying to control the starting grid. After a quali everybody can go of the track for ballast control and once everybody are back on track and the race is started you will be placed in your respected position according to the lap times that was done in the free run period

The game only recognizes the latest free run session as the quali, instead of the official one where no extra ballast is used.

I think the start procedure worked perfectly. Just make sure when qualifying you don't leave the lounge before the end because you wont show up on the start order when homes takes a pic.

I tested it with me and bronzo on the track and it worked

Hey Homes,

I did not go into the pits(by myself). I was disconnected soon after I got passed by Zuat. Think that was lap 27.

Bronzo told me that he saw me racing until lap 28 and then going into the pits which I found strange.... I'm not sure what to make of this because just before that I was running 5th and Zuat passed me...I know I was running 6th when I got DC. Maybe because of the DC the car went into the mode where when u press pause in online racing the car races around on its own. That is the only explanation I can give.

Look if it makes things any easier, give me which ever points you think it was worth. Im not too fussy.

Cheers

At the point I take the photo, and everyone leaves the track, you would expect GT5 to remember the exact grid, but I think that various people had to chanage positions on the grid during the formation lap, so I think something strange does happen. At least, if I control it then racers cannot moan that they were chucked to the back of teh grid by the game. Manual control is the best way to guarantee that everyone gets the position they earned at 20h20.

Over the next few races we can monitor where drivers are placed on teh grid and if nobody has to change position during the formation lap then we can drop the manual grid control... But lets see what happens.

For what did Razzor get bonus points back at Trial Mountain?

Seriously, is it so difficult to answer? I need to know the reason for my 'advanced points table' which I'll publish when all the doubts are gone.

homes for finding ally position time how long it takes to do a complete pit stop judging at you tube its about 33-35 secounds
then look at for people who are close to or within the pit stop time frame and remember that if it wasn't last lap any 1 outside that pit stop time window by 1 or two seconds would have beaten him in to the first corner.
what im trying to say is any 1 within 37 seconds of ally would have overtaken him by the first corner
and do i get bonus pp next race

Carbon - Sorry, Razzor gets those bonus points because I offered him and Petrolhead a challenge. Whover wins out of the 2 of them gets the bonus points.

He and Petrolhead missed round 1 because they have slow connections and were still downloading the update while we were racing. So I tried to compensate a little for the 'discrimination' that those with dodgy internet connections faced (and reported the problem). Not totally, but just a little at least.

Everyone will at some point, get a challenge to earn bonus points and usually they will not be as high in value.

When penalties are switched on and U take a line that is not fair but U do the fastes lap, your name will be on top in tha free run but when the race is started you will be places on your best lap U did without any mistakes.
That is why some people will not get pole after being the fastest in free run because that lap was penalised

Yes this is so.

Myself and Canu have noticed this, you can smash out a fast lap bouncing curbs and taking more chances to get your times down, but when the grid is formed I am sure it takes your best legal lap. That is why I think the grid has changed with the last series so many times.

However, I still believe that when you exit the track and rejoin it cancels out your previous time. I mean you can jump into a different slower car and do the test, your time will still be there from the faster car, but it will only take the latest on track time.

Thats why we have to from the grid on the formation lap.

Seems like the points table is cut from the middle, I reduced the font and will publish the better made table after Cape.

Absolutely right both of you. So what this means is that if we use the current way then the people who cut corners (cheat) will be at the front of the grid.
If we revert to GT5's normal grid order, then, when everyone comes out of the track and pits for ballast control and goes back to the track the grid will be recreated based on who gets the furthest or sets the best lap while everyone else is still in ballast control (ie - the championship leaders).

To try to prevent that we could make a rule that says 'no practicing once you get back to the pits', BUT...

Then GT5 will probably create its grid based on one of the following:
- The order everyone entered the pits
- The order everyone entered the lounge
- Alphabetical order
- Something I havent thought of

So, catch22.

Should we just say, the grid is the reverse of the championship standings???

Will be a fun few first laps....
