The Rolex Sports Car Series, Season 3! Finished! Thanks Everyone!

Getting on in a little bit. Will be in my lounge practicing for ALMS and Rolex. Gonna be on till about 9. Then I have to watch the Duke vs Kentucky game.

Before the 2.09 update I had no problem with setup the car, after that the car doesn't do nothing when I change the heigh, weight, suspension..., the tire wear is the same whatever I do!
Someone has the same problem that I have?

Ride height doesn't affect handling anymore it appears. It still plays a part in whether your car bottoms out or not, but it doesn't make the car rotate in the corner any better like it used to. I've found that brake bias is the best way to level out tire wear in the time I've spent testing since the update.

Hmm...You may be right on your brake bias. I always set my brakes on preference. In my case its always 6/4 sometimes 7/5. And now that I think about my fronts do tend to wear out faster than the rear.

To be completely honest, I haven't seen a difference in the handling characteristics.

As for brake bias affecting tyre wear, it was the case before the update too, so.....

This is very frustrating for me because when I raced ìn the real life, I changed a little thing and the attitude of the car changed... (height, weight, toe, brake bias, downforce, pressure tire and others), each little thing affect to the behavior of the car. In GT5 nothing works! ( -10 )

I am talking about the DP setup, I don't know the GT but, the DP has to be more sensitive to the changes!!

I know what you're talking about. Usually just the slightest adjustment can make a world of difference in real life. I know this because I've hung out in the Rolex Sports Car Series garages at the Rolex 24 for the past 10 years now. I've eavesdropped on many a conversation between crew chief and driver.

It depends on track/car for me. I tend to run slightly more brake in the rear to help corner entry because I usually run more negative front toe.

It's not a big difference for FR drivetrains. I have used brake bias to level out tire wear since the 2.07 update a while back.

Sorry i couldnt make it last saturday. Had a family emergency to attend to. I will be here this saturday though :)

No worries buddy. The season is still young, and we have a magical drop round :)

Ant, I never see you online to practice. Which scares me even more on how fast you are.

He practices 30 minutes before the race. I used to just hang out in his lounge and do some last-minute testing and then he'd drop by until the lobby opened.

Regrettably I don't have time because I work all day and, when I arrive to my home I am tired. Maybe, today I make some practice because if I don´t practice i won´t can win and I need the victory because this season will be difficult for me compete all races!!

No way! You've always been a loyal participant. I want to see you on the track every week, so we can have our intense battles like we had last year. This year, we drop our worst result of the season to help out people who just miss a round or two.

He's still racing, he just doesn't have a ton of time to practice.

I'm in the low 03's. But ghs is always faster than me in qualy. So it wouldnt surprise me if he went in the twos. And then there's the draft.

But I think the numbers I threw out were more of an average on how the field will do.

I had a question about the run off area. How strict are you going to be on people going off track? I myself do not plan on taking advantage of it.

You are allowed to use the Green part everywhere BUT the last chicane. At turn four you can use a bit of run off, but hopefully no one will abuse it too much.

If a bit of run off means at most two wheels on or within the white line, then I'm ok with that.

I know Paul mentioned last seaso that the guys falling behind were using run-off at 2 and 4 like nothing he's ever seen before.

You need a damn good reason for putting all four wheels on Turn 2's run-off, and going over that white line at Turn 4 takes a bit of doing, even when you're pushing the car....

If anyone oversteps too many times or stupidly loads, I will push for drive-through penalties if we have caution periods.

I believe thats why we have stewards this season. I hope that race pace is about 2:04, the best that I can get is high 2:03s.

Just let Polar or I know if someone is abusing the runoff areas. We are the GT stewards this year. I save all the Rolex race replays just in case. It will be hard to penalize someone during the race.

Yeah, it is difficult to clamp down on stuff when everyone is racing. As I said, I'll probably push for drive-through's during a caution period if I see someone excessively using the run-offs, oppan mitchmann-style!

Of course, that's for the GT stewards to discuss, but given we may not have a caution (fingers crossed) and the act of directly calling out a driver for it can raise tension, it might be best to leave it to watching replays and giving penalties afterwards.

I've been thinking of that, and I've had numerous ways of penalising pop into my head. Like, if someone has been found to be doing something wrong in the previous race, a penalty could carry onto the start of the next race in some way.

For example, say if someone:
- excessively corner cuts/uses run-off area as a means of racing. (S2; Nurburg, Fuji.)
- causes a racing incident that goes beyond the justification of starting from the back when racing resumes after a caution. (S2; Monza, SSR5)
- causes a racing incident very late in the race, where a caution either cannot be implimented due to being too late, causes too much confusion, or the caution causes the race to be red flagged. (S2; SSR5, Suzuka)
- causes an incident that is blatently intentional, careless, etc. (S2; Daytona, Sarthe, Fuji.)

....then the following penalties could be carried on to the next race:
- Grid-Place Penalty.
- Starting a Race from the pits.
- Points Deduction.
- Race Suspension.

Note: The second penalty is like a drive-through penalty on the green lap at the start of a race. Also, these penalties could be dished out individually or stacked, depending on how harshly a person offends, or how often said person offends over the season.

Going on GT5 soon for some practice, will post the room number when I'm on incase anyone fancies joining me.

Edit: Closed

If you or anyone else for that matter thinks there's corner cutting/excessive runoff room using then just PM polar and I after the race. No need to blow up the race lobby after the race.
