Recently, the Toyota Prius received a 20th Anniversary Model featuring red paint and black wheels

But rewind the clock by a decade and there was a 10th Anniversary model. Visual tweaks included BBS-style sports alloys and even a factory fitted bodykit... On a Prius!

With 12 victories from 1985 to 2007, Mitsubishi Pajero is the car that has won the Dakar Rally the most times.

The road-legal version of the Pajero Evolution was produced between 1997 and 1999. Approximately 2500 units were produced in order to homologate the type for the Dakar Rally's production-based T2 class. It was equipped with a 3.5-litre 24-valve DOHC V6 6G74 engine with MIVEC and a dual plenum variable intake. This engine produced a claimed 275 bhp at 6500 rpm. The two-door body incorporated large fender flares, two fin-like rear spoilers, a hood scoop, and various other racing-inspired styling elements. Skid plates and mudflaps were included for additional off-road protection. Double wishbone independent suspension was used on the front and the rear used a multi-link independent suspension unique to the Pajero Evolution. 4WD was standard, with front and rear Torsen differentials.

Someone in my area actually owns one of these, I thought it was just a heavily modified C5 until I looked it up. Fairly neat looking car.

Nowadays you'd think they were literally every Monte Carlo ever built, since those and the even lazier JUNIOR NATION limited edition one are the only ones that weren't driven into the ground by 2010.

True. Those are more common than a normal-spec Monte Carlo of that generation.

My neighbor had one of those, a Jr. Edition in his garage. I never saw it up close, but it must have been some brand-new, no miles example because it stayed in his garage and 1 of his C3 Corvettes stayed outside. I wonder if his example is worth anything now-a-days b/c I'm positive he still has it under a cover in his garage.

What they should've done to the 2000-2005 Monte Carlo was put a Northstar under the hood. I'm sorry but 205hp from a full-size "sporty coupe" by the mid-2000s is laughably bad.

Any one of even vague sportiness should have had the L67 in it as standard like the Grand Prix did, but I wouldn't be terribly surprised if the Northstar and especially the 4T80 simply wouldn't fit in the W body.

Could someone let me know what sort of interesting Prius variants there've been? I know there were the 10th and 20th anniversary editions that were posted earlier in this thread, but I was thinking more about the Prius models where TRD or GR had a hand in modding them. The whole idea of an in-house tuned Prius is quite interesting to me.

There's one of these in Plymouth, England parked up inside a car sales pound. I've seen it up close at a car show, IIRC.

For its 20th, 25th, 30th, 35th and 40th anniversaries, they produced special editions of the Mini. There are a couple that I've been quite fond of.

The 1100 Special (for the 20th anniversary)

The only round nosed Mini with the 1100 engine and the first factory car with extended wheel arches. I love the 70s stripes.

The other one I like was the Mini 30.

Much more subtle but it was nice to see the return of the chrome grill. The minilites, body coloured wheel arch extensions, the simple and elegant coachline and the rather fetching colour all contribute to the best looking classic Mini (IMHO). It seemed to inspire the later more up market classic Minis.
