Really enjoyed the racing last night :-)

I only had a bit of practice yesterday for the first time in the little Lotus at the track , so I'm quite happy considering...

First race was going Ok-ish until Rosen crashed up ahead and then reversed into me at the apex of a corner whilst trying to recover. I never really recovered from this crash which cost me time and rhythm. Ade, would you be able to clarify the rules around this please? Obviously, I would expect the person who a has crashed to patiently wait until all racers have gone past before attempting such a recovery on the inside/apex of a bend, instead of blindly reversing into traffic...

The second race was great fun. I really enjoyed those first few laps battling up front and was going quite well (being picked off by the faster drivers but I was holding my own on medium tyres, until I got a wheel on the grass on the tight section and lost the car which put me at or near the rear of the field. I then made progress as others pitted and was rather liking the balance of the car on medium tyres, so I stayed out much longer than I should, but I was enjoying the few battles I had on track and gambled that some might make an extra stop (which nobody did). I also enjoyed chasing down Socal near the end and managing to get back past - that was great fun, good racing!

Ok, thanks again, great racing all!

Jammy I apologize for the crash I caused. The rules are perfectly clear for me. No excuse for my action, but I was really upset for my crash and just reacted. I did a couple of laps, then I pitted and waited out the race. Didn't want to disturb the other drivers by making a message. So in some way I let my place to you Jammy, just like the regulation says. Again, sorry for messing up your race.

It was great racing using this well suited car and track combo. After busy starts to both races it's a shame the grid became fragmented with the odd two car battles going on, enjoyable as always.

Well done to Will for a win and podium, also to Bo and Dudo for their podiums.

Great pics and great racing. Not as much practice as I would have liked but fun all the same!! That track was very interesting. Cudos to Omnius and Ade!! :dopey:

Firstly, awesome pics Gary. Thank you. 👍👍👍

Secondly, regarding Rosens track re-entry. He messaged me last night after the race and explained why this happened. He has apologized on the thread, and knows he should have waited for traffic to pass. He had an unlucky couple of races which forced him into early retirement in both, which was a shame as he had put in so much practice.

We are halfway through Reloaded, and what a race to get us there. After qualifying 8th on the grid, I was really pleased to get 5th place in race 1. I enjoyed some good battles to get there. Race 2 was even better, with tyre strategy's playing a big part. I started on the medium tyre, and new it would be a gamble to pit after 10 laps, not knowing how the softs would fare for 30 laps. Cheviot was quite demanding on the tyres, especially through the Riever Ring. As the lap count got into he 20's, I could see the gap dropping lap by lap, and then the gap got smaller and smaller after lap 30, when those who started on the softs made their tyre change. I then enjoyed a great battle with Fuelmyfire, and finally caught him near the end of the race, with the worn softs still out pacing fresh mediums. Finished 4th to get my biggest haul of points so far.

As stated above, we are halfway through this tournament, and Capt_D has stretched out a 7 point lead over Third_Reign with Goodwolf 5 points behind in 3rd place. But now its time for a change. The 96 Elise will now be parked up to make way for the 111R RM. SC2 Reloaded has begun.

Cheers Rosen, I know in the heat of the moment it's easy to to get annoyed with yourself for errors. I had a moment in the 2nd race where I made a silly mistake and spun out, very frustrating, and puts paid to a decent result. I was just a bit frustrated at the time when I approached the bend & had a crash that could have been avoided.

Ps great pics Gary!

I'll catch gary in the second half! lol maybe, possibly, hopefully! lol
Took a bit of time to get up to speed with the 96, but a lot of help with the suspension in the last race thanks to gary for this. Just got to say, this series has helped me more with car handling and that's thanks to ade for letting me play. Awesome races, week in week out. Hat's off to ade for the championship.

Amazing races and amazing pictures Gary! 👍

Well, pretty dissappointed with my results so far :indiff:. But the racing has been topnotch! :sly:

Bring on Madrid! :mischievous:

PFFFFT. Realized my mistake when I read these at work. :dunce: Geography was never my strong point, so when I typed "GT5 Madrid" into Google, I chose the nicest pic. Pity it wasnt Madrid. Haha. Graphic is now corrected.

Just being picky to keep the standards high 👍👍👍

I had a blast on Sunday. I'm really happy with my podium finish on a track that I never raced on. There wasn't that much action for me, because my pace was slower than Gary's and Will's but faster than the rest. Still I enjoyed the fast flowing track and I was making sure I don't make any mistakes and crash.

Congrats to Gary, Will and Cobani.

Rosen I'd like to say sorry for the pass at the final corner, didn't think there would be any problems with the pass, but forgot about the loss of df when following another car. Wasnt my intention to make you go off.

Ran a few laps in practice mode at "Madrid" last night to get a feel for the SC2 111R again. This car, although running on the same chassis, is a totally different beast to the 96. With 80 extra HP, a Toyota 2ZZ VVTL engine and a 6 speed box, this Elise is much faster, with a lot more torque. Its much more punchy, but this little pocket rocket will bite you back if you over cook it, and when in close racing, the loss of front down force is much more obvious than the previous car. Only ran on the SS tyre, and my best was a 1:26.7xx. (offline practice)

This weekend see's many of us in Turbo Dave's and Goodwolf's events, so practicing for Madrid will start next week. I will run some sessions during the week, as well as the usual race weekend build up.

Off topic, but yesterday I had a visit from GC Gary. I took him to Hethel for the Lotus summer party, where I showed him round the factory. Unfortunately I couldnt organize any laps on the test track for him, but managed to get a pic of him in one of the academy cars.

It was awesome to come over and experience your hospitality. Great online host and just as great in person. It was a priceless experience you've given me and I just hope to someday reciprocate it. 👍👍👍

Nice.. Was good to meet you Gary 👍

It was a shame we didn't spend a bit more time together. Maybe next time 👍 :D

Not much space on madrid lol. Had a few laps tonight with Allan and had a good 30 laps of tinkering with set-up, a little off of the fastest time i got told had been done but with a bit of work , like removing the final chichane! it's a pain lol and practice i'm hoping to be up near the front. catch you all through the week.

I'm not sure I'll make the race at Madrid as I will be watching the Blancpain Endurance Series 1000km Race at the Nürburgring next week.

Edit:

So I went to the IAA today (Frakfurt Car Show) and must say there are some awesome cars coming up. The Subaru WRX concept looks mean, The NSX blows you off your feet in syle.

There also turned out to be a nice little time trial at the BMW stands (BMW DTM racer at Nürb GP). The simulator stinks, its impossible to upset the car. Unfortunately I didn't realize this quick enough and on the two laps I took I only managed top6. Might have to return there for the weekend and better the time, the top runner has about 4 entries in the top 10 and the time is definitely beatable once you get the hang of the sim. First Prize is a BMW driver training at the Nürburgring, should be worth around 600 Euros, second a signed race suit by M.Tomczyk, Third Paddock tickets to the DTM final.

BMW.....Nürburgring.....
It's not tuned to 500pp by any chance?

Good luck Third, let us know how you get on. They had some simulators at the Lotus party at the weekend. One of them was on a police stand, and the simulator was inside a Lotus Europa police car like this one.

europa_zps481bda77.jpg

It was running GT5, in a Elise 111R around London. We had to sit in the car, and the screen was mounted on the front. It didnt have any sound, and it was set to auto transmission. Both Gary and myself had a go, and we both beat the polices fastest time. No prizes though, although the satisfaction of going faster than the old bill, on their own simulator was good enough.

Ran a few laps in my lobby for an hour. Only practiced on the SS tyre to get an idea for the lap count for Sundays races. Fastest time was a 1:25.767, with lots of low 26's. Will run some more laps tomorrow from 8.00pm
