Cobani's Race Report 7
The build up to the Monaco race was great and a PB of 1:38.500 assured my 7th pole of the season.
The race unfortunately wasn't as satisfying as the first part was messy,
but during the race the enjoyment came back and I felt like a fish in the Monaco-harbour.
A good quali is one thing, but the first corner could make or break the race ...
Monaco is 'Go' and all are searching for that little bit of clean track ...
All got through cleanly on the run up the hill ...
Cobani leads Jamesy and Third ...
Goodwolf catches up to the front pack ...
Three wide into the chicane for the first time, dissaster imminent ...
Pre-occupied with Jamesy's unfortune and my possible role in it, I started loosing concentration ...
Third took full advantage, but Cobani was on his (w)heels ...
The pressure was on Third, but with no mistakes, no clean pass was attempted ...
Goodwolf was never far away ...
Another mistake in the making by me, leaving me in third ...
At the front the leaders seemed glued together from my point of view,
smoking and sticking all through the lap.
(I'm sure it was a connection problem, as it looked as dirty as their cars , but we are all gentlemen racers)
Keeping my distance ...
The battered cars of the front runners ...
Cobani navigating the Swimming Pool ...
(really, I'm the orange pixel!)
Pitstops did not change anything, but my mind was clear ...
The classic 'F1-shot' on full pace...
Cobani chasing Goodwolf for second ...
A small kiss with the barrier by Goodwolf ...
Going into Rascasse with full pressure on ...
Goodwolf a little wide, Cobani with the better line ...
Gentlemen-racing at it's finest at the final corners ...
With very few laps left, all eyes are set on the leader Third ...
Flying though Casino ...
With an empty tunnel in front, connection problems prohibited what could have been
a fantastic finish ...
The barriers were never far away ...
The track pointing Cobani in the right direction ...
Whether Cobani was driving in the park ...
Going downtown ...
Or navigating the harbour ...
Taking victory after a very awkward Monaco race is always special ...
Closing comment:
Goodwolf and myself had yet another brilliant battle and a special mention to Jamesy as he fought his way back to second after being last at the first lap. 👍
Thank you for for your time as this was a long read, bring on the final race!
