Best of luck to you both in tomorrows race.
Thanks. I wouldn't be doing it without you guys behind me.

On another note, I saw this the other day and instantly thought of everyone here

As promised, here are the details of the upcoming Sunday Cup Christmas special event. The date is provisionally Saturday 20th, although I can be flexible on this, and do it on Sunday 21st if preferred.

XMAS SPECIAL.PNG

This will be a 3 race event. There will be 15 minutes of qualifying at the first track, Daytona road course. The next races will be decided through reverse grid.

The tyres we will use will be racing hard. There will be no mandatory pitstops during the races. Tyre and fuel wear will be set to normal, and damage will be on heavy, so pit stops may be required.

Daytona road course will be the first race, followed by Indianapolis road, with the final race being decided at Daytona super speedway. Each race will be run over 30 minutes, set using the endurance race timer in the lobby. There will be a 10 minute interval between each race.

Usual Sunday Cup gentlemanly conduct is required at all times.

Sign up is open gents, and please let me know if you can attend, and your preferred date to race.

I have added you to the list above Captain_Roh, hope you can make it.

Thats a shame GC Gary, you will be missed. You can however join us for some practice sessions if you are available. First official practice will be from next Friday and Saturday evening. It would be a good idea, to use these sessions so we can work on set ups for each track, so come race day, it will just be a case of switching to set up A, B or C, as we change the track for each race. Heavy damage will be switched off for practice sessions, so that we can concentrate on getting set ups right.

Also, Cobani has asked about whether we can change cars between each race, so that we retain max power for each track. This would mean everyone having to have 3 97T's. That would be expensive, and some may not have the credits to do this, so we will stick to 1 car for the entire event, and just switch set ups. Just make sure you have all done an engine rebuild before entering the lobby on race day. Post race scrutineering will include odometer checks to ensure all drivers have used 1 car for the event.

Im going to open a lobby from 8.30pm tonight, for some pre practice testing at Daytona road, so feel free to join. Hope to see some of you later.

Ok, so we ran some laps at Daytona last night. These practice sessions are designed so that come race day, the best possible event can happen. We learnt quite a few things last night, and there will be some changes in the regulations. The T97 is an animal, and the hardest car we have ever used in a Sunday Cup event. It eats tyres like doughnuts, so the first regulation change will be tyre and fuel wear. This will now be set to normal for the event, not very fast, as previously stated.

Also, we will probably all need to make a pit stop. At Daytona there are 2 pit exits. We will use the 2nd exit, which you will have to navigate manually. This is the safest pit exit to use, as it doesnt put you out straight onto the turn one corner. ( more info on exiting will be posted before the event )

I will be running another pre practice session on Wednesday. First official practice will be on Friday, and continue over the weekend.

Last night did see most of us struggle with the T97. It is awesomely quick, and very unforgiving. Theewar managing some super laps. My own PB from the evening was a 1:27.1xx.

Lots more practice will be required before we are ready for the off in just under 3 weeks. This weekend we will concentrate on Daytona, then next week we will change our attention to Indianapolis. Hopefully everyone can find a friendly set up for both of these circuits during this time. The week leading up to the event, we will put our attentions to Daytona Super Speedway, so we all have a set up for all 3 venues.

Remember though guys, this event is designed for fun, as a Xmas special. No points are on offer, just bragging rights for this one.

Just to follow up I'll be home around 7:30 on sat 20th at the latest, so I can attend regardless of date. Sunday is preferable but I'm shuffling a few things as we speak to give myself more time on the Saturday. Was hoping the Lotus was a Stock event if I'm honest though :( *sigh* better get on with trying to make a tune lol. No wait, 3!

I will post my setup tonight when I get a chance. It's a good base. Warren got a better one though. :D

Well I planned to get some laps in....

Got my T300 today. If anyone has been following its progress and release you'll know there are a few common faults with the wheel, specifically the pedal box. Trust me to get a faulty one! Tried to fix and diagnose to no avail, so had to strip it back out to put the trusty old dfgt back in.

Managed two clean laps. Second of which was just in the 1:28's. Completely stock except I used the max speed slider so as to not top out on the straights.

What an animal.

Now I've driven it in anger I retract my previous statement, I'm actually GLAD this is a tuner event lol. That beast needs taming!

Thats a great time Shin. Both Bo, and Warrens set ups seemed solid on Sunday, with some very fast times. I will be on tonight from 8.30, for an hour, to do some more pre practice testing. ( It will be only for an hour, as these 5.00 AM get ups are real killers this time of year.:grumpy:, must be showing my age)

Also, Teh_Lotus has been added to the grid, to make a total of 9 at the moment. Should get a few more over the weekend.

The Sunday is good for me, working on the Saturday.

OK, If anyone else would prefer to do this on the Sunday, let me know please. I can do either, it all depends on what is preferable to everyone.

So, first practice is tonight. On Wednesday evening, I tried to work on a safe way to get the car off the grid at Daytona, without spinning on the banked start straight. It doesnt seem we can use a rolling start in GT6, which would have been much safer than a grid start. We can have a go at safe starts this evening, as well as the first timed run short races.

My lobby will be open from 8.30pm.

Also, next Saturday see's the next installment of GC Garys Type R cup sprint race series. There are still some places on the grid available. Check out the link for this event. TYPE R CUP SPRINT RACE EVENT.

What about a parade lap into a rolling start? set the timer to 35 minutes or something? Would be a good photo op for the special and would save the disappointment of potentially spoiling one or more people's fun in the very first race!

Just a thought :)

Cheers for posting up that tune Bo, I'll try to come up with one myself first but I'll compare after. I don't think I'm going to be prepared for this. Not sure how much time I'll have for practice :(

I think that is the way to go Shin. After last night, some of us where better at getting off the line than others, but by the end of the evening, the starts did seems a bit better.

So a parade lap will be run for each race. When the lights go out, drivers will compete one lap in grid order, before a rolling start as we cross the start/finish line. (More details on this after a few practice runs)

Last nights practice was good fun. Only 5 of us, but it gave us a bit more time with the car. I havnt been able to check the replays, as Christmas shopping got in the way today. I can tell you though, that Warren is an Alien. The fastest time witnessed in free run was 1:23.2xx. Will and Capt Gary were also very fast, as was Teh_Lotus. I seemed to end the evening going backwards, by not being able to get anywhere near my previous 1:26.1xx.

I will open the lobby again at 8.30pm tonight. There will be an extra lap added to the shorts races, and we will practice the rolling start procedure.
