Happy happy holydays to everyone! Every other Saturday I'm working, and both sprint race days have fallen on that other Saturday:grumpy: . Hope you guys had fun. I'll try to catch up with you on Wednesday for that mad car practice. Not that I haven't practiced though, so expect nothing less than the usual soka experience on Sunday. I'm also very happy to hear that there is interest in the endurance race calendar for next year. I'd kill to be on the drivers list for some of those races, so Gary and Ade, I'm at your disposal.
See you on track:)

One more thing guys. You have probably seen the GTPlanet news page regarding the GTPlanet endurance series for 2015. I would very much like to enter a team for this. It will be up to you guys to decide who enters each event. Not sure I will be able to manage a team for every race, as there are 2 dates which clash with Sunday Cup 5 races, but I will do my best.

Hi Ade! I would like to join our team. :)

Hi Ade! I would like to join our team. :)

Thats great guys. I have amended the post in the conversation for the team entry to reflect this, as well as adding Will to the list. We now have a team of 5 racers for the 2015 endurance season.

Change of plans! I can't race you on Sunday because we are heading out to our cottage over the weekend and some days before christmas.

I wish you all the luck and fun!

No worries Rosen. You have a great Christmas, and we will see you in the new year.

Lotus 97T test night.

Here it is the Pace lap at IMS

Great start on this one as the Pace cars pulls off into the pit lane.

Turn one was not so good, one or two need to watch their approach speed so as to make sure turn one and two gives time to sort out positions.

Cool video Phil! Can't wait for race night, exciting!

How's the practice been going over the weekend? Any new lap times been registered? I see as Phil pointed out that there's still a slight lack of patience and respect out there. I think Warren made a post about this combo being especially difficult to make a clean pass too. Disappointing to see crashes and the like in turn one up to 3 and 4. Rolling start was supposed to help in this regard. Reverse grids might be messy.

My two cents is this. From where I sit there are some needlessly aggressive drivers out there. Im the kind of driver who applies pressure when I can and waits for a clean opportunity. I feel like others will try to create one, and maybe 10% of the time its at the cost of a crash.

Whoever it is in front of you, they have the right to take their racing line, regardless of whether it's faster or slower than yours. If they turn in to the apex as you make a dive to put your car there, you will come together. If they feel like giving you space that's their decision, not your right.

I notice myself having to leave a cars width at the apex too often because im fully expecting the car behind me to make a reckless move. I don't want a crash so I feel like the responsibility is mine. It should be the other way around.

But this is racing 101. And this is also just a video game. I'm sure come race day things will have calmed down, but it will still be frantic out there in a car that's quite a handful. Let's all just be extra careful to make this Christmas special a success and enjoyable for everyone 👍

:D

As for practice, I feel like I need to revisit Daytona road for a night or two as I didn't have chance to really get comfortable with my car. I'll create a lobby from the club around 7 and I'll keep it open till around 8:30 until the official one opens. If anyone wants to join me feel free :)

I'll try and join you Shin, but thats just about my dinner time would like to pace car that one too.

All good points in your post, if Ade would like to run a normal start we could always pause on the start give Pace Car time to pass off the line.

Other points you bring up, I've been viewing practise from the viewing lounge these car don't seem to suffer with lack of draft. As you say a little more patience at corners would go a long way in helping everyone get max enjoyment, but that's just an outsiders observation. It's a long race so one doesn't need to win it on the first lap.

Glad you liked the video just videoed it off the HD screen, I keep promising to buy myself one of them posh game recorders, but for now the HD pocket camcorder will have to do.

Great video Phillip. Also I share the same sentiments regarding the hasty starts, which im sure come race day will be much more organised and patient. In the lobbys we practiced in, the door was open to strangers to join us, so we could get a feel with a few more cars on track. Im absolutely confident that all in our group will show fine etiquette on the track on Sunday.

I will be on tonight from 8.30, but as usual it wont be for much more than an hour. Only 3 more stupid early get ups, and I will be able to stay out longer.

I thought it was unusual knowing most of the guys for some years, yeah I have to get up 5.45 most days to Angie to work that's early enough for me. Just about done in by 9,30 every night.

Been working on WFN most of the day so real tired now, making plans for new events which some of your guys come and support, nice for both sides. I would like to see some of the GBRC guys joining you for a Casual night or two, all helps to fill grids.

Anyway must go I'm beat.

Great practice at Daytona road. Some fantastic nail biting 3 abreast action through the bus stop. Awesome stuff.

Phillip, your not the only one. Im at at 5.00AM weekdays, so 10pm bed time is late enough for me. If any of the GBRC members wish to join us this Sunday, they are more than welcome.

Also a big welcome to SIG, who ran his first laps with us tonight, and showed some great pace.

It's was just things going through my head as they do Ade, what with all the talk of Project cars on different forums and people migrating.

Love the setup puts my wheeldeskpro to shame.

Thanks, I knew you guys would all be quick so I just want to take my races steady and not tread on any toes. When I start pushing is when I make mistakes. My best at the end of tonight was a 1.25.1, think I could just about get 1.24s with a perfect lap but tonight I have found over half a second already just by watching how the faster guys do it.

I am still a little confused about the rolling start procedure, I get that we go at the big yellow line but do you all go when the lead car reaches it or go only when your car reaches it? Also it is single file not double file right?

Quality setup Ade, ghetto (except for the seat) but I like it! Is that a hard mounted sequential shifter too?! Awesome.

I think we could all do with a bit of clarification on the starts by the way, not just Siggers. I had to brake for a car in front and got passed by two from behind. Theoretically a person could hang back and be at full speed by the start line too, leave everyone for dust who had bunched up or potentially crash into the pack at pace.

Felt like the start mark was too close to turn one at Daytona too. Maybe just me. I think if we all bunched up in the bustop we can go near flat out from there behind the pace car. Phil can get up to 170/180 mph around there comfortably I think. As it stood all 6 cars in the session got to turn one at the same time, 4 wide! Shouldn't be a problem for racers but protection from accidents has become a bit of a fashion in this combo. Maybe it's nessecary, maybe it's not and we should all just man up! :P I think the consensus is clear though, we all just want a fun clean race night to sign off the year and put us all in good spirits to bring in a new one :)

Looking forward to this. Was initially a bit scared of the 97T!

Siggers your in with some of the best guys I've ever come across over the years, they are always willing to help others fit in so don't worry, all about respect.

The Yellow line was part my idea Shin, but I'll fit in and do what ever Ade tells me to do. Sig don't worry to much about the start it's a long race, your going to get lots of opportunities to make up places even from the back, plus the ones that get handed to you cough cough thank you kind sir.

I'm just glad it's you guys battling it out in these things and not me, scare the hell out of me, I can sit in the viewing lounge with a big smile on my face watching, ouch I could see that coming lol.

I agree with your thoughts on the start at Daytona. Cars were too close going into T1, which could cause choas on race day. When we practiced it before, using the bus stop seemed to work well. So I think we should go back to that. That way there is a degree of separation between cars as we hit the main straight. (We will all just have to be super aware of cars braking in front as we head into T1) If the pace car doesnt have the pace, Phillip could peel off to the left and take the car off the track as we hit the straight.

Indy start seems much easier, with Phillip just having to go straight to the right after the final turn.

Also, as we discussed last night, these races will not be won on the first lap. Far from it with heavy damage. Keeping out of trouble, and looking after your tyres will be paramount to getting results at this event. I think that the victors will be the drivers who spend the least amount of time in the pits.

I wont get a chance to get on tonight, as I have a bit of running about to do, but I will be on tomorrow from 8.00pm to 10pm. I would like to practice both the Daytona and Indy starts again.

Weekend practice will take place on both Friday and Saturday evening, and will consist of all 3 venues we will be using on Sunday.

And yes Shin, that is a hard mounted sequential shifter. Probably the second hardest mod I did, next to the steering wheel. Proper old school, with cables running on the shifter on the DFGT.

Ade is this just after the banked section if so will do Sir.

Edit: Ade I don't think we have the grand kids tonight, So I should be able to come and help (practise)

Only it's hard some times when the 4 year old is shouting in my ear catch him gran gran, don't you just love um.

Awesome practice tonight guys, although a bit gutted that I ran out of time to do any Indy practice. Daytona start procedure seems fairly nailed now though, with the green light to go racing coming after the exit of the bus stop chicane. I seemed to find my pace again tonight at Daytona, although still a second off the aliens, I was well pleased with a 24.7xx.

Weekend practice begins tomorrow, and we will get to Indy for some starting procedure practice, as well as a few races with a pit stop.

Please note, there are 2 pit exits at Daytona road. The first brings you out just before turn 1. It will be too dangerous to use this exit. We will therefore use the second pit exit, which requires drivers to navigate out of the lane, and onto the short straight before turn 2.

I will publish a full timetable for Sundays races tomorrow, but just as a heads up, the lobby will open at 8.00pm, with a 9.00pm start time for race 1.

Great to have @spyrrari join us tonight, hopefully he can make the event on Sunday.

Had a good hour with you all last night, great to see Spy.

Looking forward to the Daytona type Pace Car in the oval race, thinking of what Gary said last night and watching some oval practise about the weaving cars. Bringing out the Pace Car when asked by Ade sounds like a good idea.

Was a bit eye popping watching Jordan weaving about in front of Gary, Pace car could help give one a 2 minute rest from this, help bunch the pack if its got to strung out making it just a hot lapping race, just my thoughts.

End of the day it's our masters choice. With busy lives Ade may not of thought of this option.

ps: Gran kids here from today Fri, Sat, Sun so don't know how much time I'll get, or if I'll be in any fit state.

Hey gentlemen.nice to be on track again after weeks of working 7 days a week in the evenings.... :yuck:

I will try everything to make it Sunday, looking positive for now.. :nervous:

Is there a good setup available for this awesome car? as i drove it yesterday it felt totally num and non responsive to my inputs...did PD sort out the camber yet?or is that planned for 2047?...

cheers,

Spy.

On track record Spy I think your not far wrong there.

Just my two cents about the pace car, firstly I don't like the thought of Phil having to sit in thr pits on hold all thr race instead of enjoying watching it as he should. Second, this will definitely be a race of attrition as we've all said before so strategy and focus will play a big part. Seems unfair to artificially close the pack on the race circuits.

Still don't like the idea of Phil sitting in the pits but it was himself that brought up this idea. I think if we did have a need for thr pace car however it would only be at the oval incase of a massive spill or the lead pack catching up to backmarkers.

Starts are much better now though Ade, has been worth the time that's been put in. Personally I've hit a brick wall with my tune and there are a few who are still progressing and edging out 10ths at a time. Looking forward to the race though. I think the results will be interesting, or not lol.

I agree with Shin. The first 2 races should be run without the pack being rebunched. The pack will spread out as the race goes on, and that's where concentration will be key. Keeping on the track, damage free and maintaining tyres will definitely yield results at both Daytona road and Indy. My times are slower than mosts, but last night I managed to keep consistent clean lap times, and I managed some good result finishes.

Tonight we will continue practice, starting with Indy road, so we can have a few more goes at the rolling start there. My lobby will be open from 8.30pm.
