Hey guys, there's going to be some Bathurst testing going on this week. If you'd like to join I just opened a lobby. Friend request me if you want to join or wait until someone else sets up an official practice room :)

Here are the times from last night practice. Another shuffle with the top 3, but Soka keeps his purple for now. There was some really good close racing last night. It was also great to be joined by guest racer Captain tiggles later in the evening, who recorded a lap of 55.675 during his first race.

With reference to Rosens question regarding bumping. With a busy grid of cars, on a circuit like Brands Indy, a bit of bumping is going be unavoidable. The racing is going to be very close, with wheel to wheel battles. This season of Sunday Cup was created with that in mind. I wanted to make the car as competitive as possible for everyone. The practice sessions are a way of trying to make sure that race day sees as few incidents as possible, as well as giving everyone the opportunity to maximize their lap times.

That being said, we are trying to create as real as we can racing experiences. Real Motorsport does see close quarter racing, and there are unintentional bumps, nudges and a bit of rubbing. As long as they are kept to that. Unintentional.

What we dont want is racers knocking each other off the track to make a pass, or making aggressive dives into corners. Also, what I dont want on the Monday after a race, is to have a long list of inquiries to look at, as this takes up a lot of time, and just delays the results.

The rules regarding this are in the opening post of this thread, as well as links to the good race craft guide.

It's quiz night for me down the local tonight, we're 1 for 1 in 2015 so I won't be able to lend a hand in Cowboy Bebop testing, which I want to start doing but....beer tokens....I mean orange juice tokens. The car's ready to go, I'd had it in the garage pre-empting SC5, derp!

All Lotii? are currently Scholesy liveried, apart for the BRG and Lotus yellow wheeled ones of course.:D

OK guys. We have had a really busy week getting ready for the Bathurst 12 hour race. We are nearly there now. Huge thanks to Sunday Cuppers who have helped us out with Bop testing this week. This has been a real help to us.

So now we move back to Sunday Cup. Its race weekend guys and practice a Brands Indy will resume tonight from 8.30pm. We will continue from where we left off last week with the CS tyre. Later in the evening we will run some races using the CM tyre and then finish off with some pit stop races.

Great practice tonight chaps! I've just watched the penultimate race back on the replay, wow what a cracker! Different tyre strategies bringing racers close together on the last couple of laps!! It's what this is all about, great close, clean racing! Passing Warren on the last lap and then Ade on the very last corner and much side by side running and just amazing fun :) and that's only a practice session ;)

Great session last night. Some new green times on the CS tyre were set, but Soka's purple from last week is yet to be bested. We also ran a few races on the CM tyre, with the fastest lap being 56.854 before finishing the evening with some 12 lap pit stop races.

Final Brands Indy practice will start tonight at 8.00pm.

Cracking final practice with a new purple time set and a few new greens aswell.

Thanks gents. Times will be posted tomorrow.

OK guys, heres the times from final practice. Soka managed to take nearly 2/10ths of his previous purple time. Also another handful of green times has shuffled the pack a bit more.

Tonights race will be a tough one. The shorts Brands Hatch circuit will throw up some great close racing, but it will also be a challenge to keep fast consistent laps. Whilst we have seen Soka smash the purple times in, he has also had his share of driving so close to the limit that his lap has been compromised. Back markers will also play a huge part in this evenings race. Whilst it is the responsibility of the lapping driver to pass safely, lets try to keep it as incident free as possible. So if you do find yourself in the situation where you are not battling for immediate track position and you have a faster driver trying to lap you, please let them through at the earliest, safest place possible. Probably the straight after Graham Hill bend would be the best place.

LOBBY RULES.png

One last thing. As you know, have run the last practice sessions in a lobby with fixed ownership. This was to see if the visibility issue improved. They did, with all drivers able to see one another. Even in very busy rooms those drivers who are normally affected by the visibility issue could see each other. There were a few issues with some of those drivers not being able to hear each other, but I think we can live with that.

The only draw back in running a fixed lobby is that if I suffer a DC, everyone else will be disconnected from the lobby as well. My internet connection is very good and very rarely do I suffer from any issues, so we will run tonights race with this setting. In the event that I should DC, please see the procedure below. We will still carry out a roll call at 8.25pm and reserve drivers will be called to the grid at 8.40pm if there are any spaces available.

Important notice.

Fixed lobby disconnection procedure.

Tonights race will be run through my capture card and saved onto my pc so we have some back up info should we suffer a DC.

Please try to remember your track position during the race.

In the event of a DC from my end, everyone will then be disconnected from the lobby. This will be treated as a red flag incident and the race will be suspended. The race will resume from the lead drivers lap number for the balance of the race, and all cars will be required to complete that amount of laps. (so lapped drivers would have unlapped themselves virtually)

I will then open another lobby and set it for the remainder of the race.

Once the new lobby is set I will message everyone to enter. Please remain in the lobby. Do not go onto the track or the pits until called to do so. When everyone is in I will call racers onto the track in their position order, so please remember the position you held before the DC. When your position is called, go onto the track and stay in that position. Once everyone is on and in position I will restart the race for the remaining laps.

Tyre change rules will still apply. If you havnt changed your tyres by the time of the DC, you must still run the minimum set amount of laps on the CM tyre. You may change your tyres before returning to the track. If you have changed your tyres you may continue to race end on the set you restart on.

Example 1. Driver starts race on CS tyre. DC occurs at 40 laps. He can either rejoin on CS tyres and pit to change to CM tyres for the minimum 16 laps, or change to CM tyres before rejoining the track and race to the end on CM tyre.

Example 2. Driver starts race on CM tyre and pits to change to CS after 16 laps. DC occurs at 40 laps. He may rejoin and race to the end on CS tyre.

Lets hope that we dont have to do the above procedure, but it is good to have a plan should we need it.

FFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why does my internet have to give up right in time for SC5 I was hoping to put some proper points on the board. Arrrrrrrrrrggggggggghhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!

Got a little punt but that's all academic, no hard feelings of course, it's me Scholesy. I will persevere till I get fibre in March.

Can empathise with Will and others a lot more.

Cracking second race of the season. A full grid again, but unfortunately we lost Sholesy so only 15 finishers this week. Sholesy will receive some compensation points based on starting position and percentage of race completed.

Also there were zero visibility issues, so the fixed room ownership did the trick. Fantastic.

Full results will be published tomorrow. Any racers wishing to log an incident should do so by 7.00pm tomorrow please.

However right now is the time for the top 3. Well done guys. Champagne time!!!!!

Brilliant combo, so all credits go to Ade.

My aim was a podium finish and a good lap got me 2nd in quali. So far, so good. But a slip up like you wouldn't believe got me a monumental false start and all the way down the order.

I've had great fights and had good fun, but the start defined my race. Pretty gutted, but no one to blame but me.
Congrats to all, you are a joy to drive with!

Race #2 done, bring on Race #3!

This must have been one of the best races ever when it comes to the time table, visability and dc’s (except for Scholesy, I feel for you).

I did a fairly good qualify, got my things together through the first laps and followed my strategy, two pit stops; 24 laps on CS, no fuel 16-17 laps on CM and CS on the last stint and fill up as recommended.

On the first stint I was on Wills tail for many laps. I tried to pass but couldn’t do it safe enough. (read fast enough) That hold me up a bit but on the other hand it made me drive in a safer and more comfort pace. Thanks for the ride! Same thing appeared on the third stint, but this time it was Warren and later Ade that I had in sight. Good fun!

I did my best to caress T1 but three times was my mind on T2 or one of the other beautiful turns and she responded by sending me out in the sand… and I lost positions.

Nomad and Canary, did you pit one or two times?

One stop for me.

Data from Tsukuba gave a drop off around lap 35. Mathematically this meant a similar drop off around lap 43 at Brands, given similar wear rates and behaviour (Rear Left taking the brunt).

The 20-30 seconds lost with an extra stop wouldn't ever be able to be reclaimed, given the length of the race. Even if I was running an extra second a lap, in the latter part of the stint. It was quicker to run a one stop.

Just my findings, if it's worth anything to you.

Nomad and Canary, did you pit one or two times?

One stop for me too. That said with hindsight I pitted too early on the CM's as it left too much to do on the CS's which were down to 7s and pretty ropey at the end. With maybe 10 laps to go I was ahead of Nomad and GC and can remember thinking to myself, ..."doing well, nice controlled driving, haven't come off yet"....Why oh why did that thought cross my mind, the seed had been set and I was in the gravel on T1.

If I had my time again I would have done another 10 laps on the CMs, although not finishing last was reward enough for now!
