Great final practice session last night. Lower on numbers with 5 trying to improve on times, but massive on laughs and banter. At one point we were even joined by the terminator, AKA Goodwolf.

During the session we also discussed the pit entry procedure, as the pit lane is located at the very fast right hander towards the end of the circuit. Please be prepared for your pit entry, and use the lines before the turn on the right of the track. Racers who are intending to pit should keep to the right of the track when approaching the turn, and enter the pit lane between the white lines before the start of the turn. Please refrain from cutting across the lines halfway through the turn to make your pit entry.

Also there are run off areas on the right hand turns, particularly turn 1. These run offs must not be used to gain an advantage through the turn. If you do accidentally take these turns wide please be aware of other cars when you try to get back on track and if you do get an advantage over another car, please give the place back.

So here we go again, Race #3 take 2. The lobby's seem fixed now, so here's looking forward to an excellent evening of racing. The lobby will be set to fixed room ownership again.

Feel free to come along and watch the race, if you feel up to it.

Ta ade. But the big red and white pills i've just taken will (hopefully) knock me out. At one stage i was seriously considering to move tv, rig etc into the toilet. Thats how mushed my brain is at the moment.

Well after a 1 week postponement, race #3 turned out to be a blinder. 36 laps were a real test, taking us over the usual hour mark and proving a challenge on fuel. Some great battles all through this race. The lobby held up, but it was unfortunate that Nomad suffered a DC. Full race report and results will be up tomorrow as usual. Awesome evening of racing. Thank you gents.

Really enjoyed the racing tonight gents. Excellent! Shock result for me. Couldn't have asked to do any better than that!

Apologies for not having been around much in the lead up. Between work and the hospital I've had really quite a stressful fortnight. The missus let me come home early to catch the race tonight though so I'm grateful for that. I could tell I was race rusty though, I guess I was just lucky I gelled with the track early on.

Have to apologies if I had any comings together with anyone out there too. I was seeing some lag, albeit manageable, from most of the cars on track tonight. Somewhat bizarrely the only person who seemed solid was Will, but I couldn't hear him at all. There were two occasions when I had to wonder if I'd hit a fellow racer as both Captain Gary and then Warren seemed to make uncharacteristic mistakes while I was in close proximity. This prompted me to check my replay as when I was on track I heard or felt no contact. My replay at least confirms this. Apologies to you both if i did infact seem to make contact, to anyone else who encountered me also i hope there were no issues.

The racing was close and respectful. I really enjoyed this combo Ade. A blinder, as you rightly said 👍 Thanks for putting on another excellent show mate. And thanks to my fellow Sunday Cuppers too. Awesome evening thank you :)

Well.....at least I've got stateoftheartsuperfastfibreopticbroadband now.

My race ended, after having spun getting to sixth, with a nice little bit of door to door action at the penultimate corner which resulted in me warping at the pit entry for an effective drive through.:(

2 regulation pit stops later and I'm chasing my tail, overdriving, trying to unlap myself (sorry to Rosen, Ali, Bo maybe some others).

I even dump it in the gravel on CS being lapped by the leaders coming back down the hill. Gary, Will, make sure you get that shot for me privately or for public consumption.:sly:

So a bit Maldonadoesque?! on the whole and maybe the game was right in giving me a drive through.

My tacho says I just don't do the required mileage.

Keep 'em coming though Ade! Conjure us some more devastating combos!👍

Great race last night gentlemen ,congrats to Shin and Cpt D and especially to you William with your magic strategy. Dazzling stuff!

Due to work last week I didn't do much practice, so my lap times never got to 52.2 even with an empty tank. Cobani's .3 pole time with fuel must have been a blinder. Awesome mate! I was jealous watching that because I always want to set the fastest time... even at the cost of consistency some times.

The race for me turned out better than I originally thought, having qualified 6th and then losing places to scholesy and Rosen. Had a good 10 laps at least of battle with Rosen, during which I was struggling with the car. Meanwhile, Scholesy spun so we gained a place. After some side by side racing with Rosen was finally in front and watching the battle at the front thinking.. common bo! Show 'em who's boss.
And then... You run out of fuel? What happened? I was somehow in front of bo, with my comforts on, but chased down by a very fast car coming from the back which must have been Third on sports. I was so relieved to see there was a pile up at the last corner with him involved. Then, Warren handed me a spot, very nice of him. So I'm now 4th on lap maybe 30, very happy with my place, but had forgotten all about Goodwolf who was coming in fast on sports, who had already passed bo and was coming to get me. Ha! Ha! You needed one more lap Dudo, one more lap! Woooohooo 4th baby!

Fantastic race guys! It was a thriller!

I started on the comforts and qualified behind Third. On the start Jammy timed it perfectly and got in front of me after turn 1, Castrol edge. After some time they got in trouble and rejoined behind Ade and Nomad. At that point I kept my cool and stayed out of trouble.

I jumped into the pits for sports tyres on lap 12 and hoped for the best. I was now in tenth place chasing down Third who changed his tyres on lap 9 and soon realized that he won't have enough of fuel to finish. I worked my way without any drama around guys on comforts, Canary and Rosen, who was close to Theewar to my surprise. 👍

Then after 32 laps the crazy scrap between Cobani and myself started. I was just hopping that he doesn't take us both out because Jammy was on fire and back in the race. On lap 33 he got to close to me before the last turn after my pass in Rindt corner. Little push from him meant more braking for me and slow exit that compromised my speed and sure enough he was back in the race. Before Remus, best turn in the world, I forced him to go wide, but Bo wasn't backing up. He wasn't on the racing line but made the turn and got in front of me so I couldn't get the run on him going out.
Here comes Jammy! In Schlossgold Jammy get's beside me but goes to deep. Bo goes to wide and almost on the grass.
I make a good run this time and try to avoid Jammy and in Audi Ultra I'm in 5th place with Cobani behind. All of that drama helps Soka to get away, but for me the race with Jammy isn't over yet. With Bo making mistakes I know that Jammy will be on my bumper soon. I need to push and with all that adrenaline rush it was easy.

After last turn I see a good gap between us but I'm out of fuel. It takes ages to get to the finish. The blue blur in the mirror is getting bigger. Jammy get's almost beside me when I cross the line.

What a rush!

(if it weren't for that meddling Bo I would have got you Soka)

Well guys, what a cracking night of racing. Love reading all the race reports.

Here's mine....

I knew this one was going to be tough. I struggled in practice with getting my times down. The extra week did help, but not anywhere near enough to give me a chance of a reasonable finishing position. So my strategy was to start on the CS tyre and pit after 12 laps. I knew that doing the minimum of 9 laps on CS would require a 2 stop strategy and was hoping that some others would fall into this trap. First few laps of the race were very tense and I managed to pass Third and Jammy after their excursion at T1. By this point I was also ahead of Nomad, but could feel them all breathing down my neck. I was then surprised to see Sholesy exit the pits in front of me around lap 9 and even more surprised to pass him in the pits on the next lap. By this time, I was lucky last again and Third pitted also on lap 9. This gave me a bit of a glimmer of hope, knowing he would have to stop again for fuel.

Goodwolf had the same plan as me and pitted on the 12th. As the race went on, I could see those now on the CS getting closer by the lap. I spent several laps closing in on Rosen towards the end of the race and almost made a pass through the esses, but slight contact put me in a tank slapper. With only a few laps left I managed the pass to put me in 9th place, but was aware of Third Reign closing in fast. Lap 35 made me realize that there was no way I would make it to the end with the tank now on fumes and the needle flat. I had no option other that a pit stop for a splash of 5 litres. Rosen re took his place and Third came past aswell as I was stationary in the pit lane. If only I had done just 1 extra lap on the CS tyre.

Right then. Race results.

Once again guys, thank you for your patience during the postponed start. Onto race #4 at Motegi in 2 weeks time.

Well here's my take on the race.
Started 4th, but after a few laps dropped to 5th, myself, Warren, cpt, shin and Bo went at it for near on 15 laps, separated by less than 4 secs at times. I don't know if it was mistakes or the dreaded power drop that helped me, but towards the pit window the others were struggling. I made my pit before shin and Bo, next lap I come thru the esses to find Bo run out of fuel, (stewards inquiry into shins fuel run! Lol) shin carried on for another lap! Who knows how he managed it.

After that it was a case of don't fall off and keep it steady, to my surprise I caught those in front and managed to pull a 4 sec gap, then towards the last few laps I could see shin getting closer, thankfully I managed to hold on to get the win. Awesome races guys and can't wait for the next round.

Wow, what a race! Congrats on Will, Shin & Cpt for the podium positions, and to everyone who drove in this captivating race. I loved this car/circuit combo, such a joy to drive!

I was happy to be able to compete, as I'd had a tough week leading up to the race what with an unexpected stint in hospital and then a week recovering.

OK... Qualifying was a bit of a non-starter. In the practice laps I put in a 1.52.6 on the SH, but qualified on CS and left it a little late, lining up in 13th behind third_reign & Goodwolf who were starting on the same CS tyres as me. Wow, did I not realise what an immense story of ups, downs and ups this race would turn out to be, and my fantastic race long battle with Goodwolf! :D we weren't always together during the race, but we were always destined to finish together!

Sooo, the lights go out! I had a good start and moved my way up to 10th by lap 3... Then I see an opportunity to overtake Canary at the first corner, but I ride the kerb awkwardly on the exit, get out of shape and lose 6 places and 6 seconds.... To the back of the pack I go... :boggled:

Lap 6 I've had good battles with Ade and Nomad to get up to P12, and I'm shaping up the pass on Third_Reign following very closely on the main straight. A little too closely as it turns out, with the slightest of taps from behind and Third then loses it... I figure that seeing as I touched him, I'd better wait... So I drop another 12 seconds and back to the very rear of the field once again, whilst I wait for Third to re-pass. D'oh! Such promising pace, & it's slipping away fast! :banghead: Don't give up though! :P

So I had a good few laps closely pursuing Third, but he pitted which left Ade as my next target. I close him down and I'm right on his tail, then he pits on lap 12. I stay out another lap, but when I come back out I've lost time because of the extra lap on the slower tyre. So, after I had pitted, this put me at the very rear again (for the 3rd time!). I catch and pass Sholesy on lap 15. Set my sights on Ade again. I close in and on Lap 19 I make the pass. Ade then stays with me for a few laps, and it wasn't till another 3 laps or so that I manage to put daylight between us.

Goodwolf is up ahead and around 10 seconds is the gap. I was trying to keep an eye on where he was, as I wanted to catch him back up following my early misdemeanours to redeem myself!

Over the next ten laps I attempt to close down the gap, setting my best lap of 1.52.205 on the way as I start to get in my stride (at last). I catch and pass Rosen and then Theewar on their different strategies. I can see Goodwolf in my sights, and up ahead he starts to squabble with Cobani. It looks a tough, hard battle, with no quarter given. Lap 34, I make my move on Goodwolf as I got a great run out of the 2nd corner & I hear him hit the Rev limiter, in frustration with his scrap with cobani! I dart out from behind and stick it in the inside, but Goodwolf performs a very neat undercut maneuver on the corner exit and re-passes me and then takes Bo who got out of shape.

I am then behind Bo, eager not to let Goodwolf escape too quickly, and then make a silly mistake on the last corner of the penultimate lap (rode the kerb, car snapped a little), getting all crossed up and catching the rear view button on my wheel, adding to the confusion, crashing into the pit wall and damaging the front quarter!

So, I have just one lap to close down Bo who made his escape again, but I just manage it on the final lap, and complete the pass half way round the lap. By this time, Goodwolf has built a gap in clear air. On the final straight, I see Goodwolf slowing as he apparently has run out of fuel! I can't quite take him by the line, only half a second behind! What a battle!

If I hadn't of made those silly mistakes at the beginning of the race, which cost me about 18 seconds, I could have been on for 4th place.

But hey, 6th is still a decent result, and I had an eventful race, 2nd fastest lap and a lot to be satisfied with. Loving the Sunday Cup and racing with each and every one of you! 👍

Congratulations to the podiums! You are so fast!

I had a great day at Redbull ring but I realized it first by the end of the race… A 10th position is kind of a victory for me, I’m very pleased. I did some testing before the race to figure out what strategy to follow and it was straight forward. Start on SH and pit when the fuel tank was empty. By then the SH was worn down to 8 or maybe 7. I think I pitted on lap 24, 25 or something. I knew that a half tank lasted for approx. 13 laps.

I tried to stay cool the first laps and it turned out well. Soka and I had company for 10 laps or so and I just waited to see him change tires from CS to SH but… he was already on SH. And I gave him a match!
Eventually he builds up a gap and disappears and I tried to analyze the surrounding racers, their pit strategy and so. By the end of the race faster racers starting to show up in the mirror and I didn’t try to go faster, I just wanted to stay out of trouble and make a safe trip to the finishing line. Ade passed me but when I realized that he was short on fuel and pitted on the second? last lap I couldn’t resist a small smirk.

Thank you everyone, SC is one of my favorite things in life!

Next lap I come thru the esses to find Bo run out of fuel, (stewards inquiry into shins fuel run! Lol) shin carried on for another lap! Who knows how he managed it.

Lol, the car is still I'm parc firmé mate you're welcome to test it ;) I think it's just driving style. I was coming in with a few litres extra on the SCAR testing too I think. That said, I was on fumes for that last lap! Got panicked when I saw Bo coasting I thought I was going to do the same. Just managed to make my stop though, strategy worked out great.

Nice drive to the finish dude. I pushed for a few laps, made a few mistakes, saw Gary in my mirror and then decided to calm down. No heroics just drive to the finish. But when I saw you being reeled in slightly I decided to go for 1st in those closing laps. Was so close to being able to make a move. I had some serious speed on you coming through those S bends for the final time. Just pushed too much and grabbed some grass. Put me back and that was that. Had a full on excursion into the gravel trap there earlier on, could have been worse! Although it wasn't quite as spectacular as Sholeseys off lol.

It sounds like I missed the race of the series :(:grumpy:
Damn you work schedule

OK guys. Massive thanks for all the race reports. Makes all the time and effort that's put into this really worthwhile when I read these.

Soooooo. Its time to start thinking about race #4. Twin Ring Motegi East is the next venue and following on from Red Bull Ring, we will take this race to just over the 1 hour mark again, so strategy hats will need to be worn. We will determine the lap count after some practice sessions. First official practice will be held on Friday from 8.30pm.
