I'm still reeling from my woes last night, really frustrated. I seemed to be getting somewhere in the pre-race practice, consistently between 2.06 & 2.07 and felt a lot more comfortable on the track than I had for a while. So to get DC'd in qualifying was a real pain. Back in the room with seconds to spare but now 'invisible'!

So onto the race and to be honest I didn't know if I could be seen or not. Starting from the back of the grid was my usual place but I felt sure that i would have been more mid-position based on the earlier qualifying. After avoiding the carnage of the first corner I spent the next few laps bumper to bumper with Paul, eventually getting past around lap 4(ish), by lap 8 or 9 I was coming up fast on Rosen and after a small mistake went to pass him on the inside of Lesmo 2. Cleanly past he carried out a perfect pit maneuver, launching me deep into the gravel. Grrrr.

After struggling to get cleanly out of the trap, I could see GC coming in fast. Keeping well over to the left, half grass, half curb, he hit me hard from behind. I might have sworn.

A few laps later Rosen had pitted and then I met him again as he exited and we went into the first corner side by side, only for him to take me out again! A couple of laps later I decided to pit, only to find myself sitting waiting while my mechanics had apparently gone on a lunch break. I was stuck and really pissed off!

It was then that it struck me. You guys couldn't see me, and Rosen didn't have it in for me! ;-)

Anyway I watched a few more laps and then left unsatisfied.

OK racers, results time.

But first my race report. (including disconnection problems)

During quali I managed to get to 5th on the grid, but surrendered the place when Canary got the DC. I was poised to add some further time to the session to allow him to re enter the lobby when I heard him, so thought everything was good. However as we lined up on the grid it was evident that he was not visible. In hind sight we should have delayed and opened a new lobby although there was no guarantee that would fix things. So we proceeded with the race, hoping Canary would be seen. It is apparent now that no one could see him. I will try to come up with a procedure we can use in the event of this happening again.

So onto the race. Starting 12th on the grid on the SM tyre, I managed to make up a couple of places early on when Goodwolf hit the inside of the chicane on T1 lap 1. It was then a case of working my way through those on the SH tyre, with a couple of lovely passes. Knowing I didnt have the pace to match those at the front, I settled into setting some nice consistent laps, pitting for SH tyres after 12 laps. I stayed on the SH for 10 laps with the intention of being able to push hard for the last 10 laps. I did just that, without seeing too much traffic and bought the car home in 7th place, which I was pleased with.

Disconnection points.

Both Canary and Soka suffered with connection issues in this race. Both of them completed around 13 laps. I have decided that they will both each receive points to the value of 5, which is the next points value down after NOMADS 6. However, Soka will receive an additional 2 points, one for pole position, and 1 for fastest lap of the race.

Track limits infringement car#77 JAMMYREX.

The below corners were taken during the race, when not in close proximity to other cars. Whilst it may not have been intentional, the corners were still shortened.

Lap 8 T2 4 wheels off track
Lap 15 T5 4 wheels off track
Lap 16 T5 4 wheels off track

After viewing these, I do not believe that this would have affected the race results from the outcome that we had last night. However, the track boundaries were broken, and because of this JAMMYREX is getting a warning. This warning will be carried into the next race. If further infringements occur, a 30 second penalty will be added to JAMMYREX final finishing time.

OK and finally heres the results.

So there we are. With 3 races to go, Weescotman has extended his lead to 9 points over Capt D, with Soka 1 point behind.

There will now be a 3 week break before race #6, as the SCAR teams prepare to take on their second GTPlanet endurance event, the Silverstone 12 hour race on 2nd and 3rd of May. Both teams will be participating in this, and as usual you are all welcome to come and help us in this campaign. Practice rooms will be open this week, with qualifying this weekend.

Sorry Ade, I realise that I had some scrappy laps as I was really struggling to find a rhythm, following getting passed from 1st to 4th in the opening laps really affected my concentration. Any incorrect corner lines were obviously not intentional, I was just really struggling to find my rhythm and couldn't settle to begin with and was feeling the nerves somewhat, until the 2nd half of the race things calmed down. I'll write up my race report soon.

I decided to start on the sh tyres as I knew I'd be loosing 2 secs a lap to the faster sm guys upfront. Started well, was hoping to draft behind the guys in front for a while, but after lap 2 they were too far ahead for any slip.
So head down and got into my rhythm, 2:06/2:07, could see some of the guys fighting with positions changing and hoped it would work in my favour. It did kind of, as I came round the last bend on lap 8 I saw soka tumble from first or second all the way down to 4th, then there he was as I was charging for the pits! (very unlucky, but knew I'd be seeing him again, or so I thought)

Pitted with no drama, new boots and away I went, straight into the mid 4's for 14 laps, began catching folk on their pits had a great battle with the cpt for a few laps, and had to be careful of Warren disappearing in his nice clean air. After 3 or 4 laps I managed to pass cpt and gap him, then in my rear view mirror I seen he ran wide at lesmo 2, (to my relief) then I had Warren to track down and try and pass, by this point I knew they were going to be on the sh at the end, where as I'd be sm all the way to the line.

Lap 20 and I decide to pit a few laps early to see if I could under cut Warren as I'd caught the back of his car, by this point tho I think both our tyres were going off and didn't want to battle with the chance of one of us going off, pitted and had 12 laps to catch Warren again, after he pitted I could see I was 2 to 3 secs faster on some laps with the different tyres, got passed him just after the first chicane and I was off, wasn't pulling everything out of the car as I know from past races that's been my undoing.

I could see the places for the final podium places were maybe going to change watching the map and seeing jammy catch cpt, and go past, then close up behind Warren towards the flag.

One of my more enjoyable races just sad that my nemesis soka got dc'd, as I was looking forward to another battle with him in the later stages of the race. Well done Warren and jammy for 2nd and 3rd.

Well done , will. I started behind you on the same tyres, but after a few laps i couldn't even see you. Caught capt-d in the last few corners but made a mistake in the last chicane clipping the back of capt and sending me way wide (i wasn't even trying to get past you!).Thought i had lost 4th until i see capt's car sieze (handbrake) just before the line gifting me the place. Even though i spent most of the race alone, it got fairly tense after a while with all the different pit strategies unfolding. Don't know how many times i said "am i going to overtake him before he exits the pits".

Thoroughly enjoyable. Thanks ade. You'd be hard pushed to find a nicer bunch of blokes to race with (although i wish some of them would slow down a bit).

It is the old, full length suzuka next?

Hey guys, apologies for my absent, and no reporting of it for others potential involvement, but I've been quite ill for a week now.

I rebuilt my bike last week and promptly contracted shingles. But not any old shingles, something called ophthalmic shingles?! I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy, I was pretty scared actually, Weils disease was mentioned at one point!!!!!

I've only been able to read the write ups just now as I've been virtually blind all week, I'm having trouble putting these sentences together right now as it's totally knocked me on my arse.

This season just won't give me a break. Love the race reports as usual. I hope I'm back on the rig asap, the seasons so great I won't let my time management/circumstances dampen it. I'm going to treat next season like some of the mentalists do GTA.

Sleep.Sleep.Sleep.Repeat!

That's bad news Paul, hope you're back on your feet again soon. 👍

It was quite an eventful race at Monza, with the need to make two pit stops for the first time this series making for diverse strategies and opportunities. I had my share of fun during the race, overtaking and being overtaken at various times. I had a particularly good battle with Will when I exited the pits after my first pit stop, lasting for several laps until I went wide at Lesmo 2 and losing the tow on lap 20. I pit for the second time, earlier than planned, on lap 22 and take on SH tyres. I'm third and Jammy is gaining fast on his SM's and is past me on lap 29 with Gary (megg) challenging me next. As we enter the Ascari chicane on the last lap we touch and Gary goes wide but crosses the line before me to take 4th place, great racing!

Unfortunate that SoKa was dc'd when in a strong position and that Alastair couldn't be seen at all.

Well done to Will, great win. Well done to Warren and Jammy for podiums.

Excellent set of pics again Gary. 👍👍👍

OK guys. So we are now on a little break from the season, as another discipline of motorsport needs our attention in the coming weeks. The GTPlanet Silverstone 12 hour race takes place on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd May. This event will be split into 2 6 hour races, starting on the Saturday at 12.00 BST, and coming to a controlled stop at 18.00. The race will then resume the following morning at 09.00 and the chequered flag will be waved at 15.00.

For this event both SCAR teams will be competing, with each team up against 5 other teams in their respective class. Starting tonight from 8.30pm I will be hosting some sessions to get ready for this event. Theses seasons will be fun, with some short races, free practice and the usual banter. For tonights session tyre and fuel wear will be switched off to simulate the qualifying conditions for this event.

If you would like to get involved in this, please join us at Silverstone in one of the cars elegible in both the classes involved. GT Cup (SCAR LOTUS) and GT500 (SCAR HONDA). The details of each class can be found below the team graphics. Please be aware that the NSX is the Acura variant. Also, all cars are race cars. It would be great to have a busy grid with as many of the different cars on track as possible.

So if you are looking for some track action whilst Sunday Cup takes this short break, see you on the track. The lobby will be open from 8.30pm.

QP1 and 2 results are up. Great times set by Will and Soka put SCAR Lotus 3rd in class behind both NSX teams, but only by less than half a second. There is a 3rd Quali session tonight, but we are only allowed to take part in 2, so we should find out later if we can hang on to third.

Giorgio set the fastest lap in class for SCAR Honda with an awesome time of 1:54.095.

So now the hard work begins. My lobby will be open from 8.00pm tonight, and throughout the week from 8.30 to get the team's ready for next weekend. As always, any help any of you wish to give us will be appreciated.

Prior to the grid being published, the results from all quali sessions show both SCAR teams with great starting positions. SCAR lotus set the fastest combined Q times for GTcup and start 1st in class, and seventh on the grid. SCAR Honda narrowly missed out on pole position by 0.031 with their combined Q times.

Well done guys. :bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:

I will be hosting practice lobbys throughout the week starting tonight from 8.30pm.

Better get practicing then. I wouldn't want to let the team down.

The starting grid for this weekend endurance race has been published, with both SCAR teams in very respectable positions. Tonight will see the final practice session before the green light tomorrow. Lobby will be open from 8.30pm.

On behalf of myself, GC Gary and all of the drivers, I would like to say a massive thanks to everyone who has helped us with practice sessions. This has been a huge team effort, and your assistance has been tremendous.

Racers, Good luck tomorrow.

LETS DO THIS!

OK guys, thanks for all the support Sunday Cuppers have provided over the last few weeks as we prepared for this endurance event. We now await the results. Both teams put in a fantastic effort.

So we move onto race #6 of the season. Practice for this will start during the week, with mega practice sessions being held next Friday and Saturday.

I was going to start practice tonight, but I think I have exceeded my GT credits as far as my wife is concerned for this weekend and tomorrow is my wedding anniversary.

Maybe tomorrow evening I will host the first session, but I wont know for sure until the afternoon.

If anyone wishes to host a session tonight and post up times, that will be great.

Results and standing after round 6 of the GTPlanet endurance series.

After a very tough weekend of racing with both SCAR teams putting in an outstanding effort the results are available.

SCAR Honda had it the toughest, being put on the back foot after the first driver change, when issues getting into the lobby and onto the track lost them 6 minutes and 3 laps to the leaders. With the weather against them, they battled on in 100% wet conditions, and making the time back was always going to be an impossible task.

SCAR Lotus fortunes were the reverse, with no issues surrounding the driver changes and at the end of the first 6 hour leg, the team were in P2 with 1 lap separating P1. The second leg started dry with Will chasing down Green Hell heathens for nearly 4 hours, getting the gap down to less than 40 seconds, all the time with the NSX of Hyperion breathing down his neck. Lobby issues caused a red flag, at which point it started raining just as Soka joined the lobby and in the confusion of the restart he was ordered back to the pit lane. This lost us time on the leader and gave Hyperion the place ahead of us.

Although the results were not what the teams would want, they put in a supreme effort in horrendous conditions. SCAT Lotus still top the leader board in GT Cup class, and the overall championship table shows both teams in the top 10. Out of 50 teams that is an awesome achievement.

OK, onto Sunday Cup race #6. The first practice session at Suzuka will be tonight from 8.30pm. It is my anniversary, but it would seem a boat picnic today has managed to buy me a bit more GT time this weekend.

Last nights first timed runs at Suzuka were good fun. After a busy weekend on GT6 with the S12 race, I didnt think there would be many about, but 7 on track provided enough to get some times. The car feels good, although to start with there were a few spins as we got used to where the grip is on the track. We only ran 4 races, but that was enough to see the times start to tumble.

I was hoping to get on again tonight, but the bank holiday weekend has given me an extra busy Tuesday.

Practice will resume tomorrow from 8.30pm and continue on Thursday before this weekends usual pre race sessions.

Lap count for Sunday race will be determined from these sessions.

I have to share what The World of Racing published this morning;

Sunday Cup Showdown at Suzuka

Yesterday Lucy Ewing from The World of Racing went to Suzuka and the hectic preparations for the upcoming showdown this Sunday. She caught one in the Team Rosenlundaren crew and got some explicit inside information.

How are the preparations going?

The basic testing are now done and we are looking at the small details to make the driver and car as fast as possible without decreasing the reliability. This night we were three teams on track – the semi-French team with Paul as driver and team Canarywolf. We were all struggling to find grip and tire economic lines.

Can you reveal any special tricks?

Well, the car is pretty much standard and there are few things you can tune but we have found out that soft suspension is nice to the tires and one key is where you put the ballast. And when it comes to the driver…eh…he is going through a non-alcoholic diet for a period now and his temper is kind of up and down. Off the record; the crew is longing for the period to end.

And finally, what is the team Rosenlundaren goal on Sunday?

Wish I could say top three, but we are fighting in the other end of the list. This race is going to be very interesting; the pit strategy together with fuel and tire consumption will play a big part. Of course, we are fighting for every position but by the end of the day we just want to have fun. That’s our major objective!”

Great practice sessions this week have seen improvements in times, with Will setting the pace by breaking into the 16s.

Strategy will be crucial for this race as Suzukas tarmac is very brutal on the tyres.

I was hoping to view the replays this afternoon and post up Wednesday and Thursdays combined times, but have not had the chance. ( got home and the cat was in labour ).

Practice will continue tonight from 8.30pm and we will continue with some 5 lap runs on SM tyres before doing some pit stop tyre change runs.
