Top man for organising all this mate :D
Good to see that everyone in the cup is a clean racer. So gutted i had to miss the first race, but will now have to get on it!
The race was really good fun, even though i was lurking around the back-and was only by fluke i didn't finish last!
Had a good few battles with Optimoose29 and Rosen. Sorry if i took anyone out or cut anyone up! Bit rusty as it was the first time i'd raced for 3 months.
Looking forward to the next one, and really need to look at the setup of the car - i was alright through the twisties, but got annihilated on the straights!

As for the 3 options....crafty :sly: At first I didn't think there would be any impact if we are all still at 177 bhp, but once I've had a good look.... I'm saying NOTHING!!!! 👍

I've had that same look, Omnius (at least I think :)), but ...

Although a certain upgrade (cough 3 cough) looks superior to the others in theory (the numbers), I've run a simple test on Monza with all the versions of the upgrade. Bought myself a test Elise and did a standing start with 3 marks during acceleration.
Did it with AT for no input interference, then with manual transmission.
Both with the same results between the upgrade-kits ... it's the same, no difference. :dunce:

So to get a brainstorm session underway, what did I do wrong?

Superb pictures Coop, thanks for posting them. It was a great midfield battle. We may not be quite as quick as Jamesy, Cobani and Cobrius, but its the great clean racing that we are getting thats making me so pleased I created The Sunday Cup. I am really enjoying it 👍👍👍

Anyone tried any of the upgrades at Monza yet and got times to post?
I have managed a 2:03.7xx after a few trials, and transmission adjustments. Straight line speed will be key here, with slipstreams followed by chicanes a possibility to upset the front runners.

I also have done the same test using auto, and I think its straight line speed that will make the difference.
Try all 3 again, using the 177bhp, and see what mod gives the higher top end speed.

Glad you enjoyed it mate, and I think its going to get better as the season goes on.

i will be more ready for Monza, so it wont be like the last race for me, i am sorry for my actions for the last race, i am sorry to the people i may affected, and i promise they wont happen again, i am more prepared for the next race.

Thats OK Tony, and I do understand that you only found out about the event 30 minutes before the race and had no prep time. If anything it highlighted to me the need to bring in the new rule about retiring from, then rejoining a race, and the consequences it would carry. Keep practicing, and work on your awareness and you will be fine.👍

I have still been working with all 3 upgrades (A.T, with pad) to see if there is any big differences between the upgrades, and I am finding that there is one that is giving me better results than the others. My time at Monza is now down to 2:02.0xx, although I know that sooner or later Jamesy or Cobani or Cobrius will smash that. I am going to have a practice with manual transmission tonight with the wheel, so I am expecting to trim a second off that.

No worries! :)

Well that has scuppered my plan to have a pre practice online shake down session tonight, there is maintenance to GT's servers. http://eu.gran-turismo.com/gb/news/d41616.html

I will just have to have an offline practice by myself.

Sundays short race practice session will be going ahead still at 8.00pm. For anyone who hasnt joined us for these sessions, they are very helpful in getting used to the track in a racing environment with other drivers. They consist of several 3 lap races with reverse grid from previous race. This way we get to see how the car behaves with slipstreams and overtaking.

We have 5 drivers attending Sundays practice session this week so far, so if you fancy a taster for next Sundays race, Sunday at 8.00pm is short race practice time.

Yes, make that seven. 👍

I have made that 7 👍

going to have a run tonight by my self, and see how i do, i cant even rememberer what lap times i am getting.

Had a bit of a shake down tonight, my best was a 2:01.4xx. Not the fastest, but I am pleased with it.
Thanks to Cobani, Jamesy, Omnius and Trotter for joining me. Tomorrow is short race practice night, should be interesting.

I think that a good tow 'round the circuit could well give you a second.
It won't help you in quali, but in the race, everyone who gets a decent slipstream can move up the field.
If you think about it, two drivers 'working together' could be faster then one man up front.

The results below are from testing out the upgrades on Route X. All runs were carried out using automatic transmission with the same gear ratios that I used at Nurburgring and using a control pad. I did 3 runs with each mod, and got exactly the same time for each run. The times in green are the fastest. Whilst these times are not going to be representative of how the car will behave at Monza, it is clear that each separate upgrade does have a different affect on the car.

Dont forget, its short race practice night tonight, 8.00pm GMT.

If you wish, as I am so far off the pace it's not funny :banghead: you can give my place to a reserve driver for the Monaco race? 💡

I just can't get a lap faster than 2:07!

Sunday Cup Monza practice results

JAMESYBOGRAT...2:00.616
COBANI...2:00.674
ADE3210...2:01.370
NOT4A4...2:02.386
TROTTERLOVER79...2:04.057
COBRIUS...2:05.054
TONYBUK...2:06.720
OMNIUS...2:08.008
ROSENLUNDAREN...2:08.321

These times are based on the 3 practice races that we all attended tonight. This time Jamesy is the pace setter, but as we all saw tonight, this race could go any way. If anyone recorded faster times, let me know please.

No chance, you are in....Monaco?

:ouch: I can't even get the track name right! I mean Monza

lol, i was much faster than that on my own lol, but o well, cant wait for next sunday. its going to be a close race for the back drivers looking at the times.

The practice session yesterday was very useful for me, thank you guys! Particularly to Ade for running this event!

After a short look at the replay I notice that it is possible to drive a lot faster through the bends than what I'm doing. I suppose it depends on driving skills (70%) --> more time behind the wheel for me, and tweaking the car in the right manner --> I have to understand what settings affekt the performance the most. I have just begun to walk that path...

Right, going from the whining to a question. :)

All sectors are key to perform great speed on a track, but I think the chicanes plays a big role at Monza. So how should I act if I drive off the track, which means all wheels are off the tarmac? You know, up on the curbs or even more off so all wheels are outside the curbs. Should I let the fellow driver right behind me pass and give him a honk and here we go again? I'm a little unsure how to act.

Good question, I can only awnser from my own point of view.
If I would miss the chicane by not having at least two wheels inside or on the white line on the track, I would consider it corner cutting and I would make sure that no advantage was made. Thus when followed by another driver, I would make the gap what it was before the off track excursion. If I gained a position I would give it back. It's all about fair play and gentlemen rules in my mind.

I do realise that a lap 'round Monza is very hard to get right every time, so mistakes are bound to happen in the heat of the moment. And sometimes I find it hard to see/feel/check if I indeed made the chicane the right way. Little things like that will accure in next week race for sure. We are all human. (right? :scared:)

There a big difference between not making the chicanes on a regular bases and having a moment or two when pushing on the limit.
I'd rather loose a point and know I had a fair race, then gain one with a questionable move.

So you don't follow the Schumacher school of racing then :sly:

Cobani is right with this answer. Monza is a very fast track, and there will be occasions when we wont get every corner right, especially when coming into a corner or chicane in slipstream. As long as everyone is mindful, and aware of others track positions, we hopefully shouldnt have too many incidents. If any drivers do cause positions to be lost through careless cornering, and dont give the positions back, I am sure that the race stewards will be on hand to dish out any penalties.

You will find online with other drivers that you cant get the same results as offline practice. Monza can catch you out. This track really needs the slow in fast out approach especially at the chicanes. A little bit of care will save you a lot of time in the long run.

Hi ADE. :) If there's a spot open on Sunday, I'm in. I can finally drive with 2 hands again after my tussle with a dog.

Would love you to join us Rhino, but it would mean all headsets to be switched off during the race if the room exceeds 12, if that is OK with everyone else.
