I stand behind my post, learn how to drive effectively in rain and you should not have penalty issues
I think the issue they're referring to is that when you do get penalties in the rain, after one of the more recent updates, the penalties given are as if you cut the Monza chicane or something. Far too much of a time penalty given for relatively small off-track incidents.

Something's a bit wonky when it's faster to full send off the track and letting the game reset you than rejoining the track normally and taking the 15s penalty.

I grind daily on the WTC700 at LeMans and I do not see those items as you describe. If you drive in the rain like it is dry then yes you will have those issues, TC is not for the rain so why do you put it on max in rain?
Learn how to drive effectively in the rain and will not see crazy penalties, it won't be like on ice, you should not have problems...
Interesting that my real life vehicle has TC and it activates in the rain and snow. Silly me for thinking that in a game that's touted as real driving simulator, that TC would also work in the rain. My error on that as its different with race cars.

Got to love people like you that are myopic and utterly condescending. Because something doesn't happen to you or you don't understand something, it means its non-existent or the person is lying etc. I've been given penalties doing nothing wrong driving in the rain, you are on the tarmac, not even touching curbs etc. Driving dry, touching a particular curb gives no penalty. Touch that same curb in the rain you get a penalty. I've been hit off by the AI and given 10 sec penalties a few times as well in the rain. Again, in my experience driving Le Mans circuit, the penalty system seems more hyper reactive than in dry driving.

Also the AI some how on slicks are able to get forward motion when I can't on same slicks. Its not every time but its happened often enough for me to notice it. Several cars like the Viper and the Supra will pit in during rain and still come out on slicks. Makes no sense and needs to be tweaked. Go ahead and look at a replay after the cars pit in the rain. Then look at every car and you will see some on rain tires and some still on hards/med/softs, even when there is a massive down pour.

I grind WTC 700 daily as well and this is what I've experienced over the years.

I stand corrected on my myopic views, no further comments will be made by me.

You forgot "condescending". And Great news on the latter lol.
The only thing condescending here is your apparent lack of ability to drive in the rain. Whenever the heavy rain comes (enough where you should switch onto at least intermediates), the AI careens off the track at almost every corner and slows to a crawl. I routinely win by over 2-3 minutes when it rains heavily.

The first part of your comment is utterly senseless. I don't think you know what condescending means or how to apply it in a sentence attacking someone.

I can drive in the rain fine as I've been grinding for quite some time on that track/series. I simply stated a fact about the rain physics I have experienced. The rain driving has been constantly tweaked and the last one made penalties abound even when you didn't even go off track. How some of you can defend that is beyond me. The weird penalties for doing nothing wrong are there in the dry too, just not as hyper as in the latest rain tweak.

As for the AI careening off the track that is true but occasionally in my game there are a few of the AI cars that continue to do well initially in the rain even on slicks, when I cant get any traction on the same slicks. I've seen them keep up with me on wets with them on slicks "on straights" as well, occasionally. If you are fine with that no prob, you don't see me attacking any of you for your experiences in the game or making silly assumptions about your driving skills.

The thread was pet peeves and I stated mine that I've observed. Don't like it, nothing I can do about that.

Maybe it’s not quite the only thing ……….. ;)

This game does weird things sometimes. I don’t doubt that some AI have just ran in the rain on racing tires with no hitch, I have seen that happen, but it hasn’t happened to me much. I’ve also driven past them on lesser tires while they’re spinning circles on a straight, so it goes both ways.

I just finished testing some cars on Watkins Glen, all in the same performance points range. Most cars I was able to thread the needle fine and see what kind of lap times I was running to tweak them all the same. But one of my races I swear the AI was out to get me more than usually. I got spun out five times. Watch the replay I got pit maneuvered every time on a straight. I thought the car was loose, didn’t even realize it was them! Wtf? I back out, go in again, do it again and finish 1st with clean race bonus in the exact same car.

I don’t know what happened on the “pit maneuver” race but it happened and I man was I frustrated hahaha.

Anyway this weird stuff usually doesn’t keep happening… but I wonder if it’s because I didn’t select RETRY, I actually backed out the event and to the Home Screen and then went back in and it loaded something else up for me?

Oh, I've seen this. The WTC 700 Le Mans race, yesterday I got a 6 sec track limit penalty for sliding off in the rain, today, 18.5 second penalty!

Almost a year and a half since release and we still don't have the cones from GTS.
what cones? if you are referring to the driving assist cones they will NOT be added, get used to the brake zone assist and the apex markers

Why would you expect them to arrive? Were they supposed to?
There were references to them in the game and in the online manual when GT7 launched. Was later patched out.

Yes. And it's annoying to have lost them as an option.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but penalties can be negated by slowing down briefly if you suspect you disobeyed the track limits.

Obviously only applicable when you know you've done wrong, but still....

In single player, sometimes/usually they can be, though not always. Sometimes it can minimize time penalized, but not a guarantee it will eliminate a penalty being issued.

Like i had said above, "get used to the brake zone assist and the apex markers"

i never liked the cones because someone else (or you) would hit them and poof your brake markers are gone...

Like I said above, it's annoying to no longer have them as an option.

I find it much more immersive to have the extra brake markers as physical objects on the track compared to hovering icons and giant red blocks blanketing the entire width of the track.

Again, more assist/accessibility options = good.

It was brought up in another thread, and I didn't think too much about it until now, but the special picks being tied globally instead of being based on your own personal wish list. I feel like it'd be much more convenient having the rotation be based on your personal picks instead.

S15's SR20DET as Z432/S30 engine swap option: Just... why? Because it's also a two-liter engine? (The Z432 has a 2-liter engine derived from the Hakosuka.)

Why not the engine from the R30 Silhouette or the R34 GT-R GT500 '99 instead (the latter as a sly reference to Tokyo Xtreme Racer's interpretation of Devil Z, called ???/Unknown)? The other two Wangan Midnight cars (930 Turbo and R32 GT-R) has racing engine swaps, after all.

Maybe because the SR20 is hands down the most popular engine to swap into Nissans in the real world, and has been swapped into S30s in substantial quantities.

Personally, I'd prefer a RB26 swap for the S30 chassis, but it is what it is.

They were my preferred markers too, much cleaner and more immerive than the brake zone assist.

As for players/drivers hitting the cones, making cars just pass through them, or having them reset in place is going to be no less immersive than the brake zone currently is.

So I agree, having it as an option would have been nice.

Just had a look at the Forza Garage/Showroom demo. Why in the world can’t our garage look like this?

VR Showroom is fantastic. It should be available in flat screen as well. Yet, the pic above should be what we see from the time we first booted up the game and had access to our garages. The different sizes of the garage, through our progression, is what needs to be shown when we click on our garage. PD keep missing these opportunities.

Yup. I cannot fathom why PD went with a spinning microwave platter over a grey background and called it a day. Nostalgia for when games couldn't render anything more complex?

They made the Cafe display your car in a dynamic space when players have very little reason to revisit after finishing the menus but can't do something similar with the actual garage display?

One could probably use the PS4 as a scapegoat for that, and I don't think they'd be too far off. If you play the game on PS4 the cutscenes for the legend cars/hagerty, as well as the background menu when you're viewing a car in the LCD, are kind of laggy. I know personally I don't want my garage to be laggy because it has to render redundant meshes and textures.

I guess all-in-all I'm actually fine with the current "microwave platter" look. The only gripe I have with it is the lack of a free cam like you can get in the livery editor. Not being able to see your car's right side is just a weird choice.

I have it, on good authority, that if GT7 had been released purely on PS5, the cars would have been displayed in a microwave, not only on the platter.

Upon selecting/getting into a car in your garage, a (customisable) 5 second microwave countdown beep would commence, before the appliance door opened and your car would emerge.

Which may seem unusual, but it does tie in with the whole 'Cafe' theme.

Covid has a lot to answer for. ;)

What you want them to just cut off PS4 just for the sake of it? For the vibes?
Basically, yes. GT7 was never intended for PS4, it was modified to work with PS4 as a stopgap due to C19 and supply issues. Who here doesn't know that GT7 is supposed to be a PS5 game,?? It's beyond time that we get the game that was advertised, not the reduced model.
