I'm kind of confused I thought in that picture posted by GainSym they were playing Shift 2-PC using a Thrustmaster? Was that a different wheel then....
GainSym has been posting that other picture with a G27 and a T500RS that makes it look like the T500RS is 15 feet tall. I'm guessing that GainSym is letting their enthusiasm for the wheel cloud their better judgement a little, but I could be wrong...
Yes you are wrong :sly:

Picture of G27 and T500RS comes from here:

T500 RS works perfect with Shift 1 using profile 25 (fanatec 911 turbo s wheel). So why it should not work with Shift 2?
I will test it tomorrow..

Seems like you guys are referring to PC compatibility?
Does anyone have a definitive yes or no regarding the PS3/T500RS compatibility for Shift 2?

A lot of people has got the game before the launch, and are playing it, but not officialy released. An early update could be ready for the launch day, as in GT5 launch (I have this hope, at least).

I have a T500RS and tested it with retail Shift 2 and it is definitely not supported by the game (no FFB).

The buttons work and you can turn the car with the wheel but it only has turning resistance.

I will have the PC version of Shift 2 today and will try it out with T500RS, but I expect it will work 100%.

I look forward to your test with the pc version.. In Shift 1 the ffb was ok so I hope it will be the same or better in shift 2..

I tested today with Shift2 on PC and FFB works fine 👍

Yeeeeees :)
Thank you!
Now I have to wait 24 hours to play one of the coolest release in 2011 :D
Which profile do you use with which settings? Especially steering lock.. Full 1080? Or just 450?

F[censored] NO!

Patience, on one hand EA havnt said "They will NOT support it" even if they cant be assed to confirm if they will or wont.
Final shipping build of the game was probably a few weeks ago and it wouldnt of been a priority, so give them some more time Dave.

The game will likely have several updates/patches and maybe one of those soon will include T500 support.

It would be nice if they would say T500RS support is coming in a patch but silence to me = no support planned

I'm only keeping 1 console version and the graphics look so much better on XBOX for Shift 2, so the PS3 version is going back anyway!

I will have the PC version in a few hours and will compare how good the FFB is on the T500RS vs Fanatec 👍

Yeah understood but not always the case.

One example of silence, GT5 Multiscreens...
Sometimes nice surprises do happen.

Id like to see some X360 / PS3 comparisons not just regards graphics but wheel performance (regards fanatec) It is likely Eurogamer will have a graphic comparison in the near future.

Might be a reason to try and fix the PWTS CSP (again) and dust it off.

Hello guys,
I read the forum and I see that some people are getting or got abrasive fan noise. I got The T500rs two weeks ago and I just started to get the noise. The noise is now a bit more pervasive. Just wondering what other people's experience with this issue were and what was the outcome. Any info would be greatly apreciated.
Thank you

here is my setup

optoma hd20 + denon avr1610 & klipsch hd500 combo

did a small write-up and small movie here of the T500 tested in GT5/LFS/RBR/iRacing

iRacing all-in package costs totals to $720 for all tracks and cars... wow :)

videos like yours the reason why I made my videos, u guys show urselves going so smooth so other people think its a dumb wheel that's arcadey, my vid shows realism : P

at the end of ur video u show the person getting out of control in 3rd person, that's so arcadey unrealistic

in all 3 games we're hardly "any good", and lose control of the car in different sections;
the last segement with RBR on snow and hilly terrain I don't expect any other reaction, ever tried driving through snow on unknown terrain ? I had the unfortunate chance to try this out this last winter, far from a joyride;... nothing arcade about any of it.

for those who can run RBR courses without crashing: hat tip!

regarding iRacing, I found the FFB to be quite good and a lot more "gritty", especially with lower powered cars, compared to others games
anyway..; to each his/her own ;)

I'll get RBR later and use it. I had the G25 or the GT3RS running in Dirt 1 and beat some WR time on a track. Your car just has to be setup to take each corner because if you come into a corner too fast because you blew through all the previous ones you would crash. I think I had the G25 when I played RBR before and did pretty good. You just need to make sure the wheel position is making the car steady and not keep making the side to side fish tailing motion happening. I would say once or twice back and forth but anymore is just a time waster.

Tested the T500 RS now with the PC version of Shift 2 Unleashed.
It works great! Force Feedback is strong, nearly as strong as in iRacing imo. (Configured the wheel with these settings: FFb effects 100, steering deadzone 0, steering sensitivity 60, throttle deadzone 0, throttle sensitivity 80, brake deadzone 0, brake sensitivity 60, clutch deadzone 0, clutch sensitivity 100, speed sensitivity 0, speed sensitivity drift 0, steering lock 50 % (450° - in the thrustmaster setting menu wheel is set to 900 °), steering lock drift 100 %. I took the Fanatec Porsche 911 Turbo S wheel configuration with H-Pattern.
I am very happy with it, the game has by far the best graphics I have ever seen in a racing game!

so far one of my favorite t500rs vid was made by simracer92 (I guess same guy posting above me) --- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7_ARFvG9IE

you can really see the force feedback of this superb looking wheel. And yeah I personally love to watch films shot in 1st person cockpit view.

I really appreciate you guys posting up these films I'm going through them all :D

mitchcarino,
So it's not the motor noise, like talked about below? It is a fan noise you are hearing ?

No, Vr. It's definately the fan. It sounds as though it is offcenter for about two and a half minutes after it initially turns on. Then it goes back to normal. This sound was not present during the first week of game play. The wierd thing about it is it goes back to normal after about 3 mins. I sent Thrustmaster a vid, They aknowledged they received it and said they would get back to me. I'll keep you posted if you're interested. I know other people have had this problem before I did. I' wondering what their outcome was.

Thanks it's good 👍 (even if less awesome than on GTR Evo Profile2, Richard Burns Rally or nKar Pro V.3). I use the same but with these settings on T500 CPL:

I didn't like iRacing much.. the FFB isn't as real as it should be as other racing games like GTR2, LFS, GT5, and Shift 2.

What is "real"? I would argue "real" FFB, as in the kind you get in a real car on the track, is less force and vibration than you think.
