My T500 RS arrived today and I have used it for a few hours after a fairly straightforward firmware update. Mine is a version 2 and after 2 hours of play the fan was on but no louder than my PC fan (which is easily drowned out by the ambient noise of GT5). The wheel is spectacular and has completely tranformed my experience of GT5. I will keep you updated if anything changes.

Is there a way to make the wheel lighter and adjust the rotation angle and make it less on a PS3? I find the wheel really heavy. I've already turn power steering on in the GT5 option but that doesn't really do much and I need less rotation as the wheel still isn't that big enough.

Hello RBD

You have to download the software of the thrustmaster site, then connect your wheel to the computer, to get the latest firware.
In the software ia a menu that allows you to set the ffb and wheel rotation.👍

Not possible to change the rotation angle in PS3, but you can reduce the force feedback strengh in GT5 options, and the turn sensivity.

The values changed in the PC driver are not saved in the wheel´s firmware.

That's what I thought. It's not the FFB that is bugging me, its how heavy the wheel is when turning it. The spring tension is just too heavy for my taste. Guess I just need to get use to it. Maybe start building some muscle strength and wear racing gloves.

It depends from the car: the jump from road to race cars is noticeable in this sense.

I play with force feedback set to 3, and with race cars (and high performance road cars) it is too many spring tension for me.

I also use FFB set to 3. I think it still feels great and will reduce wear and tear on the motor.

Go do the Loeb Special Event. When you get to the snow race, you'll notice a significant difference.

Where do you set the force feedback, you said something about the options menu but cant find it.

In GT5 options -> wheel settings (the 1st Driving Force gift). The menu shows only a DF and a DFP icon, but since an update the set affects to T500 RS also.

Hello guys,

I´m from Portugal and I´ve bought mi T500RS on February.
I was very disapointed because it doesn´t work on F1 2010 PS3.
I don´t have access to the "force feeback options" and "advanced wheel settings".
I had to buy the GT5 to play with the T500RS. It´s a fantastic wheel compared to another wheels on the market.
Now I checked that the V37 Firmware was available from Thrustmaster and I have downloaded it on my PC and I made this new firmware upgrade.
Then I went to see if those Menus on the F1 2010 (PS3) were available but it keeps unavailabe.
I´ve installed the F1 2010 game on my PC and all the menus were available!!!
I love to play F1 2010 on my PS3 and I´ve bought the wheel to play it but without access to those menus it´s impossible to play F1 2010.
Do you think there will be a new patch from the Codemasters to recognize this wheel on the F1 2010 game?!
Meanwhile I have to play only the GT5 on my PS3 till the release of a new patch for the F1 2010 on PS3.

Regards,
Hugo.

Question for the T500RS experts:

In Steering Settings:
1st option is "Steering Type" with 3 options:
Amateur / Professional / Simulation

I've had it on Sim since the start but am curious as to what's the difference?

This setting only affects the older Logitech wheels. Notice the pictured wheels change as you move to a different setting. Some say they notice a difference back in GT5p. I still don't notice a difference if I change that setting.

Thanks Dave, glad it's not just me as I didn't notice any difference either.

This question would be better asked at the
Codemasters site.

It´s for the first Driving Force only.

Sure not. You will have to wait until september for F1 2011.

@Gfroce & @texmex

Both F1 2010 & NFS Shift 2 can be played on PC. I play shift 2 all the time on my PC. If you have a good PC, you can enjoy great framerate, stability, and the flexibility to use any wheel setup you want

Granted for F1 2010 / Dirt 2, I read you have to do a few steps to get the wheel recognized due to their lackluster wheel detection system.

I wouldn't hold a breath for a magical patch that will add support for the t500rs. As far as I know, only Nascar 2011 will be patching in support for t500rs

Oh btw, if you are concerned with having to use a keyboard with shift 2, etc on the PC- then you can use AutoHotKey or something similar to remap your wheel buttons to emulate keystrokes to traverse the menus

Hey guys, I read through alot of this thread but couldn't really find an answer to what I'm looking for (maybe I just missed it, if so sorry in advance)
Anyway, I have a question for anyone who owned a G25/G27 that upgraded to this, I was just wondering if they think the extra £260~ (on top of the price of the G25/27) was worth it? Is the T500RS really 2/3 times better? The reviews I've read/watched say that it really is that much better but I was hoping someone on GTP could answer it as GTP'ers wouldn't be swayed by free swag like alot of reviewers can be.

Thanks in advance

I've had the pleasure of owning all three. At the time I thought the G25 was revolutionary compared to what was available in it's price range then. The G27 was an evolutionary upgrade and I did enjoy it more than the G25 as I felt the steering was a bit smoother.

I then upgraded my G27 with a perfect pedal and "WOW" didn't cut it with the new brake. At the same time that I installed the perfect pedal, I noticed my local Fry's had the T500 so I figured I'd give it a shot.

I cannot begin to describe the difference between it and the Logitech wheels. I shaved a substantial amount of time on my laps, just due to the steering ability. While I would love to see a Perfect Pedal solution for the T500, I truly believe it is a great product.

Mind you I've gone through 4 of them as one was DOA, and the next 2 had motor/fan issues.

Overall I've enjoyed all three and can honestly say the T500 is worth the extra price for me (yes I'd like to see it perhaps $100 - $150 lower), whether it's worth the extra $ is up to you.

My original Amazon purchased T500 now has an issue with the right shifter intermittently not working or shifting multiple times. Seems like just a loose connection. In e-mails with support now. 👎 Love the wheel, just wish their build quality was better on these for the price.

Wow, thanks a lot for the information.
I've been using a G25 for quite sometime now & have been putting off upgrading it just incase something amazing came out & the fact I didn't really have much time to play but I've recently got the chance to play GT5 a lot more so I can justify spending the money to upgrade to the T500RS.

I have heard/read quite a few people having problems with the T500RS but it has a 2 year warranty for any issues so thats not really a problem more of an annoyance if anything is defective.

I just hope I can hard mount it to my rig, may have to get drilling but hopefully that should be fine. Oh & I hope the rumours of an upcoming H-shifter is true, seems silly to have a clutch pedal with paddle shifters.

Again thanks for the information, its been helpful.

By changing the t500rs G27, once I was able to improve their driving records that I had G27. But it bothers me, instead of chewing the skin. It should change if you prefer wrc (knocks on the G27), or you have enough money. By changing the g25 on the G27 I was sure I did that well. Now jestetm not so sure, but I have a T500 just 2 days. T500 comes harder than G27, it requires a strong position. Has better FFB but there are places where I knew that going G27 wheel broke away from the earth and the t500rs somehow I feel it is much smaller. Graters sinus feel much better than the G27. Sorry for my English use a translator;-)

Are you in a while navigating through the menus GT5, controls very gently vibrates at a time. I sense it's just holding hands on the wheel.

Mhm the game also crashes in quick race when I select Silverstone GP. All other Silverstone circuits are working good but the gp not :(

Hm, I dont have a Silverstone GP available too me in my Quick menu. Just the normal Silverstone circuit which worked. Just barely unlocked A just now so will probably be a little while longer for me to get there
