Well I was just about to place an order for Thrustmaster but these stories are scaring me off. I am thinking it might be safer to order G27 instead which is more reliable?

I have a G25, had for ages and it has seem some use and it stills goes strong. However I have heard of them having issues if you run 10 Force Feed Back and then go drifting alot with that setting...but I highly recommend, its a great wheel, cheaper, HIGHLY customizable and Logitech support for them has been great. Also the Shifter unit comes with, it won't cost you extra.;)👍
Check out Chilicokes Video's on Youtube, details alot about customization and the Logitech wheels in general.

I am thinking if I do decide to buy this wheel then maybe the extended 3 years warranty from squaretrade might be worth it?

I was thinking of doing the same thing when I got mine, but if you get the warranty, it's only LIKE getting an additional 1 year because the 3 year warranty of squaretrade begin on the purchase date. Since TM's warranty is 2 years, that's only 1 more year (but please correct me if I'm wrong). This was the reason why I didn't get the 3 year warranty, and people were saying good stuff about TM customer support. But right now, well it depends on you...

going on 5 months of owning the T500 and its feeling better each day. soooo smooth and its taken a beating from friends. I highly recommend splurging on it.
I'd really like a shifter now. =/ Though I can live without it I suppose.

T500RS is selling on tigerdirect and their warranty information page says 12 months part and 12 months labor. Can someone verify whether its 1 year or 2 years warranty for the T500RS?

Also, squaretrade takes care of shipping costs (2 day shipping) both ways and they have a fast turn-around time or they will refund the full amount.

Oh yeah... LOL my bad. Yup 12 months labor 12 months parts... So maybe the 3 year warranty isn't so bad :)

MuRRe when is your review of the T500 coming mate ?

Sorry, I haven't had the time to play too much.
I will start one soon.
Please though, it won't be a review as much as my thoughts.
I don't feel I have enough experience with wheel to say that much about how it performs compared to other products.

No probs mate. Be interesting to get your thoughts as basically you jumped in the deep end lol.

I wouldn't even bother contacting TM, just send it back to the supplier, thats what I do with my faulty kit, never had any trouble getting refunds or replacements.

I do plan to give them a call tomorrow to see.. Won't know if I dont ask, but my guess is they won't want to help after 5 months.

So I made a call to the retailer this morning, they will replace the wheel, no questions asked. It's being collected tomorrow, and a replacement will be sent as soon as they are back in stock. :) 👍

I ordered my wheel from Best Buy. Best Buy would not sell an extended warranty for the T500rs, I tried. Thrustmaster has a 1 year warranty.

Guys, my T500rs twitches a little when in GT5 menus.

That's normal btw --it's a bloody shame Polydigital cant be bothered to fix that bug. I would think it would be a simple fix. Then again, there's other features in GT5 I'd much rather have rather than that bug. It's like a 2/10 on my high priority list.

3 year extended warranty for T500 from squaretrade cost me $59. Normally they are $89 but they have 30% off coupon out today (SUMMER).

Squaretrade has a very good reputation. They offer 2 day free shipping both ways and have a fast turnaround time for repairs or else they refund for the full purchase price

$520 for wheel + $59 for three year warranty = peace of mind = done deal

Hey!
Î just have to ask.
The guys over at ISR says that it's so smooth.
I can feel this small "bumps" when turning the wheel.
hard to explain

I think that is the toothed belt you can feel when turning.. Maybe?

Yeah, probably.
Anyone else feeling this?

When you say turning, do you mean while actually driving? Or just in the menu or what?

On a side note, TNT guy just picked up my faulty T500.. Good service from the retailer.. not so much from TM. :yuck:

yeah, also while driving.
Like instead of being totally smooth, there are small notches,¨

What was wrong with your wheel¨?

I think that is normal, the slight nothchy feeling.. IIRC mine was the same.. My fan went a bit mental and sounded like it was rubbing on something inside the case. :ouch:

Don't understand, are you saying it's hould be totally smoth?

I don't know to be totally honest with you.

When this wheel first hit people were praising how smooth and sensitive the wheel is.

I was surprised it's notchy that's all. Remember I dont own one.

Smooth in most FFB wheels is relative. Compared to Logitech wheels, none of which are belt driven (but instead are gear driven), the T500RS is much smoother. The same goes for Fanatec's belt drive FFB wheels. But put the T500RS and the 911 GT2 against a Frex Simwheel (which is neither belt nor gear driven although if you look at its internal, it looks like a long and thick helical drill bit), none will feel as smooth as the Frex.

But here's a finding by ARC_Team on the T500RS innard (ARC is an Italian company that do modification to G25 wheels and is looking into doing the same to the T500RS):

"The transmission between the electric engine and the steering wheel column is realized using a dual reduction, with toothed pulleys, as seen in the following images. There is a small sprocket on the motor, connected to a big pulley with the first toothed belt. This pulley is coaxial to another small sprocket, linked to the second big pulley (that is part of the steering column) with another, wider toothed belt, achieving a big transmission ratio."

Obviously to help friction, a toothed pulley and corresponding toothed belt are used. This could explain the reason for why you're feeling the small bumps. Obviously I'm a bit redundant but here's the rest of the finding (by ARC_Team): http://www.f1driving.it/ENG_T500RS_tech_report.pdf

Looooooooong shot, anyone in the Lund/Malmö area that got this wheel, would love to confirm if mine is working as intended.
