That started happening to me for a short while at Silverstone & occasionally at the 'Ring too. I uninstalled & reinstalled the game & it fixed it.

If you do that you should make sure you have your game save backed up.
It also means reinstalling the updates which some people in India seem to have trouble with due to poor Internet connection. So you might choose not to do it if that's a concern.

I think damage to disc could be another possible cause?

Installing all the updates was a huge pain. I really don't want to go though it again.

I bought my disk in December '13 and it has a couple of scratches, so its possible. I will buy a brand new one and try it 👍

I haven't found an authorative answer anywhere but a look around suggests that some people have solved the problem with a reinstall & some with a different/new disc.

The other thing, which I didn't think of straight away, is try cleaning the disc. It seems some people have had success that way too. Obviously you'll need to follow the recommended procedure (Google will have the answer for how to do that) for cleaning a Blu-ray to avoid any further damage. It could save you some cash if that works.

I wonder if cleaning the lens in your PS3's disc drive could help too? Or cleaning the inside of the PS3 as a whole?
Again, I'd say Google that one, unless you already know the do's & don't's.

I cleaned the disk properly but that didn't seem to work. I have ordered a new disk, it should arrive by tomorrow. If that doesn't work too, I will clean my PS3.

So my new copy of GT6 arrived and I gave it a go. Thankfully it has worked! There is no more flickering and frame rate drops at Silverstone now. I can finally enjoy the track properly.

Having not raced for a while, I returned to GTplanet for inspiration and community.
