I like to drive Aston also in some race

You'll have to come last a few times the Jammy ;) because the idea is for the faster drivers to use the slower cars and visa versa, to keep things tight.

Just nipping off to have a few minutes practice đź‘Ť

Cheers, Zo.

I have one idea.

Why don't you ask the top-3 guys to use the penalty car like we do at Sick Cylinder's AMOC 80?

That's effectively what we're doing Harsk. Aaroh and I are leading the championship, so we're using the Maserati, which is slower than the Camaro. The chaps who scored less well last week are in the Aston, which is quicker than the Camaro.

Cheers, Zo.

Zo, I'm 3rd in the series, but do I still have to use the Camaro?

You and Jammy are tied on third, which would mean that if you both used the Maserati there would be four Maseratis, outnumbering the Camaros if those who couldn't make it last week had to miss this week for any reason.

In view of the fact that I'd said in the opening post that the proportion of cars would be rounded up in favour of the fast ones I felt that it was only fair to let you and Jammy use the Camaro. If either of you want to use the Maserati then that's fine by me :)

Cheers, Zo.

Well, because I was 2nd in Silverstone Race 2, then you and I have to use the Maserati. Jammy was 3rd, therefore, he can use the Camaro.

I agree that he can use the Camaro, and the reason he can use it is because to do so fits with the regulations of the championship. He could, though, use the Maserati if he wanted, because it's not as quick as the Camaro. It is the overall performance across all of the races which counts, not just the previous race.

Cheers, Zo.

Do we still go with rules in post #2? If yes then I'll use Camaro in both races, but I liked this idea by Mr Gear...
Or maybe like last week, only use either the Aston or Maserati in the 1st race. The 2nd on results of 1st.

We can do 1st race with Aston.

CHAMPIONSHIP STANDINGS (and car allocation for next meeting) AFTER 2 RACES.

1/ Zolon (That's gonna change!) 32 points: Maserati

2/ Aaroh-31 points: Maserati
3/ Jammy/Harsk-29 points: Camaro
5/ Qken-22 points: Camaro
6/ Tarn-20 points: Aston
7/ Paul-19 points: Aston
8/ Russ-16 points: Aston
9/ Jordie-7 points (1 race): Aston

Fellas, the handicap system is already in play so, as per the post above, I (for instance) am currently in first, so I have the Maserati for the next race, Tarn is sixth and is allocated the Aston, Qken is fifth and has the Camaro. The allocations are part of the championship and are made in order to keep the racing close.

Jammy, we'll have an Aston race some time soon, I promise, so you can get your hands on it đź‘Ť

Cheers, Zo.

IMHO there are three whishes: faster drivers want to use the faster cars too (variety), handicap system shouldn't be given up, and handicap should be more flexible, maybe changed every race.
Right now the car is assigned based on championship points, pro is handicap enforced and keeping a tight championship, cons is racers might be tied to one car.
We could do car assignment based on last race alone, pro is more car variety for everyone and mishaps in one race can be easily made up for in the next race, but it's a bit more unfair as mishaps of the faster racers get them an instant ticket to the fast cars.
A third option might be to introduce more cars, so that the handicap can be enforced every race, but we drive different cars every race -- yeah, you might have noticed i do a lot of shuffle races were this line of thinking is brought to the extremes.
So my proposal would be to add the Nissan GT-R '07 and the Mercedes Benz SLS AMG '10 and then select 3 out of those 5: For example we could give the Aston to the fastest third (that use the Maserati right now) and the middle third would then get the GT-R and the slowest third the SLS.
We tested the GT-R and the SLS in the Shuffle club and they are just about 1.5-2.0 sec between them and between the GT-R and the V12 Vantage so they are comparable handicapwise to the three cars used now.
It's just a thought, what would be most important to me is that we don't water down the handicap system as i think it's making this series fun and exciting.

It's a good idea Tarn, I'll take a look after this week's meeting. I'll leave things as they are for tomorrow, but we'll have a serious crack at setting up a variation for Willow Springs. Have no fear about the handicap being watered down, I've been wanting to run something like this for ages, and until I get everyone crossing the line within 0.1sec I won't give up on it:)

Cheers, Zo.

This looks fun! Too bad I've missed the first race. Do you mind me to join? I am just an average driver, trying to be clean and have fun.

I would drive stock Camaro, SH, oil change tomorrow right?

Do you mind me to join?

You are very welcome to join us Gerber. You are correct about the car, but you might need the Maserati S '08 or Aston Martin V12 Vantage '10 too, also with oil change, for the second race, depending on your position in the first.

The racing takes place in the club lobby of Racers Reunited, our club number is 1001609.

See you tomorrow, cheers, Zo.

Well since everyone else is putting suggestions forward...

I suppose we should see how it pans out after a few races really. In theory, with a bit of practice and barring any mishaps, Russ and me in the Aston's should be at the front - or somewhere near. So therefore we could be in the Maserati or Camaro next week/race. Someone in the Maserati this week could be in the Camaro or Aston next.

It may work out quite well. The only problem is the faster drivers may not get to use the Aston, only switching maybe between the two slower cars - but I suppose that's what Zo was trying to achieve. And although the Aston is faster it may not suit every circuit.

One thing you could do is instead of running qualifying you could perhaps have a manual grid (like Tarnheld's Zero Cup) putting the slower cars to the front. That way those in the Maserati won't be penalised further by being at the back.

This looks fun!
Hi Michael, good to see you. đź‘Ť

Yes I gave the track a try yesterday. By the way, just to make sure - stock car means we do not touch any of the settings at all right? And is there any penalty, time progression?

That's correct - no tuning allowed. Just an oil change is permitted (for the extra power). Please note though that fitting of wings and larger wheels also counts as being tuned so you'd be unable to enter the track if fitted.

You can adjust the brake balence if you want.

And is there any penalty, time progression?
I think the penalties are set to light (or maybe even off). The time is left to Zolon - it won't be very dark though.

:)

Paul's right Gerber, it will be very bright indeed, with time progression at 1. But us super-clean guys at RR don't need penalties. However, I will be running light damage, so if people get too ambitious and clatter into a barrier there will be a minor price to pay :mischievous:

Cheers, Zo.

Edit, I'd just like to say chaps, judging by the most recent posts on this thread, those of us still on GT6 are doing alright.........

Hey Zo, I don't think I'll be able to make it tonight. My internet is very slow, I can't even log into psn. If my internet is better by race time, I'll join you guys. đź‘Ť

EDIT: Lol just as I posted this message I logged into psn. Still not able to download the track though. :(

I was having troubles last night Aaroh, it logged me out a couple of times. Seems OK today - at the moment anyway.

I will have to prepare my Maserati,
A wash and polish. Don't forget to clean the wheels. :P

After some quick testing this afternoon with Zo and Aaroh in their Maseratis - I couldn't match their times in my Aston! I suppose I was close though so we'll see how it pans out in the race. It's a big car to chuck about (and pass).
