So is it Japan or Florida? Do you bounce back and forth between the two?

My real home is in Florida. (Why I also put it in Paren's) My g/f is staying there right now, while I am stationed in Japan for the Military. In 2006, I will be retireing after 20 yrs of service, and returning home to Florida.

With that said, in June I will be taking a little over a week and heading home, so will be 2 WRS weeks that I will have very little chance to race, but I will try.

I have you moving from 41 to 26, although this is unconfirmed and I'm still working on the board (I also want to make sure that the results become 'official', because typically one or two drivers get mis-placed and it ends up as more work for me). I'll have it finished towards the end of the work day, probably.

And a damned fine win, btw ... any chance of you posting a replay? (if your NTSC) ... I'd love to see it.

I will post one the old school way with my digital camera because I don't have a Max drive. (I am getting a new computer soon though).

Wait until you see the first turn. :)

My first win and only my secon WRS race. Ahhhhh Yeah!

Old school way is fine by me ... I can watch it on my computer without mucking about with the PS2 and stuff.

Board has been updated.

With 4 guys being promoted last week, there has been a big shuffle at the top and *cough*on a more personal note*cough* I finally leap-frogged LMM ... sorry dude :P

Yeah, I bet your sorry :odd:

Congrats to Steve57, mkay, and Kolyana for hitting top 3 in the standings. Gotta point out that 3 of the top 10 and 4 of the top 20 division 3 drivers are Oregonians! Yeeha!

@Nat ~ Ok I am waiting till the day before to update drivers list, 92 drivers now.
Wow, 92 drivers! I assume that's just D3, or is that all of WRS? That would be a neat field to see driving down the front straight of any raceway for the start.

I was looking at the leaderboard (trying by mental telepathy to move my name higher - didn't work, guess I'll have to do it on the race track) and wondering if there's a good way to determine who's really active. I know you've got the number of starts column, and that's good. I imagine my query is primarily an early on in the game question, though. Those drivers that continue to be active will be those toward the top. Inactive drivers will eventually settle to the bottom.

*looks at own name* I moved up?? You sure there's not an error in there? I mean, I'm not complaining but I'm an honest wolf I am. Or as I'm known by some, a "fuzzball". *glares at Kolyana* I remember a certain blonde haired kid who used to say that to some folks....

Well Fuzzball, last week you were 39th, this week you're 32nd ... so you've just moved up quite a few places there. Remember, a few drivers don't race, so they drop positions as you gain points. I mean, I won't say anything about your speed being somewhat akin to an old rabid dog with a dodgy ticker and three legs, I'll let you figure that out for yourself.

:P

I thought points were only given to the top 20. I placed outside of that this week. *shrugs*

AND STOP MAKING FUN OF ME! *feeling like Calvin, more so as Calvin could never come up with any insult or remark quite as good as Hobbes*

Edit: I should probably mention I DID have a dodgy heart a year ago when I was sixteen. Quite strange and very sudden. :nervous: Fortunately it is now fixed.

HA! I love Calvin & Hobbes. I should probably get myself an avatar of Susie, but C&H are way cooler :P

Now you are CORRECT in your assumption of points only being handed out to the top twenty drivers, but that's for the official WRS leaderboard - an overall leaderboard dedicated to the entire WRS and all 3 divisions.

What Teledriel and I noticed about that is that it ignores the 20 or so drivers we've got here in Division 3 that don't score top 20 slots ... and that's not because they're not fast, but simply because we have so many drivers here!

So we made an unofficial leaderboard that tracks how we're doing ONLY in our own division ... and everyone who races scores points, which makes it worth while racing even if you can't make a mark on the WRS Leaderboard.

That value was Diviosn 3 ALONE. IF you look at the Qualification list that CFM has, he lists the number of drivers at the top of the Division list, then at the bottom puts total....

Like yesterday when i looked for our leaderboard, there are 202 Drivers registered to race WRS!!!!!!!!!!!!

@RWR ~ Nat summed it up quite well. There is our leaderboard, and then there is the "Offical" leaderboard that Cyrill does. But with 50ish drivers that run each week, this helps promote better compitition in Nat's and my mind.

Ah, that would explain it. I would agree with it aiding the competition what with 90 some odd drivers. Seems I need to pay a bit more attention to "unofficial" lol

I've read nearly all of the Calvin And Hobbes comics, there was only one book I could never get my hands on. I can't quite remember the name, but I think it was in one of the many anthologies anyway. Boy, oh, boy were thost good times! :)

Yeah, I own them all save the very last one he released :( I'm probably going to rectify that one day.

I think this week could easily tip D3 towards the 100 driver mark ... but the sudden influx will be- I suspect - a one race wonder.

Is there any way we/you could determine who to cut from the WRS div 3 boards? I think some sort of guideline/syllabus for such a thing should be suggested to CFM for lame drivers. Lame as in inactive.

I am sure that as time goes by, espcially when we start getting the best 6 of 8, that alot of drivers will drop off the boards. Some people will run the WRS also until they feel they have finished GT4 enough and then move on to a different game.

Then there are the hardcore ones here, that no matter what we are playing, will always find a time slot to run a few laps, to enjoy a fun OLR and give diversity to our lives let alone keep the friendships we have gain.

Even if you look at the standings now in Div 3, we had @90 drivers week 5, 35 of those have never turned in a lap time at all. (Which is why they are not on the leaderboard at all) Some been able to do a week or two, and all we can do is see if they come back. Now, take Blackbird for instance, he raced, but cause of school, (As alot of people are doing this time of year) exams took precedence over WRS. Now he is back. Once the summer starts, guess we will see how the grid looks each week.

If you stay active, you will keep track in your mind who is a constistant compeditor, and always try to "chase" them.... Like Nat and I.. sigh I am 0-5 against her.... one qucik cookie there...

YAY!

I'm getting quicker this week, too ... although some of these times that guys are turning in are CRAZAY!

CRAZAY is the right word, makes me shake my head in awe. Still waiting for my replacement DFP :grumpy:, so I'm back to using the rattle box DF wheel this week of all weeks, just my luck. Those guys getting fast times with a DS2 must have thumbs of steel. Just out of curiosity how many laps are we getting in before you need a break, I'm finding if i do like a couple of clean laps by the third one the itensity just gets too much :scared: and i'm almost willing myself to stuff up so i can stop and have a rest and just let the ghost drive off into the distance  .
This is a :censored:load harder than i thought it would be, and seems knowing what corners are next to arrive, doesnt translate into a fast time, its definatley how they are strung together that gives results.
Well keep at it folks, its fun , isn't it ?

Steve

I'm pushing too hard tonight ... I may get in 6 failed laps and maybe 1 clean one, before I have to walk away for a second ... do some washing, make a cup of tea, post here ... ANYTHING but hit that damn restart ...

And in the space of that post and this, I've just had maybe another 8 wipe outs and two DAMN GOOD laps ruined ,,, I afraid, Teledriel, that when you get on the track you're going to find it covered in my wreckage.

Oh, and somewhere distant you can see me ... bright pink helmet being thrown into the trees ... screaming at the heavens ... and ... yes ... smoke coming from my ears.

Sounds like everyone is pushing to hard now. I played for 2 hours last night and managed only 1 clean lap. And it was only ever so slightly faster. By .700 to be exact.

I had a very good run. Here were those splits:
T2 1:06.179
T4 2:14.063
T7 3:55.4xx
T9 4:49.xxx

I wanted to know what my split was at T9. BIG MISTAKE. Never take your eyes off the road. I wrecked immediately after looking at my T9. So if you saw someone sitting on the course at T9, that was me pulling my hair out.

I can't believe that the fast guys not only know all 70 corners and EXACTLY how to take them - thus ending up 15 seconds faster than us - but they take them without coming off the damned track!
