The "war on police" in America

Shooting in Baton Rouge. 7 officers shot, 3 dead.

From what I'm reading it looks like the shooting was going on prior to the police showing up, so hopefully this wasn't another calculated attack on officers like in Dallas. I don't know much about the Baton Rouge area, but I would guess it was gang related in some way given what the witnesses are saying.

Whatever the case is though, I can't wait to see what stupid comments the Black Lives Matter supporters put out on Twitter about how thankful they are officers were gunned down because apparently this is what society has come too.

Source? Because FOX is reporting that it was an ambush style attack.

WAFB, news agency in Baton Rouge.

article
“I walked out into the street to see what was going on, there was a man lying in the street," the witness said. "I assume he was dead because he wasn’t moving."

The witness tells us the shooting started before police arrived.

“This was not a come at police shooting," the witness said. "There were men out here shooting at each other before police ever got here.”

Police believe that there are snipers involved, and FOX is reporting that one suspect is dead and police are looking for two more.

What are people's thoughts, hypothetically, about ALL law enforcement officers dressing in civilian clothing.....

What are people's thoughts about police officers either staying home from work or not leaving the precinct station except in large numbers of armored cars? 'Cuz that's what's going to happen if assassinating policemen becomes a trend. Don't get me wrong - the police have been too trigger happy for too long. But this is not the way to deal with it. Obama needs to get his act together, and fast. Clinton, too. These are the highest politicians who have any kind of buy-in from blacks. And even here I suspect it is thin enough.

Agreed. I thought this "killing cops for fun as revenge" was a fad. Apparently people are too stupid to realize that they won't cause their own deaths. Maybe the media can never release the names and instead call the shooters just fortunate to be the bane of society?

A bizarre tweet from a Texan politician is getting coverage here; aside from asking for "prayers" (which seems to be standard in these cases) he also asks people to stop talking about it. One theory is that he might have meant to punctuate his sentence but, given that he's talking about prayer when people have actually died, he could just be a nutjob.

What's wrong with praying for them? Just because you're not religious does not mean to need to belittle those who are.

I read that as say "no more", not "say no more" meaning these cop killings have got to stop.

Religious debating BS that way -->

The governor asked for prayers, it's standard and while he may be a nut job I don't think that tweet really says one way or the other.

http://www.cnn.com/2016/07/17/us/baton-route-police-shooting/index.html

CNN is calling it an ambush, multiple shooters, looking for someone possibly wearing fatigues, all black, mask, carrying guns etc.

Man, I was hoping the earlier reports were right and this was a gang shootout that had unfortunate consequences. Although we don't have all the information yet, it does appear at this time that it's an attack on the police, hopefully they uncover more of what's going on in the coming hours.

I also found this to be rather interesting. I know people don't really like The Guardian, but they link sources in every flyout they have on their site. Essentially of the 591 people killed by police in 2016, 293 were white and 146 were black. So I am a little skeptical when all these people are saying there's an epidemic of police killing blacks in the US. To put this in perspective you're more likely to die falling out of bed if you're black then by police (average 450 bed falling deaths annually).

I don't see how you at all got don't talk anymore about it from, "stand up and unite to put a stop to this with 'no more' allowing of this needless violence". Also the prayer part, you messing up the interpretation, equals him potentially being a nutjob? I take it since he's a Texan governor that plays into it? You're quite a bit more intelligent than that, a public official just saw his state marred with this BS and is supporting another state being dealt a blow in the same way, and is asking to unite...

But you see something complete opposite.

Also it's standard in our country, for officials on both sides of party lines, crazy or not to ask for say no more. Or "say, no more!" as in, we rational people seeing this need to stand up and not condone these actions or similar.

I haven't heard anything about that group in a really long time, I thought they died out. I know one of the guys involved in the Oklahoma City Bombing was part of their group, but past that I only really know they believe in some kind of anarchy I think.

I'll be curious to see what inspired Gavin Long, who has been reported as a black male. If it is the Black Lives Matter cause then this is just another blow to their credibility. I'll be curious to see who else they arrest in connection with this and what their statements are.

I guess it hasn't been 100% confirmed yet. There are also sources saying he was a member of the Nation of Islam. However, looking at his YouTube channel, which is under a pseudonym Cosmo Ausar Setepenra, he says he's not affiliate with anyone. His videos also talk about how he's oppressed by police and uses racial slurs against whites. Given that evidence, I'm guessing he's retaliating over the police shootings was his motive.

The look on his face makes it plainly obvious he doesn't care. His whole delivery has this limp defeated character to it.
He does appear rather distinerested but it might just be that he's getting tired of making the same speeches over and over and over after each of these acts of senseless violence.

Do they? I thought sovereign citizens just believe they are not bound by any laws of the US & can do whatever they want or wish, often quoting old laws or misinterpreting laws for their own benefit. Basically, some nut jobs.

He's out the door, and has "done plenty" in the 7 and half years prior, that he doesn't have to do anything last minute to make himself look any better than the numbers claim he does. Point is the black people that think this is a good cause even indirectly, and those of other causes like all lives matter, don't see him as their messiah anyways so what does he have to care about, he's tried to change their approach in some degree and they don't care.

Sad really, that this is probably going be a "it's the next person's problem", by the looks of things. He's just playing mediator.

This could be it too, and he's just done with it all because there isn't anything he can do. And a bit of what I also said in the other part of this post. It's a sad state of affairs all around really.
