20 Tracks in GT5? Stop that... this will never happen, why do you even think about that?

Even though 20 tracks are enough I think we get over 60 or 80 Tracks

I don't think so, but it's possible. forwards, backwards, sidecut and extra loop.

Okay, your right. That sounds crazy

LOL yes it does! Or they must use all configs of Suzuka, and add reverse to all those configurations! then you have layouts for 1 track. :dopey:

I hope, correction I know, what Amar says is true. :)

60 variations other than the original makes 80 tracks.....

But I agree with you, change 1 turn and call it a new track is stupid. most racing games do it that way.
It's not stupid, it's a new track, as in, different from the previous one. So, yeah, it's new.

Amar claims eight dozen tracks...

20 tracks with 60 variations is 60 tracks of course(doh!)

This is true. It's fun because no one thought of it so far, seemingly. Let's wait until info is released, or even better, when the game is released. Only then everything will be facts.

Just remember, you can't add courses (tracks) to layouts. Layouts are a sub-category (configuration) of a course, example Daytona Speedway has to layouts, Oval & Road Course, all courses have a least one layout, but if you add courses to layouts you would be adding up some of the layouts twice. :)

And also don't forget that most real tracks will not allow for going backwards - they won't allow it in the licence.

Which is a bad thing, because I've done some good amounts of laps on Suzuka reverse, and it's a whole other track. So much better than the original IMO

Just drive the wrong way. Sure you wont get your lap times, but it could still be fun, especially learning the lines going backwards.

The driving backwards idea would be great if we could have truely custom races. Everyone manual lines up on the grid backwards, a gtplanet member then joins race as spectator, keeps track of poisition manually.

Actually you could still tell your position. 8th, 12th, 16th, etc. would be first because you are the farthest away from the actual finish line, then 1st would be last, because you are closest. Somebody would just have to keep track of laps.

Personally i've never classed a variation as a track. These variations are called ribbons rather than tracks.

I would be surprised if GT5 is released with 20 actual tracks although I suppose PD could be holding others these back for DLC at a later date. Unless that damn PSP version has prevented PD producing more tracks!!

Turn 10 has been claiming Forza 3 will have 100+ tracks but it's all variations. So far the game only has 19 confirmed tracks (some with 6 - 8 courses), with one or two more yet to be revealed. I suppose that makes it much more likely that GT5 will have a similar amount of actual tracks.

Well, some people use the racing slang "ribbons," but even many racers don't use the term because it sounds cute. In fact, many people quit using the term because Dan Greenawalt drove it into the ground for F2. I bet if there's an F4, he'll have to coin another term than "definitive" to drive into our foreheads like a nail. :P

As Tapey says, the universal term is "course" for a track layout, and sounds much cooler. Uhm... you aren't bringing up that sad "20 track" thing again, are you...

We can one up them with GT4 even. How many cars did GT4 have in total? By "total" I mean including each color a car is available in ;)

That's just wrong. I hate it when a track has many variations (oval + road, sometimes reverse are acceptable. Okay, I like the Fuji variants too.), the need to refresh your memory on when the track goes this time is so annoying, that I pretty much always race on the longest course, no matter what car it is. The historical versions are nice and fine, cause they're just slightly changed, but the main flow stays the same. The shortened ones are just annoying, that's why I next to never use Suzuka East in Prologue.

Errr... I doubt that's even close to a comparison. Color didn't changed anything about the car, except... color. 💡 Variations however actually have an impact in how the game is played.

Or was your comment sarcastic? :banghead:

Errr, tell that to a car dealer or an auto manufacturer. It's in response to Turn10's 6 variations on a single track adding to the overall track count. I do wonder, though, how many cars in total GT4 has. Yes, that obviously includes the colors. There is a finite number and I'm curious what it is. It would be the ultimate garage.

If you included every colour variation you would get well in excess of 5000 cars. Think about all the colour variations on all the old American muscle cars like the Plymouth, there's like 25 colours to choose from. Same with Benz and BMW, heaps of different colours.

Third tale says that for the first time ever skypaths will not be just solid and already known but that new skypaths will be built by birdtamers from the parts of existing skypaths.

Maybe this means that we could define our own "Event Races". Meaning that we choose a time limit (i.e. 4h endurance race) and/or a set distance (i.e. 250miles). Then we set the difficulty levels and GT5 will calculate the prize money based on these factors.

I konw it might sound stupid, but who knows?

"As for the rumors regarding possible track creation, Kazunori noted that "[Polyphony Digital] hasn't really thought about it." So it sounds like track creation for Gran Turismo 5 was just a rumor after all." Source: http://au.ps3.ign.com/articles/101/1015547p1.html

So that means that the third tale isn't about a track editor. Then what could it be?

Guess we will find about in 10 days or so at TGS!

There's a Race Event generator in GT2, so no, the idea isn't silly, and we've been thinking this is part of the offline as well as online event builder.

Doesn't sound stupid at all, especially since that is what it appears to be like in GT PSP.

Edit: Not to mention there was a race creator in GT4 although it wasn't really customizable.(I think it was called family cup)
