Shift still seems to have the arcade look to it, I know that it is supposed to drive like a sim, but when they have stuff where you get more points or something for being a constantly aggressive driver while bumping into everyone. I don't know maybe I'm wrong but I think there is still a big difference between GT5/Forza 3 and NFS shift.

Shift can come back and compete as soon as it has weather effects, tire wear, fuel loss, and pitstops.. (all have been confirmed NOT to be in shift) otherwise that's not really competition but a racer for the arcade crowd a la GRID, DIRT and PGR.

I have no problem waiting on GT5 anymore. It's kinda like a legend now, that may or may not happen. With forza 3 looking as good as it does, I won't need GT5 until later next year. I imagine I'll get a good year out of forza 3. So let PD take as long as they want. With forza 3, Ncaa football, the new madden online franchise, socom, and the ufc game. I'm really not in a hurry at all anymore. If GT5 happens it happens, but I'm certainly not holding my breath anymore, and I'm not going to try and guess what features they will implement. I'm sure it's going to be a great game, and I'm sure it will come later then we think. Maybe christmas time next year. I hope not, but that's what will probably happen.

Something tells me you'll be playing Madden, NCAA, and UFC on the inferior console...

Shift's cockpit cam does look more realistic than GT5P at the current state.

If you look at the Nissan GT-R video from Shift...the multifunction meter actually looks clearer and more refined than in P. Although we don't know if GT5 will have any substantial graphical improvement...but even it doesn't, the features that are now virtually confirmed to be included in GT5 far surpass anything Forza or Shift will offer.

For a start, GT5 will have at least Pirelli, Goodyear and Potenza tyres included judging from the trailer...I've seen no videos from FM3 or NFS:S that confirm branded tyres. Now sure, that maybe a little thing, but I bet that the lots of "little things" GT5 will have will add up to a huge thing come release.

Then we got teasers that GT5 Prologue was in development, and for many months we got squat on it. And we complained. And then we got a new trailer which excited us... especially when a certain red car with a horse logo appeared at the end. Oh man, did we go crazy.

That red car with a horse logo happened for GT HD, old news by the time Prologue came :)

Yikes... I need to work on that long term memory. :P

Nekked... Tenatious D... It Fits. Liked the post!
I do have my Jack Black moments. ;) Mostly because summer and I just don't get along.

I know there's a growing number of people here who are happy to wait on the "definitive" racing game, and others who can't wait to Shift, but frankly, I'm more interested in ModNation Racers and Ratchet & Clank than either of those. I have FM2 and it's nice, but way down from great because of all the flaws. Besides, I have Ferrari Challenge which is FM2 on the PS3 with 16 cars on track, and I got sick of the Froza overteering issues, which especially bite in the rain. Shift looks way too much like GRID, which I dislike quite a bit. Maybe a demo would sway me, but without one on PS3, I doubt I'd take a chance on it. FM3... I'll probably end up buying it, but I just don't care much because Ms seems to really let you down where it counts, in the feel and flavor of their games, and reliability of their hardware.

I really want GT5. I want those HD cars on those HD tracks with those features of the cars apparent in HD detail, and perhaps damage so real it could cut you. Even owning some of the best PC sims around, I prefer Prologue. And it makes me hungrier than ever for the real feast.

I know Kaz and the lads are hot on getting GT Mobile done, but when it is, I want them getting GT5 ready for release. And look, just to remind you guys who think Kazunori is laughing at you, he always intended GT Mobile to come after GT5 was in our hands. This wasn't a Polyphony decision, this was a SONY decision, so you're barking at the wrong persons here. Hate on those on the board at SONY Japan who think PSP is a goldmine.

One thing you can be happy about is the lack of Prologue updates. If we get one, it will mean GT5 is going to be late, but that still suits me fine. It will mean a nice addition to Prologue, and an even better GT5.

Oh, well then that was Prologue spec II. :P
 No, it was a brain fot on my part to be sure.

I know I dog on Forza a lot on these boards, but I really, really, REALLY don't like monopolies that treat their customers like crap. And not only that, like brain dead crap. Producing hardware, lots of hardware with an atrocious failure rate, both consoles and peripherals. Games like Forza with really bad flaws and lying about what will be in the game. So along comes the true sequel to FM1, and what do they do? Act like Greek gods and talk down to those who don't worship it and them, or even ridicule them. Us. Me. Oh well, meh on them.

It is disappointing not knowing what's going on inside that huge concrete cube housing the wizards of the Polyphony Digital crew. But what's even more disappointing is reading a post from someone here who gets a blurb from some anonymous joker who knows some upsetting secret about GT5 because... well, he basically says so, and then goes on a rant here. Or another looks at screengrabs or videos of another game, and one day loses it. "F' Kazunori and SONY! I'm now an Ms fanboy!" I know GT5 is just a game and all, but when you come here to see what the guys are yucking it up about and read stuff like that, it's kind of like getting a beer in the face.

While I can shrug it off after a while, I do hope that someone in Polyphony and SONY are aware that, once again, the natives are getting restless...

As much as I love GT5 to get released as soon as possible, I'll have GT PSP to tide me over till then! Then again pretty surprise most of you lads here arent particularly interested on a portable Gran Turismo game.

Not for me. I will play Shift, no doubt. But I will wait patiently for GT. It'll be worth the wait.👍

Driving a Ford Escort RS Cosworth at Brands Hatch, a Porsche 911 GT3 RSR on the Nordschliefe, a Maserati MC12 at Spa, a Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 at Silverstone and a Audi R8 LMS at Road America excite's me, what's more when I drive those cars I know they're going to sound fantastic, which is an area GT often let's itself down in.

I still dont get why PD sucks on the sound effects department while having this 'attention to detail' obsession... the M3 sounds like a damn blender for cryin out loud, how can they have it so wrong?

Maybe Polyphony should drop a short 30 second trailer a week before Forza 3.

A car flying through an underground tunnel, shadowed in darkness the engine roars then the tires squeal and the car pulls to a stop, a spotlight flashes across the hood, and there it is...

The Porsche logo!

TGS is Sep 24-27 so my guess is they will drop a bombshell considering that's exactly 1 month from the release of Forza.

You know, I really think that's what is going to happen, and until then, we won't get any news at all on GT5 but only on GT Mobile.

While I really hope you guys are right, I can't help but notice there are hundreds of posts just like this leading up to every major gaming/auto conference in the few several years, follow by several *thousand* frustrated and hostile posts after from people who came to expect it and got nothing. :) Mind you E3's trailer was pretty satisfactory in my mind, although strange how they make absolutely no reference to when the game is due to arrive.

Shame PD doesn't see fit to appoint some kind of community liason like Sony does with the Playstation Blog. A nice trickle of information, or even a bombardment (car and track list kthxbye) would really settle things down and I can't imagine it'd hurt their sales or business, quite the contrary. But perhaps they know something I don't. :)

+100 👍

the game is not coming before the christmas period so im my view there is no point getting hyped more than 6 month earlier than the "possible" release date.

Yes the game is going to be great, but patience is the way, or u want to get ibernated like some kid did for the wii and end up in the future with no videogames?

Oct 8 wouldn't be a huge surprise, but I'd like to know the source. Google throws up no such announcement, the official Forza website is evidently dead - maybe they tried to patch something, and forzacentral.com still has Europe for Oct 23, America for Oct 27.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forza_3

Although wiki says October the 8th I did check a couple of other and got 3 different dates..so I can understand you being more than a little skeptical. Gamespot said the 30th(us) and play.com said the 23rd (european.) (both October) But source as requested. :)

Not sure if bringing Forza forward to the 8th its such a wise move for MS.

If PD have a GT5 blowout at TGS like we expect then it'll take a ton of hype away from FM3. This all adds to the sense that FM3 is being rushed....and you can't level that accusation at GT5. :sly:
