I hope the ridiculously overasked questions about track count is finally over.

People, YES, there will be NEWS at TGS, a LOT of news. The point of the Tokyo Game Show is to wow people with a lot of NEWS. News means, THINGS YOU DON'T KNOW - caps for the mentally challenged here. ;)

Don't even take what we know of the GamesCon demo as anything definitive. Take it as a huge hint, please. The FW3 demo is in visual damage only mode and only shows one or two tracks. It's only a hint of what's to come. The GT5 demo can have a lot of features disabled. It's a custom build, meaning a lot of content is left out. Jumping to conclusions simply means you don't know how far you have to fall.

It's only four weeks until TGS, and we'll probably get little dribs and drabs of news along the way. Just discuss things based on what we know to be true, please. I should consider myself lucky that some noob hasn't combined Prologue with the GT5 demo and exclaimed, "THAT'S IT?! OH NOESSSSS!!!!1!1!!"

They aren't going to make a big chunk of DLC because only the hardcore players normally buy it.

I'm not saying you are wrong, but do you have data/stats to back that up? Personally I love DLC, it would just work so well with GT... we are all obsessed with the number of tracks and the number of cars, why wouldn't people love being able to get more after they've bought the game?

IF I'm wrong, and there is very little DLC, then it will be the biggest missed opportunity in the world!!

Sony may use DLC as a means to make as much money as possible out of this game, even if that means releasing it unfinished and getting people to pay up for the full, finished article.

But when's it finished..

Say the game shipped with 80 tracks and 1000 cars... you could say that was finished...... but then if the following summer, PD released 2 new tracks and 30 new cars, what? you wouldn't download it?

DLC for GT would be about increasing the breadth of the game, more than the depth of the game I feel.

Well I don't think they release figures, I know that only the hardcore players bought the DLC for Forza 2, the only ones that actually did ok were the tracks. Most casual gamers aren't going to pay for more cars.

I'm not claiming I know how everything DLC works but from my experience with Forza 2 only a limited number of people buy it.

Fair enough, but Forza players don't have to wait 5 years between games! ;)

I expect to have both paid and free DLC. Free: new tracks; Paid: some "special cars", special paint job/tunning

Maybe but certainly not in that quality. I guess it comes pretty close to what you'll play at your HDZV at home.

Good stuff 👍 Hi-Def

GT5P has been pretty good with free DLC.

The initial game had 37 cars and 5 tracks (each with two versions). Free DLC has added another 39 cars - more than doubling the original game - and one track (with two versions). Not to mention upgrading other aspects of the game in the process.

If anybody again quotes that tentative wishlist of courses that have nothing to do with reality and facts I will personaly delete this whole thread

:)

What wishlist is that Amar? I hope it's not the one that lists every track that has ever been in the GT series plus the rumored real life circuits? (no I'm not trying to piss you off)

spec I had only 37 cars? Wow I never noticed since I had it . Was it the same for every version of the prologue?
One thing I noticed is the difference of graphics between gt5p spec I (Japanese) and my specII/III (eu) ..... in the early Japanese version there were no details at all (track environment, tarmac, car interiors) I know because I tried it at my friend's house a few weeks ago. So free DLC was definitely good to us.

Wouldn't a track editor be hard to implement considering the lighting in GT5 is supposedly not real time but rather pre-calculated. Wouldn't they have to calculate the lighting for every possible variation, let alone day/night cycle?

I dont think this will happen. Far to many variables to deal with. Besides, what fun is it driving on little Timmys circle of fun?

We really need a hardcore Japanese GT fan, who could understand the words and put in the correct context, and then transpose it to English. Not just translate the words.

My friend Kyosuke is a hardcore Japanese GT fan and his translation was spot-on.

There may have been a problem with the specs - either in accuracy or in the structure and wording, because he had a difficult time understanding the cars and tracks part of it - and then it was taken down a few hours later.

LOL! 👍

I couldn't agree more!

I dont think the lighting is like for example in the quake series where you have to calculate the lighting and visibility for DAYS.. depending on the way they implemented it, it could be that the lighting might take minutes to calculate like in the unreal engine........ but i still find it hard to believe that they would add a track editor

I'd forget the track editor, I really doubt that any of us could do anything remotely impressive compared to what PD could offer... I'd rather we just had masses of real world circuits - and not too many 'street' circuits... seriously of it took PD 5 years to create <20 tracks, what the hell are we going to do?

Ahoy m8ey!

I'm just wondering which list you are referring to, is it the one i posted?
Its not a wish list, but if it bothers you, ill gladly take it off and not talk about it in this thread.

Same thing we always do, try and take over the world:sly:

Interestingly, I noticed both GTM and GT5 share icons of very close resemblence.

...All your base are belong to us...

CATS: You are on the way to destruction

My nickname is amar, not amir. Thank you for writing it down properly, it has only 3 letters to remember.

To clear this for you and everybody else who does not take his time to get with the facts:

I didn't make those tracks list, nor I will ever make any list that is not based on facts.

I used official info that was revealded on PD's official site and then pulled down in order to back up one of my claims (known as winds) in initial post of this thread.

And I didn't MEANT anything, I was just talking BASED ON FACTS or NON-OFFICIAL INFO that I have.

And I really do not give a slightest damn does that "sit well with you".

Constant troling, flaming and running in circles with the same subjects over-and-over again - just because majority of members here are LAZY TO READ MORE THAN LAST 3 PAGES of ANY THREAD around here - while myself and other respected members are trying very hard to keep discussion coherenet and normal - is very annoing

Thank you in advance for taking everything above in account.

Regards,

Wow.. chill out a bit amar.. i understand the dissapointment in the forum and all, but still.

See, you present the cryptic messages as insiders info... which we all appreciate offcourse.
The point he is making is that you afterwards edited your cryptic messages with what looks like facts, as the info comes pooring in from official sources.

See.. we're all thinking, amar actually confirms in his first post that there will actually be 20 tracks, since he knew this from the beginning allready, so it must be true... that's all.

I was confused about it as well, and i have read every post and every thread..

I am not an veteran of the GT series, I jumped on the bandwaggon with GT4.But, i have really enjoyed GT4 and GT5:P, and I am looking forward to GT5.... can i just make a few points? when the first view of GT5 was shown recently and shown damage for the first time, posters on this furom was really pleased, but now a lot appear to disect every nuance and information and its strange the way the responses have been, a lot appear to be disa pointed. Also, from what I can gather the recent showing at gamescom was a demo?IMHO i think it looks great and going back to the OP I think he (or she ) has made a very accurate prediction....anyhow, the last few days have been very interesting and a lot of the postings have been good natured and informative, but a few have been a bit nasty(?)... Oh well, time for another V***a...
