"Too much is not enough!"

There is no such condition as "enough tracks".

or cars for that matter, in fact the more the better.
^ You guys followed my core values! :sly:

I'd rather have five cars and gazzillion tracks than gazzillion cars and two or three tracks. If there were more tracks in Prologue I wouldn't be so eager to get my GT5 copy when it comes out :D.
^ I'd rather have the ratio of 80% cars and 20% tracks. A gazillion tracks for only 5 cars would be a definite bore. :indiff:

I don't know who was calling for 1000 cars in GT5 a year or more ago - it seems like one of them was Vanishing Boy, but they deserve some serious kudos for being so farseeing. And for those fretting over the track count, I'd think the number of cars would be reflective of how many tracks we're going to have. Remember, everything about GT5 has so far been a big surprise... I'm expecting many more...
^ Hmm, I was looking for an article when I said that; unfortunately no luck. :(

I care most about the damn Porsche fiasco. I know the one reporter said they declined, but I still find that awkward when they already had discussions about joining. I can't see Kaz letting them slip away...again. TGS seems like a great time to divulge big information along with some new videos.

I love Porsches. I'm a 911 fan and all!

But... if they miss GT5, I'm pretty sure I wont miss them that much... As soon as you fire the game up, there are many new cars to discover, old ones to revisit and go all warm with "yeah.. that's just how I remembered it", and way to many cars in total to play with before I even recall Porsche didn't get on board. I guess I'll think about that when I own 90% of the cars and done 90% of the game.

In my book is a Stutgard loss... Maybe they'll come around and we get a Porsche DLC in the future.

I'd be happy with 50 million cars and 10 tracks if they were le sarthe (with chicanes) fuji 90s fuji 05 (with chicanes) el capitan tskuba monza and a couple fictional ones the hsr test track ssr5 and ssr11

After playing Prologue for over a year, I couldnt disagree more! I am so sick of the few tracks we have now, I will not play them for a loooong time once GT5 comes out (even if we only get 20 tracks, lol)

But that is ok, we will have a lot of cars and a lot of tracks, so we will both be happy:tup:

^You like La Sarthe with chicanes? I like it without it, it makes the 24 hr experience more exciting imo.

I like both. i use the one without for speed tests.

That is so true.:)

I agree.

One thing that Forza 2 and GT5P had in common is a lack of tracks. When racing online the amount of tracks is what prolongs the lifespan and not the amount of cars, especially as after a while you have a tendancy of picking your favourite cars.

The only exception to this will be if the leaderboards follow the same structure as GT5P. Im doubting this though because thats alot of scoreboards if thats the case.

Speaking of online thats something that I find odd in this forum. I see many threads about damage, trees and yet the online aspect of the game is rarely discussed. I find this odd especially as the online aspects of the game is one of the most important. Some will disagree but if you played FM2 then you would realise how important online play is. I wonder if some GT members are still living in the dark age!!

Agreed, with only exception for Suzuka :)

I never realized that FM2 had only 14 tracks... That comes as a late suprise for me :D

What's wrong with separate leaderboards for every car? Allows you to become a master of a ranking without being a vegetable ;).

1st of all, we all (hopefully) realize that current online aspect is crap and pretty much doesn't exist at all, so there's nothing to comment on.

2nd - what more do you need than the ability to easily race your friends online? Some stats would be nice, but personally I find excessive rankings, ratios etc. to be more of a con than a pro, since I realize even before I go online, that I'll be sitting somewhere in the bottom unless I'll devote all my time to racing online. Which is tiresome and uncool.

However I'd like too see some extended WWW support for leagues, championship etc. hosted on PD/Sony's servers, somewhat similar to the one Killzone 2 has. Creating your racing identity and scoring some trophies (as in rewards, not the PS3 trophies ;)) would be neat.

And we can't even begin to criticize PD for the thing that we haven't even seen. But if I was to guess, I'd say that we should be able to set the rules on a private room/race similar to those we see in those Prologue challenges (restricting the tires, cars, maybe assists etc.). That alone would be enough to make me happy :).

Well, the online is rather lackluster with only "Online Events" and no way to get rid of the pesky punters that plagued the races often so honestly, there isn't alot to talk about. Of course thankfully, those days will be over once the game comes out.

Not to mention some of us just aren't the online multiplayer type, regardless of how epic it might be.

The only games I would go online with are Halo 2 and 3.

Online is really fun when it comes to shooting games and such. Then again, I can't recall a time where I didn't have a grid with people that didn't punt or play car bowling.

Suzuka is a brilliant track, and yes I agree a large number of traks is very important. The cars are only interesting to drive if you're driving them on interesting roads. Ofcourse, you need a selection of both but I would say that since getting hundereds of cars in a GT game is a given, that tracks should be given a high priority. They don't all have to be real licensed tracks, just interesting tracks to drive on. But as an example I'd imagine I'd have longer lasting fun driving 200 cars on 50 tracks than 400 cars on 25 tracks.

There hasn't been much to speculate about. Private, passwordable rooms, host picks the rules, track(s) and cars.

I would like to see the host with the ability to limit tires, min weight, car and drive types, manufacturer and countyr of origin, some rules regarding track, width and wheelbase, displacement, induction type and so on. I would like the game to take care of this stuff, but with password protected rooms, all that can be decided on in the forums or chat rooms. I just want a way to keep people honest. I want to see the competition's weight, tires, power and aero.

Nothing wrong with having seperate leaderboards, infact I would welcome this. However im also a realist and if you consider GT5 will have 1000cars+tracksx2 for Standard/Pro physics then thats an incredible yet unlikely amount of scoreboards.

As for online features. Well aside from the host having many options I can think of a few additions that would be most welcome. For starters a car club feature would be excellent. The car club leaderboards could be based on online wins but another leaderboard for average time trial positions. On Forza 2 hotlapping was a very popular pastime for many racers and for some people this is all they did.

So rather worrying about skid marks, wrong type of trees, im more concerned how PD will cater for hotlappers and online racers. Nearly every racing game I have played has been spoilt by cheaters or people exploiting glitches within the game. So rather than worrying about the wrong shaped clouds in GT5 I feel its worth discussing what will give GT5 years of life and that is online play. The days of just playing single player and writing your laptimes on a piece of paper are long gone.

Im am totally convinced GT5 will be an awesome game. However the only aspect of GT5 that concerns me is the online features and this is where PD lack experience.

Red Rock Valley was a really good track from GT2. Shame that PD did away with it. I tested a lot of cars on that track.

We should start a petition or something. I love that track, every time I think of Red Rock Valley...I always see the GT40 race car.

I was never much of a fan of Red Rock, it was ok but nothing overly memorable. I liked Tahiti road, Grindelwald, Rome short and Seattle short.

Grindelwald was a fantastic circuit, I really wish they would bring it back. My favorite original circuit is El Capitan though.:D

Oh well, we'll see what happens at TGS, maybe we'll get a full track list. One can hope.

Rome Night, Great Track!!, heres hoping they bring it back, that & some of the other original courses left out of the last two series.:)

I used to hate SSR 11 because I wasn't much of a sim racer back then, and it being massively technical annoyed me (mostly because I didn't really know when to brake and accelerate properly), but I miss it now.

That, Grindelwald (awesome track, just awesome), Tahiti Road...

See, this is why I continue to believe that Gran Turismo 2 is the best installment of the four. 👍 Thinking back to SSR 11 again, you have to give PD credit for making that circuit look as good as it did....it looks better than pretty much every track in GT4.

Couldn't have put it better myself.

In fact i think i agree with all of those points.:)

SSR 11 is awesome, loved the first in GT1, would love to see it in HD, im hoping that PD do a version of each, much the same as the different versions of Fuji in GT4!!

Yeah, I just don't agree with that at all. However, it is a great looking track, and I'm one of those guys who have been harping that every track from every Gran Turismo game be included in GT5. Here's hoping... 👍

What game is that? :P
