Time for front tire killer 2.0!

I wanted to see if the Integra ('95) had what it takes, and it definitely does. A relatively easy win, similar pace as the Civic TC.

Recipe:
  • Buy all performance tunes, except suspension.
  • Sports hard tires.
  • Top speed to 270, adjust 5th gear to be a little bit shorter
  • Adjust downforce until you're sitting below 600PP
  • FM 3 for the race, and minimal tire saving; the tires will melt on lap 11, but you still have enough grip to make it to the end and win.
Have fun!

P.S. I also tried fitting sports mediums on the rear axle, but it didn't give me an advantage. On the contrary, I barely won that time around, since I had to shave off 1% off the computer to allow those tires to be fitted.

it’s one of the fastest actually, it did 26:37 & 2:09

I decided to push it a bit on this race tonight. The Celica ran a 26:46.750 with a fastest lap time in the 2:10's. Still got the clean race bonus despite lightly grazing the curbs/walls on multiple occasions. I'm finding little bits of time through turn 1 and exiting the hairpin. Also adjusting my traction control as the race dries out to see if that helps a bit with corner exit speed. The little tweaks seem to be working.

hitting the wall and even wall riding is ok for crb, just dont hit other cars, side to side bumps are still ok too...

TCS at 0 all the way, it's 4wd, you dont need it.

I think the wall hits and especially wall riding have some strange CRB requirements. There is a guy on YouTube who does credit grind builds and he has made several Tokyo builds. He has said that any of the new cars that have come out since update 1.27 (maybe 1.26) will not get the CRB if you wall ride. Its still fine with cars prior to those updates. I have had my CRB taken away from hitting a wall too hard in the Celica (went in too hot on turn 1), so it is possible to lose it from being too aggressive.

I'll have to try the race with TCS off. The car does have a good 4WD system on it, I'll give it that. I think I just used TCS out of an abundance of caution while I was trying to learn how to do this race with a CRB. But now that I want to hit mid 26:30's and sub 2:10 lap times just as a new challenge, I'll turn off the helper aids and see what is possible.

Be careful!
YouTube is great. Some people upload videos primary to earn money with the commercials you have to watch before the video starts.

But sometimes the commercials contain more true content than the video itself :D

must try this theory, i'll wall ride the celica & chiron and see if it's true.

It does work. I used the modded NSX '17 and T1 wall riding got me a CRB. Is a bit of a cheat to wall ride but Tokyo is a grind for credits. The a.i just gets in the way for me. For a fun race with a good payout I prefer the Le man's.

the theory is there are no CRB if you wall ride using cars added from v1.26.

and i dont do lemans, that race is too easy for me. i want challenging race.

McLaren F1 the road version, de-tuned with sports hards, can do Tokyo race with 0 stops on fuel map 2 and some short shifting. Have fun, if you have the credits for that one when it next appears 😎

Hello everyone,

just wanted to say thanks to all contributors for this fabulous section. It helps tremendously keeping the game interesting by trying new cars/setups in the money grind races, especially on Tokyo.

My favorite car for this race is Focus Gr. B Rally car on intermediates. I prefer the INT over SH because they have more grip in corners, even if you sacrifice some top speed down the straight.

I closely watch all lap/total times that are displayed here to get a comparison for me. I am wondering if these are done with controllers or wheels & pedals? I’ve never been able to do a better than 2:11 lap (no wallride of course).

Haven't done this race for a while. I'm late to the party but didn't realise PD made it so you can lose the CRB. If I'd had the presence of mind to find this out beforehand I wouldn't have bothered doing the race today. Half an hour of my life I'll never get back :D

Here ya go. Here is my setup and race strategy. I had a couple tiny issues on my first couple tries that required a restart, but I didn't bother to edit it out.

So this turned out to be a good experiment (that's still ongoing)

I played around with your tune as well as @praiano63 's tune on this car and found out some interesting things.

His tune runs on SM and yours on SH and they have considerably different parts, suspension, and aero setting, so it was fun to compare them.

When I ran both (without changes) they were almost identical on my first try with each tune - almost exactly 27:00 for the race.

I'm trying to learn more about tuning so I tried a bunch of experimentation, primarily with the tires, the aero and some of the gearing settings. On the trans, I mostly made gear 6 longer to get higher speed on the straight and adjusted the length of one or two gears slightly to get better shift points.

The last setup I tried, I was able to run the lap at ~26:40 using SH tires. @Tommy_D, as you mentioned, the tires tend to wear out, and I was also trying to find my fastest lap time, so I'm pitting at the end of lap 8, changing the tires, and only taking on a small amount of fuel.

Because the pit is very fast on this course (in comparison with LeMans & Spa for example), the time spent in the pits is washed out by the increased lap times from worn tires in my experience.

With that tune, my average lap time in laps 4-7 before things dry out is in the 2:09's. In the last several laps with a drier track and fresh tires I was averaging in the 2:07s with one high 2:06 lap. With the transmission changes (I stayed with manual and not racing as you mentioned in your video because I don't get the pp hit) and I'm able to get a top speed of 212-213 mph on the straight.

I still want to do more experimentation with this, but this car is definitely very fast and fun to drive on this race.

212-213 on the straight? Holy cow! Post up your tune, I would love to try it out.

Took the Delta GT-R out for a blast. I need to find a tune where it likes to turn, it feels like a brick through the twisty stuff.... still, I managed a win by nearly 14s.

@Tommy_D this is the tune I used for my fastest time. I just recorded a 26:25 with it tonight. As mentioned before it is essentially a hybrid of your tune and @praiano63 's.

I took your base tune with SH tires but used the suspension, LSD, and aero settings from Praiano. I then tweaked the transmission settings a little, primarily to lengthen 6th gear for the straight

With THIS tune, the top speed on the straight is around 209-210. It's a little less than mentioned because one of the key differences between the tunes is that your tune has no downforce and Praiano's has max. rear downforce. I think the grip provided by the downforce provides the largest contribution to the faster overall lap times (2-3 secs per lap)

If I use your base tune with ONLY the transmission changes I can get the 212-213 on the straight (216 on a dry track in TT mode), but my overall time for the Tokyo race comes out around 26:58.

The thing I'm still wondering is if some tweaks to the suspension might even improve the time a little more, since these settings were originally on a tune with SM tires, but this is where my knowledge of tuning falls short :) They are comfortable enough with this tune and the extra grip provided by the downforce is very helpful on the "slalom" portions of the course. Most of the laps on my last run were sub 2:09 starting with lap 3 I believe. I passed Gallo midway through lap 2 and never saw him again.

Thanks for your tune. This has been a very fun experiment. I'm very curious if these modifications improve your time as well.

Recently picked up the X-Bow and gave it a few spins around the track. Best I can do is second with wall riding through T1. I know my last run I messed up badly because I spun out on the hairpin and got stuck in reverse by panicking. I normally drive automatic but the X-Bow needs short shifting to make it without stopping. Anyone have any suggested tunes for the X-Bow? All I can find is basically stock and before the PP adjustment. It’s a beast through the curves and doesn’t begin to have any visible tire wear until like lap 9.

Cool. I'm going to give this tune a shot tonight. My tune was stolen from a guy on YouTube who made it for the Le Mans race. I just added some ballast and dropped the power to get the car to 600pp, so I figured there were much better setups out there. I never explored it, though, since this race is so strict about the clean race bonus. I just wanted to play it safe and get the credits even if it took me an additional 40 seconds to complete the race.

I feel like this must be an act of revenge on Polyphony's part. In GT Sport, the X-Bow was the absolute GOAT of that game, capable of winning all kinds of crazy races with much higher level opponents and racking up insane credits along the way.

It was because in GT Sport, the class system governing what could race what and how many credits you would get for a custom race victory were determined PURELY by horsepower, with no consideration for weight or handling. Since the X-Bow was so insanely lightweight, and so quick and nimble with unusually low horsepower, you could tune it to be like "N400" level (very low class rating), race it against a field of Gr. 4 race cars on the Tokyo track, resulting in a huge payout if you won ... and it would literally LAP THE FIELD ... with NO STEERING INPUT AND A RUBBER BAND AROUND THE ACCELERATOR. hahaha. you could create a 24-hour custom race and get millions and millions of credits a day without even playing.

I'm convinced this is why the X-Bow is so useless in GT7, and ALSO why custom race payouts are equally useless in this game.

Totally makes sense. I might try a similar comparison on LeMans. Definitely makes sense to have lower downforce on that track. I think I can use this as an educational process on tuning. Looking forward to that aspect.
