Plenty of people are talking about the positives, however for many (myself included) the negatives currently out-weigh them. What has not helped is Microsoft's seeming inability to clear these matters up, or even present a consistent message about them.

The 24 hour check is necessary, MS have confirmed that, and it will be for all games as full installs are mandatory.

We know that their will be used games, what we don;t know is how they will exactly work and how much they will cost us. That control of the market is moving (for the first time) to the original publisher is a concern, Gamestop have also not said they are unconcerned, tehy have said they need more info.

Which means that you can't effectively turn it off, nor does that mitigate the possibility that your data could be processed on an outside server and used by 3rd parties (depending on the EULA you have to sign for Live).

I really get your concerns about the negative aspects. It is fully understandable. And some rumours or half anounced subjects are really something to think about.

I am just not sure that everything will be as bad as some forsee it. I for myself wait till everything is officially out and then decide what is unacceptable.

It is somehow strange how this movement against DRM goes. On the pc nobody questions the practices of Origin, Steam or Ubisofts system. You cant sell your used games there. I think if the pricing would adapt to the pc model with seasonal sales like the steam sales, this problem wouldnt be so bad anymore.

I really dont like to sell my games. But some people have to do it, so they can get new games. They should really do something at pricing of games that are out for some while. A game that is 6-12 month old shouldnt still cost 60 €. It got better in the recent past, but we are nowhere a userfriendly system like on pc.

Looking forward to more information or actual facts on the console etc.
Microsoft have just been too unclear on details but look at the publicity the brand is getting with all the controversy. If they turn that around with a good launch line-up it could get off to a good start. The unannounced titles may be good (hopefully) and it looks like their will be plenty of launch games to choose this winter if your buying a Xbox One or PS4.

Console Wars!
Here we go again!!!

Also interested to see how Kinect 2 works with FM5 it is at the moment probably the main title I would want to play/experience.

Every 24hrs? What if I go on vacation?
Epic fail!
Are they retarded?
That would seem to depend on what your definition of "retarded" is. Agreeing to something then ignoring it habitually is more in line with my definition than stiffing gamers to appeal to a broader userbase...
AUP
You will not use “textspeak” (“r”, “u”, “plz”, etc.) in your messages. Decent grammar is expected at all times, including proper usage of capital letters.
And with regards to that and the "discussion" in previous hours covering the use of the dollar sign... let me quote one "Jordan" on why GTPlanet's rules are as they are.
Jordan
Why does GTPlanet have unusual rules?

GTPlanet’s Acceptable Use Policy applies across all areas of the website and is somewhat unusual on the Internet due to its request for “decent grammar” and the prohibition of “txtspk”. Such rules are often met with confusion and contempt by some new users. However, GTPlanet is not just another disposable “video game forum” – it is a community and a home for thousands of like-minded people which has thrived for more than a decade. These rules have always been in place, and remind everyone to put a little more thought into what they’re contributing to the community. In turn, this creates a more pleasant and attractive place for everyone.

Console Wars Round 3. :sly:
I probably end up buying both consoles again. Just because there are so many good games. But first the One for, yeah, Forza 5.

I didnt thought about Kinect 2 in games yet. It would be purely amazing, if we could use it to paint our own custom decals. Like no hour long work with small pieces to get a lettering.

Xbox One breaks pre-order records at Blockbuster

MCVUK
The internet may have spent the majority of last week shouting loudly at Microsoft, but it seems that the view of the average consumer is far more positive.

Blockbuster has revealed that since its announcement last week the Xbox One has broken all previous pre-order launches in Blockbuster’s 24-year history.

“We are delighted by the huge number of pre orders that we have received so far for the new Microsoft console,” the retailer’s head of games James Morton stated.

Microsoft: Kinect won't be used to spy on you, camera can be switched off

OXM
Microsoft has moved to dispel claims that the new Kinect's voice and face recognition functions constitute an invasion of privacy, revealing that Kinect can, in fact, be turned off (though not, we're guessing, disconnected) while the console is active.

Microsoft
If you want privacy, we'll give you modes that ensure your privacy.

I'm wondering how you are aware of moderation decisions given that your not a member of staff?

The simple truth is that this has been acted upon before (as recently as yesterday), and its an approach I have consistent taken in a number of threads.

That you have not seen it or agree with it is a moot point.

Firstly

I am not aware of moderation decisions nor do I want to be, all I ask for is consistency as I stated in a later post. It may well be a moot point but there is nothing in the AUP stating I cannot question decisions.👍

Saw this on Jalopnik

The part of the AUP you quoted says nothing about spelling.

Well if the camera and mic can be turned off forever, I might actually end up with a One if the new Forza games are worthwhile. Still not even contemplating one near the launch but I'm no longer against the idea as I was before.

Sure, PS4 is the savior. No DRM, no internet connection needed. :sly:

E3 cant be here soon enough.
My own impression of how E3 will be:

Just kidding! As much as I ridicule them for their PR-craptalk, I genuinely hope that Microsoft has good news to bring and games to show at E3. Perhaps, even ditched their stance on DRM until then. But blind optimism isn't my thing.

Asking for consistency on something you don't plan on reporting even if you were the only person to have seen it.

Your logic is baffling.

The AUP doesn't contain a single mention of spelling so I'm not quite sure what that is about, other than a rather weak attempt to score points.

They are and that has already been explained to you.

Its been explained and you have put your point across, the staff don't agree with you and the subject is closed (and the staff do get to make that choice and it is outlined in the AUP).

So let me make this quite clear, the discussion is closed and should you continue to drag the thread off topic and ignore moderation decisions then moderation action will be taken against you.

Let me get this straight:
XBOX1 will charge a used game fee
PS4 is going to have one too but SONY are considering otherwise
PS4's PSN will be free and XBOX live won't?

I shall leave then as I did not sign up to be silenced and to be honest if I continue this will only end one way as we both know. I go baring no grudges and I enjoyed many of the discussions and many of the people's points here but I can no longer conform to this.

I wish you all well 👍

Yes, but we don't know how much or how it will work.

Thankyou. This thread is hilarious, so many immature kids bleating on about why they know what's best and that the Xbox will fail. People need to stop being so bloody ignorant; nobody knows for definite what Sony are doing with the PS4 yet.

Making an argument based entirely on speculation is ridiculous and by doing so people are just making themselves look stupid. Please, for the love of all that this forum stands for, take a step back and look at your posts before submitting them. You could save yourselves a lot of embarrassment.

It's confirmed the Xbox Live service will remain subscription based. It's probable that PSN shall remain free, and PS+ still a premium. Sony have a slight edge on MS in making online play free to all from the moment you open the box. Considering the current negative response to the Xbone, if Sony get dedicated servers for each game and keep PSN free, MS aren't going to have a console for long.

I saw this and I leave it here.

In simple words...that´s why I never even take a look at the xBox, not even interested in...
I play on PC with free internet connection (because I already pay for it) and I play on Play Station since 1997, and why change if it works for me and I don´t need to pay extra for my internet connection?

One thing is if I need to use a service, but a different thing is when a company forces you to use a service.
That´s why I don´t like the xBox.

Don´t try to start a war or anything is just my personal opinion about it since I saw the topic and came from look at those bits on the internet.

How will the 24 hours online check work?

Will it simply display a message every 24 hours stating that you should connect to the internet or it forces a shut down or what :odd:

Yes and no.

While there's myriad folk saying PS4 has won and they're buying a PS4, it's faintly daft. We don't know what PS4 will do because Sony spent three hours revealing the name and acting like all gaming is Facebook - not even a physical device, much less components, specs and DRM strategies.

It's also irrelevant. People don't need to buy a PS4 for the Crossbone to fail. They just need to not buy the Crossbone. Right now, there's an awful lot of negativity aimed at it - and you have to say it's for good reason.

At present, the proposals for Crossbone put it so far out of consideration as to not even be funny - like beyond Wii U consideration. But I don't know what PS4 will bring, so that's not in the picture either. With things as they stand right now, I'll be playing GT6 on PS3 until Christmas 2015.

What this thread needs to do is get back to what the Crossbone will and won't do and not what the putative PS console has to offer by way of competition. Which is, at present, nothing - it may be more evil, it may be less evil or it may be almost exactly as evil, but the PS4 thread will deal with that when E3 arrives.

I still can't believe they actually are going to do this, so if your internet is broken for some reason you have a useless box

That is what I'm trying to figure out. If I don't use my Xbox for a few days and I take the ethernet cable out of it, and use it for another devices, will it lock me out of my games even if I put the ethernet cable back into the console? Will it shut down until the cable is placed back in?
