Your girls have good taste. Not sure I'd be giving my kids headsets and Halo lol. Well one is 24 so he's ok. My 9 year old isn't having a head set.
I'll be "Pa" and his mum "mom". Ain't happening.

YES! The girls have good taste. That's it. Um, I like your thinking.

Just never let on to my wifey, okay.

Very good article here about the whole "cloud" thing and it seems Microsoft are exaggerating (they'd never) the true real-time benefits of this to possibly counter the said to be superior PS4 specification.

Read Here

Exclusives aside do we all expect 3rd party multi-platform titles will be almost identical but maybe this time round the PS4 version will run a bit smoother or with increased frames. Bit like how X360 often had minimal improvements?

What are you guys here thinking?
Will the exclusives at launch be the real deal breaker in what console to go for?
Personally I think Sony need GT6 on PS4 to counter FM5 and if not at launch at least announced.

I am also not sure how they want to use the cloud to help your Xbox One out. What I find more realistic, is the possibility to connect to the cloud for multiplayer matches. Like a lobby would be hosted by a server instead of one player. The thing is, normally a cloud application fully calculate everything in the virtual cloud and you just connect to it. They say that it will be something inbetween. Where some parts are done by the One and some parts will be done by the cloud. A bit confusing.

So, will we get something similar to OnLive or some completely new technology?

GT6 on PS4 would only matter to people who want to buy the PS4 at launch. Like me, but not anymore, because of that reason. The core GT players will stick with GT6 and the PS3 I guess. I think that only a small amount of players would actually jump to Forza 5 and Xbox One.

I dont think that we see 10x better graphics with the next generation. But we will see very sharp images, rich textures, good lighting engines and more. I hope that the studios will put more work into good stories, gameplay and all the small things. This next generation shouldnt be about graphics, instead I want to see more creative and impressive games.

The developer teams all love both new systems and the development got way easier for them with the new pc-like structures. I think both consoles will mean a lot of fun for us gamers. :dopey:

And the best thing:
UPDATE: Due to the apparent uproar that ensued at the use of the word "some" in the headline, we have removed it. We used the word "some" as we have only spoken to "some" retailers, not all of them. But if a less specific headline will appease readers then so be it
What?

Confirmed list of Xbox One games so far:

  1. Assassin's Creed 4
  2. Battlefield 4
  3. Call of Duty: Ghosts
  4. Destiny
  5. Dying Light
  6. FIFA Soccer 14
  7. Forza Motorsport 5
  8. Madden 25
  9. NBA Live 14
  10. Need for Speed Rivals
  11. Quantum Break
  12. Ryse
  13. Crytek
  14. Thief
  15. EA Sports UFC
  16. Watch Dogs

Color me underwhelmed. Only three console exclusive games?

MS stated 15 exclusive titles, 7 being new IPs, in the 1st year. So a dozen more not listed above. What I want to know is how many of these are going to be Kinect2 games. Hopefully 2-3 and no more

I wonder how the TV integration is going to work. I do not really need a console to watch TV as I already have all the components required but I do wonder how it is going to work. I have a hard time believing that is going to connect to my DVR and just work.

I also wonder about these cloud services will they require a Gold subscription to work.

Lots of questions no answers = wait and see.

I couldn't be more opposite of this. I think next gen should only be about improving graphics. Gameplay and creativity can always be improved without using more procesing power. All I care about is getting closer to photorealistic images to generate immersion and use video games th way they were meant to be: to escape reality

Yes graphics are very important for immersion, and gameplay more so.
AI,physics should be improved alot I hope.
Also,online play and freezing.

^ If you ask me, gameplay has seriously stagnated in the past decade. We've got more physics-simulated effects and HD textures and detailed models than ever before, yet few games have made any strides in terms of an interactive experience. There are too many "movie with buttons" kind of games with QTEs or simple prompts, and puzzles spelled out for you in excruciating, unskippable cutscenes. I don't think motion control is the answer; I want to see more depth of gameplay, period.

Kids raised on today's videogames are easily frustrated by a challenge and don't think to deviate from the main path. They just want to be guided from beginning to end. That's not cool!
...There was some frustration among kids because they’re not used to playing a game like this, which can be hard if you’re not used to playing a platform game. Easy mode has a lot of tuning and features that were pulled out of these focus tests to make easy mode more accessible for players that aren’t as used to 2D platform games as older games are.

S: What about the secret passages? Ducktales is full of them. Did kids figure that out?
RJ: Kids nowadays do not think that way. That’s why we needed to have a cutscene in there to explain you have to look in the walls for a secret.

Now thats 907.18$ USD...

I will eat my left foot if it costs £599. Retailers add very high placeholder prices for hardware so that when they get the real, lower amount it looks good to anyone that pre-ordered. You know, "Hey you pre-ordered it at £599, it's now only £399". It's cheap but it's what they do.

In fact the PS4 listing is the same and they even state it's placeholder there.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00BE4HOIM/?tag=gtplanetuk-20

They go high so that they can be sure they don't go under and have to put the price "up".

EDIT: Yes, the listing for the One is the same when you click it.

Please note that there are no official prices announced for Xbox One products. The price stated above is a placeholder. With our Pre-order Price Guarantee, you can order now and if the Amazon.co.uk price decreases between the time you place your order and the release date, you'll be charged the lowest price. It's just a placeholder price. Obviously, the console will be cheaper than that. Amazon have a "lowest quoted price" policy for preorders. If I were to preorder the Xbox one for £599 from Amazon, only for Microsoft to announce a £400 pricepoint, Amazon will only charge me £400 regardless of the fact that it was £599 when I preordered. If I preorder for £599 and microsoft announce a £700 pricepoint, Amazon will still only charge me £599.

Edit: Amazon UK have quoted the same price for the PS4. No surprise.

What if it's 600 euros for the UK and 600 dollars for the US?

Why would it be 600 EUROS for the uk?

Companies do that, you know.

I know. It sucks. It's not always the companies fault though. I have bought many high end guitars from American manufacturers. In addition to having to pay shipping fees (which are minimal due to the sheer amount of guitars these companies sell overseas), I also have to pay a fairly hefty tax that my government levies and there's still the additional charge for the middle man overseas distributor.

I disagree. I think you are just handpicking a few games and generalizing them. There are games out there that are not like that. If you mean a specific genre than, yeah, thats the idea, movie with buttons. They need to sell games to stay in business, the cinemtic feel is a selling point. Gameplay is fine for most game(Not Skyrim). They are enjoyable, that's all that matters

I don't know if you guys realise this, but the games you pay $60,- for are EURO 60,- in the EU. It's retarded if you ask me. The retailers, middlemen and taxes ask for and make more money here in the EU.

Are they? Games in the UK are never more than £40 if you shop correctly, that's exactly $60. Are they really 60 EUR in the EU?

The RRP of full retail games in the EU is €60-€70. Most stores sell for €60 at most. PlayStation Store games are listed at the RRP by the publisher. All EA games are €70 which is why I'd never buy digitally from them.
