In the remote case I'll buy an Xbox One, how can I prevent kinect to spy my room? Can I cover with a piece of cloth or something? Will it works?

I'd wait and see. I've heard people suggest that you cover it up but I can't help but feel that you might just get an error message if you try that. Pure speculation here, I haven't read anything to suggest that. Just a thought I had.

Switch it off I think.

You can't.

I would think that some of those countries are not supported due to laws that would prohibit MS from doing some of what the XBone is said to do.

Turn it off. Or if you want, cover it with a cloth. Or be funny and put a mirror in front of it. :sly:

Duct tape. 👍

Duct tape the camera. Duct tape the speaker microphone. Then a couple more layers around the whole thing to make it properly enclosed.

Encase it in concrete. Then take it to the middle of the Pacific and drop it.

But then your Xbox One will no longer work without it.

And I'm partly serious about using duct tape. Blocks the camera and the microphone if you put on enough layers.

Nothing a little duct tape can't fix. 👍

I'm not an Xbox fan, I've never owned an Xbox and I probably never will, but I don't find this amusing in any way, and I feel very bad for those who want an Xbox One but simply can't get one. Microsoft are kinda acting like douches really.

They're pretty much saying:
"You really want an Xbox One but you don't have a fast Internet connection and/or you don't live in any of these 21 countries? Sorry, but Xbox One is not for you. Deal with it." -Microsoft

Xbox Live is required in order for the console to function, and at launch, Xbox Live will only be availible in the following countries.

Xbox One-Supported Xbox Live Countries
•Australia
•Austria
•Belgium
•Brazil
•Canada
•Denmark
•Finland
•France
•Germany
•Ireland
•Italy
•Mexico
•Netherlands
•New Zealand
•Norway
•Russia
•Spain
•Sweden
•Switzerland
•United Kingdom
•United States

In other words. The Xbox One will not function in your country at release.

The disclaimer is no longer available?????
I understand it now Im definitly not getting a Xbox and I was planning to buy a 360 just for Forza when I got to Portugal. Getting another slim instead for GT6 to replace my old FAT

Well, you could still get a 360 and Forza. To my knowledge, the 360 works 100% anywhere. Also, by not buying the Xbox One, you aren't supporting MS in removing the most basic consumer rights, so that's a good thing. Something a few others could learn from.

Thanks 👍

Im not supporting Microsoft after this. Its not that I dont think FM4 and the 360 arent worth it and of course I know the 360 works everywhere... it just a matter of principle. 👎

I just read on another thread that IZOD indycars are coming to Forza 5 and 2 1970's formula 1 cars!! I think a Ferrari and a Mclaren. Makes me actually want an Xbox One the tiniest bit but two old formula one cars and indycars aren't enough to convince me to spend $500 dollars just to play one game.

Microsoft actually committed suicide

Microsoft exec Don Mattrick: 'No internet? Stick with Xbox 360'

Microsoft has advised people who have no internet connection to keep playing on their Xbox 360.

Recently, the company clarified its digital and DRM policies for their upcoming Xbox One system
The console will require an internet connection once every 24 hours in order to play games, and once an hour if playing on an Xbox One that isn't your own.

However, live TV, Blu-ray and DVD movie options will still be accessible.

Microsoft executive Don Mattrick told GameTrailers in an interview that was filmed just before E3 that he understood why some people are frustrated at their policies.

"Fortunately, we have a product for people who aren't able to get some form of connectivity," he said. "It's called Xbox 360.

"If you have zero access to the internet, that is an offline device."

Mattrick continued:
"Seriously, when I read the blogs and thought about who's really the most impacted, there was a person who said, 'Hey I'm on a nuclear sub'. And I don't even know what it means to be on a nuclear sub, but I've got to imagine it's not easy to get an internet connection.

"But hey, I can empathise. If I was on a sub I'd be disappointed.

"It's a service-based world, if you think about things and how they get better with an internet connection. That's a design choice we've made. I think people will appreciate it.

"We did a lot of testing [and] a lot of consumer research, and I think we made a good choice."

Thats just rich isn't it, the more I think about it the more ridiculous it sounds. A system you paid $500+ for is going to tell YOU it won't play your games, simply because you didn't connect to the net. Absolutely baffling.

Once every 24 hours you have to connect and it syncs with your MS/Xbox live account. If you go offline, you can play your games for 24 hours and after that you can't play.

Microsoft really are just shooting themselves in the foot countless times now aren't they?

I agree. With the exception of their E3 conference (and I'm being generous here because of the price of the thing), every little piece of information has been negative. The way they gave conflicting answers to questions and comments like "No internet? You can buy a 360" just make me think how poorly prepared they were for all of this. It's almost like they expected everyone to say "DRM, Kinect spying, mandatory internet connections, TV, Region locking and limited availability around the world. Wow, great. Shut up and take my money. $500? What a bargain".

Maybe they should have waited another year. The components would be cheaper, they would have had time to ensure that they had all their broadcast deals in place, enough units for the whole world and they could have pumped more money into games to have an incredible launch line up ready. They're microsoft. They can afford it.

But no. It's all very half assed. Don't get me wrong, I know some people are excited, but the sheer amount of 360 owners that appear to be jumping ship is incredible. Microsoft just don't get it. I have a feeling that they're going to have a disastrous launch followed by a heavy price cut and firmware updates to remove some of the restrictions.

It's as if they're saying if you don't live like them you can't have an Xbox One just because you don't connect to the Internet every 24 hours.

But for what like you can't play games on that Xbox ever again?

I can see it now.

"You have failed to connect you account at least once in the last 24 hours. Therefore, the console self-destruct sequence has been initiated. Xbox, go boom!"

Microsoft would probably do that if there weren't laws against it lol

Yeah, I simply cannot see this being worth the price of the system or the restrictions imposed on it.

I know I am... Excited for the end of the Xbox, muahahah!

I am a Sony/Playstation supporter after all. :sly:

But seeing Microsoft like this is actually worrying because competition is good and if they're gone, I don't see Nintendo being a strong enough contender to the PS4. And then if Sony monopolizes and starts slacking, everybody loses. :ouch:

So I'm actually quite worried for Microsoft. :scared:
