I suppose you can't wave your hand in front of the Camera and go "You don't need to see me".

Jalopnik contributor gets thrown in "Microsoft jail" for taking pictures of a laptop inside a cabinet.

So basically he's in the Forza 5 demo area and notices that there are no XBone units anywhere. Wondering what all these demos are running on, he follows the cables to to a cabinet. The cabinet is open on the other side, and dark, so he takes pictures with the flash of his camera. What he sees is a laptop with a bunch of cables. Security then takes him to a small room and after some intimidation he decides to delete the photos so they'll leave him alone.

Why was Microsoft security and PR so worried about photos of a laptop in a cabinet? They said it was just running a looping video. So why were they concerned? Is it because that laptop wasn't actually running a looping video? Given the fact that there were no XBone units in sight and the cables led to this cabinet with a laptop in it, among others which presumably were the same, well, you guys can speculate all you want.

I assume this is why.

My buddy messaged me on FB saying that a Gamestop manager is telling people not to buy the Xbox One.

Lol.

Also I just heard that Gamestop is handing out flyers with all of the Xbox One's restrictions when telling people to stay away.

GameStop might have become an enemy to MS now

At the very least, all retailers should have to inform any customer wishing to preorder/purchase an XBone about its internet requirements.

I believe it, I've never been to a GameStop and not had the employee be a fanboy of either the 360 or PS3. That is why I always favored GameCrazy when they were around, the employees liked video games in general and didn't scold you for giving them business(at least the one by me was like that).

Well, I can say when I used to work at GameStop, my fellow co-workers loved video games. Now its just people there who don't know what they're talking about, working for a $100 paycheck, if that.

Never really found those kind of people at my local Gamestop.

Thanks for the link. What could anyone do to get perma banned from XBL? Also, that is extremely draconian.. I won't have any problems because I don't mod, cheat, ect. on any game.

Maybe mutter "EA is rubbish" then get it picked up by the microphone and wham! Ban Hammer!!

It's ******** like this that makes me mad honestly. There is nothing being confirmed about this 'Tweet' yet people go around and share it. Some people are so dumb to actually believe it also.
Considering how the XBONE's DRM is built up, it was sort of given anyway. But hey, look on the bright side; you can at least still watch TV and enjoy Blu-ray and DVD movies.

If your banned and cant connect to Xbox Live then how can you do the 24 hour check in?

There would've to be a huuuuuge warning on the disc cover so that really every douche can read it.
If there's no or just hardly readable info on the disc cover, it wouldn't be legal here. I'm quite sure about this.

Although even then you could most likely achieve a payback.

They could easily allow the check in process even with banned accounts. If they just want to.

It's hardly as if they ban people for no reason. Most bans are handed out for console modding, which is a clear violation of the XBL ToS.
Other bans are handed out for persistent harassment of other players (like racism & such), which is also a violation of the XBL ToS and makes you a terrible human being, or savegame modding which really falls into the same category as console modding.

Getting yourself banned from XBL as a whole isn't exactly an easy feat. You get warnings and such, and its always for something that's clearly defined as being a bannable offense in the ToS.
Game bans (like AH/SF bans in Forza or MM bans in Halo) are easier to pick up, but again, they're not just thrown out willy-nilly. If you get banned, you've done something to deserve it.
