*Dude shakes a tree and falls on top of your car*

Should've got Allstate. Your cut-rate insurance isn't going to cover this.

Holy ****. I just checked my 458 Italia. 141,500... Yeah, I did some 300km/h crashes for fun. :P

Thank god I saw this thread.

That's fantastic news, but I wish that it wasn't a "secret."

Not really, alot of people have been having issues with top speeds, acceleration and launch acceleration.

Mechanical issues.

I dont like the way they went about it.

They could have let it be known, and give a bill at the end of the race with the choice to pay or fix later.

Someone said their Civic racked up a 40k bill, what the hell get a new civic you can get 2 premium Type-Rs for that much!!! What kind of a lesson in green living is that??

This system is weird.

I think buying the 20,000 chassis reinforcement from the tuning shop is a necessity if you don't want a huge repair bill. I also wonder if b-spec affects damage as Bob just had 11 run ins with the wall and the rigidity fix hasn't increased.

This system is stupid, it shouldn't cost you more than the price of your car to repair it for starters. Secondly, it should tell you the damage bill you racked up at the end of the race. Finally, it shouldn't be doing this in practice mode!

I want a proper mechanical damage system... one that affects how your car drives in the race and forever if you don't repair it. But it has to be obvious and affect more than just the chassis.

Oh yes it should, practice mode is withing GT LIFE, meaning, its like if you take your daily driver to the track, if you scuff it up, it wil still be there when you go to work!👍

So is mechanical damage confirmed? If you hit a wall hard enough will it effect how the car handles/ overall speed/gear shifts? I thought mechanical damage was mentioned a while back. :/

I haven't come across any apart from (hugely) exaggerated overheating tyres.

I'm only level 8 mind you.

ARRRG!!! my pimped out Lotus Esprit with $120,000 worth of tuning..... just check, 68 thousand in mechanical damage.

If you use your custom cars in Arcade Mode, damage is not inflicted on them. It only happens in GT Life.

Drive Carfully.

THIS GAME IS AWESOME!
Special Stage 5 is sick.

Also, i've posted this in other treads with no answer... Does anyone know if you can turn off AutoSave? If so, please tell me. Would be much appreciated

Still doesn't make sense that we get a bill for damage, yet aren't able to experience any mechanical problems when driving. :indiff:

love the idea.

I think price is so high because sometimes you must put aa lot of work to repair something that probably should go straight to junkyard..

Or see a visual representation of said damage...

How can you damage your car to the tune of $40 000 and not put a scratch on it?

I can live with a low amount of visual damage, but the lack of mechanical damage is pretty disappointing to say the least. :guilty: Anyone a high level that can confirm mechanical damage?

Awe man they should offer insurance hahaha can we turn off this damage thing? I don't wanna pay when I'm still getting used to my gt wheel...hahaha

Me think you're harping that one too many times. I believe PD implement a brilliant concept. The less you damage your car(s), the quicker the damage physics will appear.

I don't know. I took my AMG out and smashed it into everything I could find. Racked up a 120k "chassis refresh" bill. The car still drives just fine, no noticeable difference. I think what we are seeing here is some sort of bug or something that PD just didn't quite work out all the way.

No matter, as far as I can tell, you can go on and not repair it and everything should be just fine.:)

Yea i am yet to notice any mechanical damage. Chassis rigidity would just make the car handle worse but its pretty hard to judge how stiff the car is when i have aftermarket suspension.

Anyone who has a repair bill over 100k isn't going to pay for it to be fixed are they? So what's the point?

Also i noticed the damage seems to be a lot more sensitive cosmetically in GT life compared to arcade mode. One crash in GT life would dislodge the front bumper and you've all seen how much punishment the cars take in arcade mode before they get really beat up....

 Out of all the people complaining about the visual damage, I mention the lack of mechanical damage (you know the kind that actually matters in racing) and I'm harping? Sorry, but mechanical damage is a very important aspect of auto racing, and to a sim on top of that.

I thought I read somewhere that Kaz said on twitter mechanical damage is coming, presumably in an update. Am I imagining things?

Me thinks some of you are nitpickers. Try driving cleanly instead of slamming into things, then you don't need damage do you? GT4 didn't have damage, did it ruin that game? Seriously, it's like why do anything new in GT if all people do is complain about it. I'm betting that higher levels and such will make damage more visible. And the tire issue, overheating will become a problem in sport tires, they aren't race tires. You do some hot laps with street tires, even if they are sport tires and they'll get heated.

The only problem is that people are going out and testing the damage sytem just for fun not knowing that it's going to cost them. This is going to piss a lot of people off. I was hoping we would have to repair our cars, but i was hoping for something a bit different.

What we have now is a hidden repair bill that nobody can see and by the time we actually find it we won't want to pay it because it's so huge.

Yes, because wanting mechanical damage in a racing sim is really nitpicking. I don't care about visual damage that much like so many obsess over, but mechanical damage is a necessity. Nice to be called a complainer because of a feature I was looking foward to.

It's reasons like this I waited a day before I started my real Career. I knew things like this would pop out.

But it's a cool feature, it'll make the game feel that little more immersive. 👍

Maybe they are complaining because the damage has been implemented in a idiotic way? This is a great driving simulator, but some of these game design decisions are completely insane. Hidden repair bills do not make for a good game. My solution would be to subtract a certain amount of money from your winnings based on how much damage your car receives each race. Thus you are encouraged to drive cleanly so you receive more prize money.

Completely agree with you, mechanical damage is much more important. I remember reading an article recently that was talking about broken gearboxes and things like that? I really hope it appears somewhere in the game or they update it later. Because no matter how damaged the car LOOKS if you can still drive around after a 300kph crash how can you call it a simulator?

Well there's some tables turned for ya! :D

I agree... mechanical damage is the priority type of damage and it's really sad to not see it in. I am concerned that with all the people who have had copies for over a week no no confirmation... makes me pretty sure it's not.
