Well this is a stupid system - you buy a car worth 20,000, spend 40,000 on parts, and end up with a repair bill of over 100,000 potentially.

6 years in the making and they can't even get this simple concept right.

I have seen various reports on cars being damaged and as far as I can tell the price of the rigidity restore is not related to the amount of damage. The price just seems to be related to the car (and upgrades?).
Can someone confirm?

WAAAAh this has got me worried about cars you can ONLY get through events....well they will forever remain in the garage now till I get to the point i have 999,999,999,999 credits again LOL.

In my opinion its pretty obvious that you have to repair the car and the more damage it takes the more expensive the bill?

However, i completely smashed my Audi R8 and it didn't feel much different. But that was at level 7 or so in beginners league. Level 11 now though, but i havnt crashed the last couple of hours with my old '70 Charger ^^

I had a repair bill of 187.500 on my lexus LFA, repaired it, and then drove 1 lap on the nordschleife (with some very small crashes). I then went back to GT auto, repair costs again were 187.500 ....

I just looked at my cars and for both my volvo c30 (don't ask) and my BMW M3 the repair costs were exactly half of the car's price. No coincidence me thinks :).

Didn't check the rest yet.

I find it ironic to see how Gran Turismo drivers are complaining for almost 10 years about the lack of damage (including me) and now there is complaining about the repair costs ;-)

I didn't play Gt4 to full detail, but I remember the same "body rigidity" thing.

Did it affect the performance back then?

One small dent to the front of the car and repairing it costs half of a new car. Mental.

I don't think it has to do with crashing at all. Once your car has been driven, its body rigidity can be restored. It probably takes a whole lot of miles before it needs to be restored.

My guess is that it is exactly the same as in GT4, but at a different cost. Instead of 50k it costs half of the price of the car, which means for any car up to 100k it's cheaper than GT4.

Thanks for the heads up. I was wondering how the damage cost would work. I am actually afraid to go look because i have been experimenting with premium vs standard damage. :nervous:

This system is rigged! I bought a second hand car for 18000 that needs 12000 repairs and I haven't even driven it! But it doesn't seem to effect performance but I am only on level 7...

Again, I don't think there is a need to repair it. It's just a possibility. Only after many miles would you probably see any change in behaviour.
This was exactly the same in GT4 (but it cost 50k for every car), I don't see why it's such a big deal now.

Tizzla.. thanks mate, just cost me Cr 26,000 on my R32 GTR V-Spec II '94.. thanks for the info buddy.

I also went to the arcade mode and beat the heck out of a mustang in an attempt to make panels fall off. But after 20 minutes and many roll overs, the roof didnt even get scratched. Only the front and rear bumpers were dented but it took an insane amount of hits over and over again to do this. Hopefully that bill doesnt catch up to me. haha

If you got to pay for damage that compromises performance its cool. If the damge doesn't interfere with performance then I won't fix it.

We will start to see a lot of damaged cars online I fear. :scared:

===============

I'll just keep the expensive cars for photomode.

So my Ford Focus ST, with every upgrade possible, that I've been throwing around for fun, and is my only car, I'm going to have to pay to get repaired....
Wonderful
Like everyone else, at the mo I'm just glad smacking it around is having no real effect on handling or performance

I don't know why, but when I checked some of my cars (those who got rammed bi AI, or whom I crashed because I didn't pay enough attention to the track) in GT Auto for the Body Rigidity refresh, and it always displayed the same price, being 500 Cr.
And I had some bad crashes with my cars. Maybe it takes a LOT of crashes to make the boll raise like crazy.

I like the idea, but the implementation needs some serious work. I mean, if the AI does something retarded and slams me into the wall (again), why should I have to pay for it? My starting Miata is understandably a little banged up ($5k repair bill), but my chromeline M3 I didn't hit anything at all, then the AI decides to come down on me when I'm inside of him in the corner and taps my fender. I checked after the race and that little tap apparently cost $500. I can't imagine what will happen the next time the AI pulls a pit maneuver and sends me spinning into the wall.

You can calm down boys.
The thing with the rigidity has nothing to do with repairs.
It's a feature like oil change. You can do it as soon as you have driven the car but is not necessary to do so.
Tested it with my type-R done 1 beginner race without any contact, 9.5K cost for rigidity, done the same race with lots of crashes and same amount ^^

So it's basically regular cumulative wear and tear?
We can damage our cars as much as we like in a race and it'll all be repaired in the garage with no repercussions?

I hope you're right, but I'll wait for official word :)

I think this damage bill system is garbage. I just spent 20 minutes trying to beat the stigs lap time in my new murcielago 670 sv and after a few crashes into the invisible walls on the test track (which are WAY too close) i now have a 200k repair bill. Thats half the cost of the car, for hitting invisible walls. Are you kidding me Kaz? Seriously? And i only managed a 1.19.6 :(

you're may right, I try the same car before and after repair and I don't notice any change, except that I've lost 140K cc for body repair...

Ok, after some study I found this:

1 - The amount of driving or damage does not affect the amount of money to be paid. As soon as you have driven a car you have the option to refresh the rigidity and it will be for a fixed price.
2 - The rigidity fix of all cars bought at the dealerships will cost half the price of the car (Volvo C30, price: 42k, fix: 21k; M3 coupe, price: 92k, fix: 46k
3 - All chromeline cars can be fixed for 500 credits, probably a friendly gesture to all who bought special editions.
4 - There is no indication yet about whether or not (or at which point) the lack of body rigidity will become an issue. But you probably don't have to refresh before you've driven a few k of miles.
5 - I'm not yet sure what the price is for second hand cars, but I'm sure that's related to the price of the car aswell.

edit: I don't know how people came to think it was related to damage. I haven't found any indication of this as of yet.

WHOA! I purchased a 69 Camaro. I went into 1 race and bumped a few cars. $32,00 in chassis damage. :ill: But I cant see any physical damage at all. :dunce:
